Now that the lurking is over there is many things i must speak of.
1. 10/10
2. The point were Anna one thumbed the protag power-up attack is very much like when Aizen and ichoga first "fought" in bleach. So is Anna the true final boss?
3. I vote we "win" by the killing aliens and saving the world path.
4. The truly saddest update was the last simulation update because the fact that historically shorten the Alaska campaign means nothing when at the start Anna already had in the real campaign was rushing home to save her loved ones, and was already too late. :(
5. more later...

Honestly that last frame makes me thinks shes a bit of an angry drunk.
Perhaps more Tareme Eyes - TV Tropes and less Tsurime Eyes - TV Tropes

Eeh... doesn't work as well as I thought. Sadness.

Angry drunk Anna sounds like it would be both terrifying and hilarious.

We would basically have a drunk with PTSD and they are piloting the single most powerful weapon system ever created by a human being.

Someone should create an Omake like using that idea.

Probably for the best Anna can't get drunk in the actual story. I can't help but feel that would be a disaster. Probably result in some kind of horribly sad scene wallowing in guilt/shame about the loss of everyone she ever loved.

The fact Anna can't get drunk doesn't mean drunken shenanigans can't happen, it just means she will be the only one to stay sober during them.

Except that pretty much everyone around us is a valkyrie, and it is most likely safe to assume that valkyries can't get drunk. So no drunken shenanigans for anyone.

Image if it's Durga that gets drunk while Anna stays sober.

Drunken chav ramblings from semi-organic murder-suit would be certainly something.

That might be and interesting scene actually.

From the standpoint that this is an Anime focused on Koji, it would serve as a way for the viewers to notice something is up with Anna because she isn't getting drunk like the others.

From the standpoint that of us the readers, drunk exposition from the rest of the cast, or us being the only sane person while they get up to some crazy shit.

Not everyone has their Core synced all the time like Anna does.

While the core is synced I don't see them being able to get drunk. But desynced, definitely possible.

Well, they might have better resistance to alcohol thanks to their Core's enhancements, but they should still be biologically capable of getting drunk.

Hmm, true. Though how the Cores improve everything attached to them, including the pilots, it is probably pretty hard to get even a desynced valkyrie drunk.

Edit: Durga'd

I've put a bit more thought into it.

Anna would definitely be Immune, synced or desynced. Might drink just to try it/get pressured into it by the Flight, but as stated earlier, wouldn't actually get drunk.

Shuri is probably like Anna in that she never desyncs but we don't know that. Probably has an absurdly high tolerance if not out right immunity. Probably disciplined enough not to get drunk in the first place anyway, but could probably be pressured by Sandra into doing so.

Yukari we know desyncs from time to time, so with the Core improvements and the time she has had a core she probably has a fairly efficient digestive system. Probably can get drunk but doesn't stay that way for vary long. Might be responsible enough not to drink.

Koji, Setsuna, Sandra, definitely desync and probably haven't had the cores long enough for any major improvements, definitely could get drunk. Koji and Setsu might be willing to get drunk, but Sandra might not.

I thought it was mentioned that most Valks don't actually improve their bodies that way, out of either not knowing that they actually can, or, once they learn it's possible, being uncomfortable with the idea of blindly messing with their biology with no take-backs?

I mean, you don't get to say "I want this assault rifle to become an MK.3 Hyper Velocity Cannon", you just pop it into your frame and think about how it's not good enough for your needs, and that you want something better, along with a few rough goals on what you want. Sure, if you've already upgraded one into some advanced weapon that you have on hand as a template, then you can probably set that as the goal and get from A to B that way, but you can't do that with the human body.

if you upgrade a rifle and the result is some strange gun that uses ammo you're unable to supply, then you can set it aside and start over again, but if you go blindly upgrading your body, there's no saying "I want a do-over!" when you end up immune to any medication a doctor would ever want to prescribe, 5 times the dietary needs of a normal human, and/or quadruple-jointed tentacle-fingers.

I think it was mentioned that everything gets really slow passive upgrades, so probably nothing major for anyone outside of Anna.

Actually... You know how some of the instructors are, if you go by the dates of their births, rather elderly? And don't look like it? Cores upgrade and maintain everything in the most optimal condition it's supposed to be working in. And it's uncertain if it's defined by the user or the core (Anna is weird in that Durga is very aware and capable of manipulating her mind to make sure she doesn't go completely crazy).

Because of this, Valkyries that want or need to be prettier to either feel more confident or because they are often in front of the cameras and command would much rather have someone photogenic doing the propaganda as then it works better are liable to end up prettier. Eventually.

This is the heart of the matter in a nutshell. In order for a Valkyrie core to improve some trait/item the user must devote focus to that trait or item. Anna is probably immune to alcohol presently by sole virtue of the fact that her bodily functions are operated by Durga. If Durga was removed from the equation, she could likely get just as drunk as anyone else. Everyone else will have to work out how to not get drunk after a bit of practice getting drunk.

In fact I rather suspect that more people are immune to hangovers than to the getting drunk part. Being able to get drunk and forget things is sometimes a desired trait, waking up with a splitting headache on the other hand is rarely desirable.
