The exchange rate has not been thoroughly enough studied. However, general principle dictates that appeasing the Senpai god must be a good thing, nyan.

I would know. Whosoever shalt claim to understand the mysteries of basque omake better than I must first offer greater sacrifice at the altar, NYAHN! NyanananannannannannannannannannannAnna.

This talk of altars and sacrifices unnerved me, so I decided to investigate further.

Unfortunately I cannot into statistics, but as far as I can tell from mucking around in Excel, there is no relationship between the amount of omake posted and how long it takes Avalanche to write an update.

EDIT: Additional columns added.

EDIT: New data on the next update has been released. Table updated accordingly.

Should probably be looking at word count per day instead of days.

Edit: you'd also probably want to somehow account for the negative correlation that has been occuring naturally betweeen posts since OP and words per day. I think.

That's a good point - some updates are much larger than others, so we should be looking at how much the amount of omake per update has inspired Avalanche's productivity!

I've added the relevant info to the table.

... Still not seeing it. :p

You probably also need to look at the timing of the omakes... A 14k omake two days before an update isn't going to influence anything. Based on senpai's profile... Hm, hold on.

*hums* Acie (14k words) was posted basically at the same time as bonus interlude one. If we merge Acie into the next batch, we see a spike to 22k omake correllating with a jump to 175 wpd.

Obviously (except not) we can differentiate between everything before post 17 as being part of The First Year versus The Year Of Perhaps Drought. In the Year Of perhaps Drought, we then have a very clear correlation between omake and WPD.

... God I feel like a climate denier right now. Stop making me feel like a climate denier pls.

Weren't you the one saying we must make sacrifices in order to further our understanding of the Grand Mysteries of Basque Omake*? ;)

*That sounds like an Indiana Jones-style flick. I want to see it.

Well, in the interests of science, here's the data I used to calculate the numbers in the other table. This should hopefully give us more insight into the role of timing in all this.

So I am now caught up to the latest update.

All hail the Omnissiannah, sayeth the Cult Craftclassicus.
Mechanidrites, flesh is weak and only communicating in compressed datapackets soon.
They are hard at work replicating the Standard Anna Constructs.

And Instructor Leonharts appearance in the fishing club bit really reminds me of YKK for some reason.

Anna as a commentator... Really there is only one way to answer that question:

[Anna-doesn't-even-need-to-look-to-level-a-Flat* Stare]
* = May or may not be as in apartment building.

In re discussion some pages back about integrating a planet.

Motive for such an act:
Building material.
Meaning.
Nihilism.

All that mass.
All that iron (nearly 2 yottagrams of delicious iron), all of those radioactives, those volatiles, all that carbon, most of it sitting unused, doing little more than storing potential energy, slowly cooling and decaying.
It could be put to better use. Living space. Energy generation and storage. Processing power.
Builder gotta build.

(Somewhere in the Australia proving grounds, Anna builds a metal extractor.)

--- 126 gigaseconds pass ---

What began as a battle action harem highschool side character quest escalated into a war which has decimated a million worlds. The Anna and the Antagonists have all but exhausted the resources of a galaxy in their struggle for domination... You know the rest.

This is really good. I love the detail you went into for the infantry support teams.
Whee! Noticed!

Thanks! It was pretty fun planning and writing it out. Couldn't have done it without such a robust setting already there to build on.

Yep, Muv-Luv was definitely a major influence. I tried to bring across that feeling of alien-ness that the game gives you deep inside a Hive - though since I couldn't use weird colours, I had to do it with weird physics instead. Obviously the dynamics are a little different, given the reversal in numerical superiority in the quest compared to Muv-Luv. I think there was also a bit of cribbing from my experiences with base assaults in Xenonauts.

(As an aside, thanks also for introducing me to Muv-Luv. One of the greatest fictional experiences of my life.)

Initial voting for Gaiden will lock tomorrow or the day after -- consider this a last warning if you haven't seen things yet. Then i'll have to crunch things for a little while -- there's two or three formats I have to choose between for post no. 1.

Decide on a favourite food or favourite food type! Doesn't matter if you classify them by region, type or anything;
[X] Pancakes with maple syrup and bacon.

Which matches of the Squadron Vanguard tournament will you be going to see?
Accept Commentary request?

[X] No. You will watch all the matches involving your squadron. As the matches take place simultaneously, you will only be watching the matches from your own squadron.

I'm pretty sure I haven't voted. *checks profile* Zero posts! Let's change that!

I guess I should say something about how much I like the quest, and how I've been reading it, and read all of it.

*slaps*

voting was locked a month and a half ago, nyan.

Edit: yeah that's a new slap topic too. Voting after the lock without making any mention of the possibility that the vote has been locked.

Oops.

Don't worry, I too was confused because a QM advertised their spinoff's voting period in a different thread. Just seems like one of those things you would keep contained to the thread itself.

I dunno, is this standard procedure? Is there a standard procedure?

There is no standard procedure. There is a thread for new quests looking for interest. All of the interest for Gaiden is kinda here, though. Also very much a one-time deal -- I don't intend to do this every vote in Gaiden, but like... The original boot got strangled early in its life (blame IRL) but the one big comment was "we didn't get enough time to vote on the OP." Maybe I'm overreacting to that, but then given that I'm asking people to determine setting and characters for the entire spinoff quest...

I personally view it as a really big "what do you want in this omake" poll.

Hi! I lurked around SV for a long time, and now I want to say "thank you" to my favourite authors.
I read many funny fics and sad fics and WAFF fics, but "Anna and Pillow Fort", "Anna vs. Bread", "Anna and The List" are the most depressive and at the same time hilarious and adorable things that I ever read.
Thank you, @Avalanche!
