Changing Destiny (Kancolle)

More likely Operation Barbarossa. I don't think Schreiber would defect with only Bisko and Pringles, leaving Blucher behind. I would imagine that High Command would order Schreiber to proceed to the Med to light a fire under the Regina Marina's ass to deal with the remainder of the Royal Navy. After that probably enter the Black Sea to shell Sevastopol and assist the invasion that way.
The latter is... unlikely. At least, in the short term. Turkey has long had a policy forbidding capital ships of any nation not bordering the Black Sea from traversing the Bosporous Strait, and unless Germany is willing to have Schreiber fight his way through the Bosporous--which would not be easy, between Turkey's (admittedly antediluvian but still dangerous) capital ships and coastal batteries, likely resulting in Biscuit suffering enough damage to have to fall back to an Italian yard for repairs and then do it all over again--then they're not about to let him just sail into the Black Sea. The Turks stayed neutral during World War Two, and it's unlikely that Hitler would want to start a war with them just to be able to send Biscuit in to shell Sevastopol. More likely they would have her escort a cruiser force that would then transit the Bosporous to do the bombardment; the Soviet Black Sea Fleet has no capital ships at this time to be an effective counter to them; while most of the Soviets' cruiser force is in the Black Sea Fleet, Svetlana and the two Admiral Nakhimovs pose no real threat to, say, a Hipper-class cruiser (a 130mm main battery? Really?), and even the two Kirovs in the BSF pose only a nominal threat to them, at half the displacement and armed with 7.1-inch guns. (All of the BSF's pre-war battleships were sunk, scrapped, or scuttled in the 1920s; Sovetskaya Ukrania is about 18% complete, and the battlecruiser Sevastopol is about 11.6% complete as of the outbreak of war; neither one is even to the point of being able to be used as a fixed battery on the slipway.)

Hell, the Turks even put special restrictions on Soviet/Russian ships--their point of view was that since Russia has ports OUTSIDE the Black Sea, they don't actually need to send capital ships through the Bosporous, and thus treat them as if they don't have a Black Sea port for transit purposes (though they did treat them as being allowed to have capital ships on the Black Sea because they do have ports there). Indeed, this is why the Russians, to this day, have always designated their aircraft carriers as "tactical aircraft-carrying cruisers" instead, and given them a significant anti-ship missile armament to back it up; that way, they can say, "Oh, no, Admiral Flota Sovetskogo Soyuza Kuznetsov isn't a capital ship, she's a large cruiser that also carries and operates tactical aircraft," and use that to justify to the Turks why they should let it transit the Bosporous. The Turks know this is bullshit, of course, but they also know that Russia is entirely capable of ruining their day if they try to stop them (Article 5 be damned, it'd be pretty hard for NATO to surge troops into Turkey), so they go along with the little ruse. Partly to save face, partly to avoid pissing off the Big Red Blob, and partly because they know that it is a bit hypocritical to let other Black Sea nations send whatever they like through there while restricting the Russians. (Russia, for its part, uses the ruse because they don't really want a shooting war with NATO and using force to get Turkey to let them send capital ships through the Bosporous would instantly trigger one.)

The big, red elephant.
The communists, or Bisquick? :V

I like his parents. They seem human, which may sound weird, but sometimes authors of all stripes write parents and parental figures as almost machines. Just 'dad dialogue cliche # 503.'

Why paint Arizona's turret roofs red? Doesn't that make them easier to target?
It was a practice of making the ships of each BatDiv identifiable to friendly aircraft, IIRC.
Italians did the same thing.

They painted the barber shop lines at the bow, so Italian pilots knew which ship to most definitely not fire upon.

Hi this is shore patrol we heard you are bullying destroyers

would you kindly please have a seat over there

"You've given me a lot to think about, Enterprise." Richardson's gaze was harsh, yet his voice was as soft as it ever got. "Not least that the Japanese are not fools. Saratoga showed that Pearl is vulnerable to air attack multiple times. Taranto showed that torpedoes can be used in a shallow harbor."

Pushing the door open, the Admiral gave just one more statement before leaving.

"And it is entirely likely the Japanese take lessons from both of those. Consider your request taken under advisement...as much as it is in my power, you and the other carriers will continue your reinforcement missions. And will not be in port here any longer than strictly necessary, so long as the tensions with Japan remain."
ok this is really big. If Richardson's figured this out and puts the net up,it might mean Pearl makes it out of the attack with barely a scratch all things considered. Outside of Ari, Nevada, and minor damage to Pennsy, the vast majority of damage they did to the battleships was with torpedos. Put those nets up and you might see WeeVee, Cali, and Oklahoma back in a action by 43 if not sooner.

Except torpedo nets aren't a perfect solution. There's still a chance to get through.

True but even at a 50% reduction of torps hitting, that's a considerable amount of damage reduced. And with Ari having had an AA refit, the chance of the golden BB taking her out is lessened as well.

You're forgetting one very important factor: time. It takes time to bring an AA gun into action, especially on a ship in port.

Well, given what the two Admirals said about keeping the carriers out of Pearl as much as possible...does this mean that there will be round the clock manning of the AA guns?

Also, will Richardson stop those sight seeing tours around the military base?

How do you quantify doing such a thing in peacetime, especially on religious holidays or Sunday?

He doesn't have the authority.
What he COULD do is point out that those sightseeing tours would have let people realize that the base is at its lowest readiness right at 8AM on Sunday, and that it would thus be the most likely time for a surprise attack, and maybe they should have a General Quarters drill at 0745 or so every Sunday, just in case.

Okay, but he's the only one with hindsight. Which means he's basically saying 'you gotta do this. Because I went on a plane.' And the troops won't take kindly to Sundays, the day off, being filled with work.

He really doesn't have the authority to close down his own base from sightseers...

A base commander does have the authority to take whatever steps he deems necessary to insure the security of the base and personnel there upon. If he deems that he needs to close the base to sightseers, he is well within his command authority to do so. Anything less would be construed as dereliction of duty.
