I could have sworn someone wrote something where American carriers wore uniforms from American War of Independence or Civil War, depending on class - Civil War for Essex, Revolutionary War for Lexington/Yorktown.

It would make sense, firearms have a far greater cultural significance in the American psyche the just about any other ranged weapon, just like how the Japanese CVs use bows because Samuri were historically known for being mounted archers IIRC. British CVs would likely use longbows too, or maybe Lee Enfields for a more modern touch.

Question.
Will Red Fleet shipgirls appear in this fic as well?
It would be interesting to see how Soviet Union would try to justify the existence of shipgirls through communist doctrine and their reaction to the girls themselves.
Will the girls be communist?
I know that the red fleet participated in various battles of World War Two.
Soviet submarines attacked German shipping in the Baltic Sea and other ships served as Fire support during the siege Leningrad and Kronstadt as well as in the Black Sea.
Edit:
Also what ethnicity would the girls likely be?
The Soviet Union was a very diverse place filled with Russians, Ukrainians, Siberians, Cossacks, Mongolians and central asians.

It would be hard to see, since right now the USSR's not actively in the war, and is not a major naval power or contender. No maritime traditions, lack of warm-water year round bases that are not penned behind strategic chokepoints. The war on the Eastern Front is going to be mainly land with air and naval forces distinctly secondary.
It's not going to play a major part in the Pacific on screen since the IJN would crush the Red Banner Pacific Fleet (better base positioning, more numbers, better ships, better training...) and there's no way that the USN will have basing close enough to interfere*. As for the fight in the Baltic or Black Sea, It's very probable that Admiral Schreiber will be based out of in France with Bismark.
Getting Bismark in a position to threaten the Atlantic convoys and counter the Royal Navy is the whole point of the exercise that they are on. Basing Bismark out of the Baltic is horrible for threatening the Royal Navy since you have to break out past all the RN bases. If you base out of France (either Brittany or the Bay of Biscay) you are near impossible to block from cruising into Atlantic convoy routes which puts pressure on the Royal Navy.
The only way I could see Schreiber involved would be if he shifts his flag to Tirpitz when she starts using the Baltic for sea trials and combat preparations, which would require something to happen to Blucher, Bismark, and Prinz Eugen.
*The closest base to Vladivostok that the USN has in 1941 is Manila in the Phillipines which is 3,335 kilometersby air. Tokyo is 1,062 km by air. There's a reason the Sea of Japan is called 'The Emperor's Lake'. Also, note between June 22 (Barbarossa) and December 7th (Pearl Harbor) that Japan and the US were at peace. There's going to be zero support in the US for jumping into WWII to support Soviet Russia. If we had been inclined to get involved before Pearl Harbor, it would have been triggered when France fell or when Great Britain was attacked.
So, I just had an idea that might be kind of stupid, but I figured I'd toss out just to make sure that it was at least considered (and if it was a bad idea, why it was a bad idea).
Basically, the idea is to have a submarine wolf-pack patrolling around the area of Pearl Harbor, hunting for hostile surface groups. That way, when December 7th rolls around, their's the potential for Carrier Division 1 to suffer the flaws of early-war Japanese ASW, and possibly take some of Japan's carriers out of the fight in the opening battle of the war.

You'd need what I call the Chain of Authority for that. Who, why, and how. Who would give authorization? Why would they be out there (from the perspective of non-time travelers) and the how. How would someone convince the higher ups to have a wolf pack, which the US historically didn't do at this point, to be mobilized?

It's not a terrible idea, you just need to remember that Thompson is 50% of the people who know what's in store. It's a little like when people were wondering why Schreiber, the German Admiral, didn't just sail up to the Home Fleet and hand over his ship full of deserters like the Red October.

Remember that USN fleet boats had ~10 torpedo tubes, and about one in ten Mark 14s worked. Which, while abysmal, means there's actually a decent chance of one of them doing something if it hits.
