I'll be honest and admit that I don't get this comment.
...I think he/she was hoping for the war to be a wakeup call...
Unfortunately, they simply didn't have the skill/luck to overcome our number and quality advantage, and our faction, being experts on attrition are very aware of that.
Or they're just really into that Khorne!!! Junko worship.

I want her to stay and mop up but I think an entire army of nomads smashing into our exposed heartlands would be far more devastating than anything the Skaj could do now.

Not exposed. The Merntir have small stone walls around all of their settlements while the Arthwyd proper have the Tordysh, Zaradysh and Maradysh between them and the Boarfolk nomads in that order.

Finish them off while they're still down.

And to be completely honest, I'm kinda hoping for the Boarfolk to attack us. We're gonna win in the end anyway, but the damage they cause might be enough to make it easier for Evatine to push for future reforms.

I think the best thing we can do to the boar folk from attacking us is to be the victor. If we leave the Nersondur in a bad way, they will be the likely target.

Convincing boarfolk not to attack us is why I voted for a diplomatic upgrade.

@Oshha So, what effect do the bird people we have in our empire have on wars like this? Are the scouting advantages flight would provide and the like something that's part of our bonuses or how's that kinda stuff work?

None. They provide no bonuses, trying to use their flight as something of tactical or strategic advantage would only result in penalties and if it wasn't for the Arthwyd being kind and caring to outsiders, the Birdfolk would have gone extinct like they did in the Lowlands. For further details, see every other time the Birdfolk and how their flight could be useful has come up since I don't feel like repeating it all again.

We have vassals with walls and a river flanked by mountains (unless they go for a wide southwest flank) before they even get to the Arthwyd heartland and when they get there there are plenty more walls (assuming I'm reading the map correctly). Even if there is a large failure in defense it will take significant time to deal a devastating blow, never mind a fatal one. This isn't to undersell the damage they could do of course but I think it is better to finish handling what is definitely a problem before trying to handle something that isn't guaranteed to become one.

Skjaldur is unlikely to regain his momentum even if he does eek out a few victories, and the Arthwyd-aligned veterans now have a good grasp of the larger strategic picture.

On the other hand, the Northern front is currently unguarded (in relative terms), with no strong military commanders should Novikov invade. The mere absence of our martial heroes (or the show of weakness, that our Cadlon isn't there to meet him with him) might be impetus enough for him to try his luck.

Last but by no means least, preemptively avoiding war is the best use of a diplomatic hero.
