Changing Destiny (Kancolle)

Tobruk is going to go very differently and with Guderian instead of Rommel at the helm, it's not looking good for the British.
Guderian isn't as, ah, free-wheeling in regards to his supplies as Rommel is, and may better remember that his orders are to defend Libya, not conquer Egypt for the good reason that the Germans and Italians can't supply the latter through North Africa.

So while on the one hand he may be more difficult to deal with in time, he also isn't that likely to cause panic on the Allied side.

just thought of something... if Guderian is in Africa that probably means that he'll likely adapt Rommels beliefs about keeping the panzers close to the front when he becomes commander of France.

Who knows? Depends on how Rommel does wherever he is really. Remember, Rommel got promoted to many of his posts because was a big Hitler fanboy in 1938-40, and even skipped a level of general when he was promoted to Major General from full Colonel due to a not insignificant amount of Hitler's patronage.

Guderian was the opposite of Rommel. He didn't suck up and would disagree openly with orders he felt were stupid. In OTL, during the planning of the Kursk offensive, he asked Hitler why he wanted to directly attack the Russian defenses. Hitler admitted that the thought of it made him ill and he was ambivalent. Guderian told him that Hitler's instinct was correct in that and to not attack. Then Keitel piped up with the political ramifications of not attacking. Guderian countered by questioning the existence of a political dimension to a place on the map that only the people in the room knew of. Hitler dithered another two weeks before approving the attack.

still cheaper then a full on battleship crew which needs food for a crew of 2000 sailors three times a day, fuel, ammo. SO one ship girl eats a third of the food, if that, for oe full restocking order for a battleship.
But the thing is that it is very unlikely that the Allies will deploy shipgirls into battle unless something really bad happens. Something like a enemy shipgirl suddenly appearing and destroying an entire US naval fleet.

If more shipgirls begin to appear, I wonder how they are going to hide their presence and feed them without people wondering why so much food is being sent to a specific location with a small garrison.

the economy of America in ww2 was all for the soldiers and sailors. no one is going to question where parts, materials and food is going, except that it gets to soldiers and sailors fighting the war.

"Almost feels like home, doesn't it mate?"

"Bit chilly tho, and the critters aren't nearly as unpleasant."
"No drop bears down here."

This brings up a good question: where will they go?

Personally, I'd tag the supplies as belonging to the "Office of Ship Morale".

And another question: what will happen after the war?

The end of the war, in-setting, is years away at this point. None of us other than Sky can realistically answer this.
But one thing is for certain....
The kanmusu that was traumatized by thier sinking or the situation that lead to their self summoning...

They're gonna need plenty of hugs.
Lots and lots of hugs.

The Lee is an infantry support tank. As was the Sherman. The Russkies called it a 'coffin for five brothers' for a reason. It also won't be the only armored vehicle the Germans and Italians have.

I disagree. Rommel ultimately lost in Africa because he didn't have supplies. They couldn't get past that big damned unsinkable battleship, HMS Rock of Gibraltar. But when they did have the supplies, the British had been pushed all the way back to Egypt.
The problem with the Libyan campaign wasn't so much getting supplies across the Med — though the RN and RAF did their honest best to make it bloody hindering awkward — as it was moving the gear once it reached North Africa. The east/west road/rail infrastructure in Tripolitania and Cyrenaica was utterly abysmal for moving large amounts of materiel; that problem was complicated by a critical shortage of transport assets (which were mostly priority-assigned to the Russian front, IIRC); and that problem was cheerfully compounded by piratical souls like the LRDG and David Stirling's SAS gleefully vandalising every single truck, train, and Ju-52 they could bring within reach of their explosives and machine-guns.

Not to mention the fact that moving fuel, the single most needed supply in the theatre, is even harder since the very vehicles that carry it consume a rather substancial amount of it before they can arrive to the frontline vehicles, not to mention the amount that simply evaporates. Without a pipeline and its infrastructure to pump it the farther you get from your base the less you're able to support mobile warfare.

Also while the LRDG occasionally launched raids to the deep rear of the enemy they were an strategic intelligence gathering operation so most of the time they prefered to count the transports that used an specific road without opening fire. That said they were without any doubt the best navigators of the desert so more than once they acted as guides for the SAS, taking them to their targets until the SAS learned the tricks of the trade, and yet more than once the LRDG found a jeep that the SAS abandoned as too damaged, repaired it and incorporated into its ranks, starting a frindly rivalry between the two services.

More quotes attributed to Erwin Rommel

Men are basically smart or dumb and lazy or ambitious. The dumb and ambitious ones are dangerous and I get rid of them. The dumb and lazy ones I give mundane duties. The smart ambitious ones I put on my staff. The smart and lazy ones I make my commanders.

Give me 1 Australian Division and I will conquer the world.

In the absence of orders, go find something and kill it.

Sweat saves blood, blood saves lives, and brains save both

I don't know about that. Guderian wasnt far behind Rommel in the race of the recon units back in France.

got to disagree with part of this. wouldn't it be better to have the ambicious ones your company commanders where they'll be able to greater effect the battle.
