Plus they were flexible. You name it, the Liberty Ship and later the Victory Ship could do it, including being built as a publicity stunt from keel-laying to being launched in four days.

They were built to move tonnage, and put up a fight, no matter how inconsequential, if attacked. They were AMCs, and they did their jobs. Jeremiah O' Brien, John W. Brown, and Arthur M. Huddell are the only ones left, out of 2710 of 2751 planned.

Likewise their is the exact same number of Victory Ships left. There is also one that's half-sunk in Panama. However one Victory Ship was in the Mothball Fleet until 2010 when it was broken up for scrap.

Being as I am taking the licensing tests for teaching in the next couple weeks, I can't say for sure when I will get the next chapter up. I'm still going to be working on it, but as I cannot afford* to fail these tests, it may take a bit longer than I wanted. Studying, yo.
Figured I should get that out of the way, since I don't know how much time it will take me to finish the chapter now.
*no seriously, I can't afford to fail. It's costing me 266 dollars to take these things.
