- [x] Rayet from Aldnoah

Whether Trooperist's, mine, or joe's doesn't matter.

I don't like the havoc pic. Overdoing on the haggard look in my opinion.

I have no idea who that is, but the trauma is obvious.
I would take the picture of the other one if we went the shy girl route, but this picture is more fitting for the monster.

[X] Keep current pic

It is an excellent picture for the end of her backstory where she is flying forth to kill the humans that showed up too late.

While Renu's shows the trauma more clearly, I also doubt that they would have let her go to the school actually looking that bad off. Rayet kind of looks like what Renu's pic would look like after some clean-up as well at last to me excluding some obvious differences like hair color and even that's not too far off.

I don't really see the point in having our appearance show the trauma. We don't need our looks to be a badge telling all the shit Anna went through.

What? That's not how I read it. How did you even got 'kill humans that showed up too late' from that?

@Avalanche, some confirmation please. What actually happened there at the end? My understanding there that she lost it after forced to fight fellow humans and then left for some insane attack against the breach in order to stop them once for all but failed to so before her people slaughtered.

Even if something like that happened, I doubt murderous glee is the appropriate emotional context there.

I think the problem is the reverse. The current apperance shows 'something' and that was not felt to be in line with what shown of Anna's personality so far. Personally, I just don't like the image.

But you do have a point about the appearance. Hence why Rayet is the perfect choice between current pic/Rayet/Havoc. There's nothing in her appearance that screams 'chronic PSTD here' but that flat-to-bitter expression match with Anna's internal monologue and how she present herself to others.

She flew off to keep fighting and the humans had to stop her at the end. That is the part I was referring to. The bit with "Damn it she's lost it. Take her down" from the story post. Clearly that was the humans talking about Anna as she rampaged.

Ahh, okay. My misunderstanding. I thought you was referring to the character sheet since you said backstory (and that's usually where I understood 'backstory' to be located)

Perhaps I'm misinterpreting this but the reason this backstory is called "the Monster" isn't because Anna killed the UN forces due to them being late, but because it is how others will view her combat abilities, for instance "Is she even human?!", or other appropriate statements during Valkyrie vs Valkyrie team battles.

While I can see how the original "You're late" can be interpreted as Anna blaming the UN forces, the character sheet is clearly referring to Anna when it says "You were late", furthermore the poem uses me. I imagine Anna arrived just as the AG forces were finishing a one sided slaughter, and someone* lived long enough to make that statement followed by a few parting words which went in one ear, and out the other due to shock.

As for why they were taking her down, a Valyria much less someone extremely good with their Impeller Field doing the equivalent of punching a wall is a very big risk if you've got a large army nearby currently engaged with enemy forces.

*Perhaps the individual whose hand Anna was attempting to grab during her trip down memory lane?

My interpretation was that the "You're late" was Anna talking about the UN Forces

The chain of events as I saw them was:
  • Town splits into two factions, Pro-Anna and Anti-Anna
  • She decides that something more permanent has to be done about the aliens so she goes to find the source
  • Anna returns from a patrol to find the two sides fighting and has to use force to put a stop to it
  • Anna promises those left alive to put a stop to the alien attacks before heading to the breach
  • Big battle at the Saskatoon breach including the fight with Sekhmet
  • UN Forces arrive soon after the battle and find Anna heading back to town. She does not respond to communication attempts so they follow her
  • Anna arrives back at town to find everyone she left behind slaughtered by aliens.
  • UN Forces catch up and see the devastation "You're late" goes here.
  • Anna has a mental breakdown and takes it out on the only living targets in the area leading to the UN Forces fighting to put her down
In the end it's not just the combat skill that gave her the "monster" designation, but also how she reacted by attacking the UN Forces when they arrived too late to save anyone.

EDIT: Had one small thing a little out of order.
