Changing Destiny (Kancolle)

Or, hypothetically, they didn't come back as an Admiral and may have just been a Captain of a random cruiser or something. Or, haven't come back yet

Hmm the Axis was heavily into Occult research. Hmm could the Abyssals(considering the Iron shackles and collars)be a result of that research that found the ability to bind spirits of the sea and turn them into mindless killing machines?
The reason it wasn't used then, they would be an enemy to everything and in the future it was used as a last Fuck you to the world before they passed?

That would be...bad. Very bad.

Well the Admiral Has solid fact Souls and Magic Exist.
So it is a leap using the fact that Hitler had an Entire SS squad Devoted to hunting down Occult objects and lore. Considering the looting During his conquest and the Capture wholesale of indigenous groups Jewish and Romany that have a Background of rich Lore.
It is possible.

(Emphasis added)

More likely Himmler. He was the guys who was big into occult stuff. Everyone else in the Nazis senior leadership generally rolled their eyes at it and Hitler himself had some pretty scathing things to say about Himmler's obsessions.

Himmler always struck me as probably one of the most bizzare among the Nazis higher ups. Although he was coldly ruthless about the holocaust in the abstract, the actual sight of blood made him nauseous and the only time he personally watched an execution occur he almost threw-up. He aspired to be a military leader (a wish that was granted by Hitler in February 1945, with predictably disastrous results) but the only part of it he liked was giving out medals. At one point in late-44, he was probably the most powerful man in the Reich after Hitler but then wasted it away because he didn't seem to know what to do with that power. Himmler even once described himself as a "slave looking for a master" (word for word) and it was this characteristic that was probably why he was even following Hitler in the first place.

A very strange man if you ask me.

Or they they had a moment of sanity and realize once they (Abyssals) are off the chain there was no controlling them. So they buried the research and everything to do with hard including silencing the researchers.

Flash forward eighty odd years someone found them and release them...

In the old timeline.

If our good admiral found out and is captured and is force to talk...

I got it! Killing Hittler will not only lead to a power struggle in Nazi Germany, but will lead to the Russians invading Germany in Summer 1941

Anyway, and in totally unrelated news, any specific American ship that was in the Pacific at the time people want to see? Clearly Yorktown is coming up in the next chapter, but I figured I'd ask.

(cue BIG E)

USS Vestal the first ship doc on the scene and did her duty battered as she was and was right next to Ari when she died.
From wiki
Although damaged herself, Vestal participated in some of the post-attack salvage operations, sending repair parties to the overturned hull of the battleship Oklahoma so that welders could cut into the ship and rescue men trapped there when she capsized. Over the ensuing days, Vestal's men repaired their own ship because yard facilities in the aftermath of the Japanese surprise attack were at a premium. Within a week of the raid, Vestal's crew had pumped out the oil and water that had flooded the compartments below the waterline and cleared out the damaged and gutted holds — all work that had to be completed before the rebuilding process could begin.

September, now.

But yes, that's why I specified:

any specific American ship that was in the Pacific at the time

It's also worth noting that any ships I write will have different characters from the typical. I subscribe to the view their characters are related to their experiences (such as Kongou going down with two Admirals aboard leading to being Teitoku-sexual). Which means that they will be different, having not experienced these things.

That's why I suggested Vestal she is there and does repair work on the Fleet that doesn't require a drydock.
Hearing that her Babies (Doctors get attached to those who they take care of for years on end) will be killed like fish in a barrel won't sit well for her.

Suvorov's nonsense theories notwithstanding, the Red Army simply wasn't ready for offensive action in 1941. Hell, it wasn't even really ready for defensive action in 1941... at least, not within the frontier region. It's myriad of issues had been identified by the Soviets, but massive rearmament and reform program was still only half-completed when the Germans struck. It just wasn't ready for war and this was a major influence in Stalin's desperation to try and not provoke the Germans. Now once mid-1942 rolls around, on the other hand, they actually could do something.

As for ships I wanna see: Yamaprise! Oh, wait... wrong kind of ship. :p

No preference. Despite my participation in the fandom, naval war isn't really my thing. I'm much more of a ground pounder and grand strategist in my studies (as you might have guessed from my previous posts).

I'm a little surprised it took this long to come up. :lol

As for ships I'd like to see make an appearance who are readily available... I wouldn't be opposed to seeing Pennsylvania make a showing. But I'm a sucker for Super-Dreads like her.

Pennsy might not be there
From start to finish how long does an overhaul for a Battleship? take from Pennsy wiki.

From August 1931 – 1941, Pennsylvania engaged in Fleet tactics and battle practice along the west coast and participated in Fleet maneuvers which were held periodically in the Hawaiian area as well as the Caribbean Sea. Pennsylvania was one of 14 ships to receive the early RCA CXAM-1 radar.[5] After overhaul in the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard (increasing the number of 5 in (130 mm)/25 cal guns to 12),[6] on 7 January 1941, she again sailed for Hawaii where she carried out scheduled operations with units of Task Forces 1 and 5 (TF 1 and 5), throughout that year, making one brief voyage to the west coast with TF 18

Well, like I said, Yorktown is the next big one to feature. Nothing stopping San Fran from being in the chapter after the next one.

Also: Old Iron? Now I've got a positively cracky snip in mind for dear old Pennsy. Will do that after I eat.
