Can I ask why you guys support the war? It honestly doesn't help much; the Nersondur are an active threat, and this war will both weaken the one currently fighting them and put the Arthwyd in the line of fire. Please, can we try to get along with the Caradysh? They are legitimately hopeful that we won't try to kill them any more. They would gladly broker an official peace.

Can we not Restart the Undead wars with raiders at our Gates?
I highly doubt the forloc war would end quickly in our favor even with our involvement, and currently, we are not having to deal with raiders yet only cause of their spirit guides.
The raids continued to go further into the Far North, stopping either at the mighty forest that the walking dead came from or at the lands of the mythical Arthwyd with their powerful goddesses and towering walls of stone.

Some argued that they should go further, but when the spirit guides of the shamans screamed not to, even the bravest or the stupidest listened. At least for now as sooner or later, some group of fools would work up the courage to make the first step for familiarity bred contempt.
And well, we haven't seen any major battles yet, with the biggest simply being the Nersondur taking towns with insufficient defenses, and I would rather not risk being stuck fighting too near-peers at the same time...

Why do so many people seem determined to cast us into a pointless war? Are the Arthwyd not peaceful? Do people want them to become aggressive and warmongers? I don't get it.

Hmmm, this looks like an interesting story.

Speaking from my own heritage and inclinations, i think supporting the reclamation of one's homeland is a viable endeavor.

Why do I feel the Negaverse Caradysh may think of us like the Ottomans might have thought of Christians?

I find the option to help our loyal vassal regain more of their homeland that the Caradysh simply have no right to imo and thus getting more of the Forlucan support which considering they're our strongest vassal isn't a small thing, as well as increasing our stability to be better than trying to stop them, losing legitimacy and stability and their support in order to force an OOC for our Civ decision upon them.

The Forluc have a right to want to regain their lands back, and considering the previous clashes between us and the Caradysh, we have more reasons to suppor them IC than we don't, and while the southern raiders are a future problem, we're training more warriors and tbh more experience in fighting couldn't hurt either even if our warriors are indeed the blessed kind.

To try and clear some things up here, if an option is available to be taken, it means that it's not OOC for the Arthwyd to take it. It might not be the most probable action for them to take (in this case that would be war on the Caradysh because something something abomination something something ever evil, etc) but it's never an outright impossibility.

An example of an actual OOC action for the Arthwyd would be enslaving their fellow Arthwyd, which is why Oshha has never presented it as an option to be voted on.

Fair nough on that regard but I still find the logic and...entreaties used in thread to not fit with what I see as how the Arthwyd would look at things. So perhaps it would be that I find the motivations that people are using to be very OOC than the choice itself.

I do see what you mean though about no options being presented that would clash with the setting and appreciate the distinction.

This or at least something that they could potentially do. It could be argued that the Arthwyd making a surprise invasion of the Boarfolk could be argued to be out of character for them, but it is something that they could do. It comes down to whether or not you consider out of character to be something that someone would never do or something that they wouldn't normally do. Committing slavery is an example of the former while going on an offensive war is an example of the latter.

That said, any option I provide is something that the Arthwyd are culturally capable of doing or at least attempting.

I don't really see an upside to a war at this point in time - it just seems like a lose-lose. Either we lose the war, and it's bad, or we win the war and our unruly vassals grow stronger and we get a neighbour that's been picking fights. The current status quo is that the Caradysh kind of... do their own thing and mind their own business. They've been providing a stable border, and their terrain is actual garbage to fight in. I see no reason whatsoever to let the Forluc, who we had to club in the head, get more power so they can drag us into more pointless wars.

And I see the Forluc as already having adapted to our rule and culture and having every right to want to reclaim their lands, and we didn't have to club them over the head, we had to feed them during the Ice age. They changed and adapted to our rule even when it caused them trouble.

yes we have raiders but a stronger Forluc can handle them better and protect our lands better whereas the Caradysh doing a poor job of fighting the raider off and honestly I'd rather have a stronger and grateful vassal than one that *will* grow more unruly if we stop them and a neighber that is still untrusted and for good reasons to the Arthwyd.

Not to mention the war would give us more experience in fighting and prepare us in case the raiders get closer to us, which isn't a certainty.

Since it came up in the Discord, the Caradysh have not being using their undead boar cavalry against the Nersondurans and as far as the Arthwyd can tell, the Caradysh should still have over twenty thousand of them.

I see...they've been holding back...crafty liches indeed. Pity we have discovered ways to counter boar cavalry aha! (joking aside ty for the update as that was odd)

I suspected something along those lines...
I mean, they are probably expecting it, or at least a repeat of the one started by Forluc aggression, just with quite a few things reversed...
