[x]Allow the others to do most of the work, see if Sandra can put her money where her mouth is. You're still going to intervene if you see one of them in danger though.

I actually like this one a whole lot more.

Changing my vote yet again:

>[x]Historic Scenarios (Moderate)
>> [x]Single Sweep (Objective. Fairbanks Breach has been subjugated and Saskatoon Breach has been destroyed by unknown means, the flank is secure, San Francisco Breach is vulnerable, sweep down the coast.)

[X] Since there are two aces in the flight now, would you like Shuri and I to hold back further? Or should we stop for the next exercise and decide after that?

because history lesson is gud.

I can't believe that it took me so long to read this quest! It's unbelievably well written.

The scene where Anna first got to her comfy bed, realized she had always had her impeller field on, and then made a pillow fort really sold me on the whole thing and made me care about her as a character- that and other scenes like it have made this quest simply incredible.

"Are these requisition request from Perth for real?"
"Codes are good."
"No you jackass, I mean, are they serious?"
"...Codes are good?"
"Fucking tin can, whatever. New job Fabricators, one hundred cubic meters of cushions."

I leaned quite far back in my chair reading that.

Speaking as someone who has enough volume of hair that pillows are rapidly becoming superfluous, it's not all it's cracked up to be. If you want to leave it untied like Sandra does, you only really have two options: get it caught in everything you run into, or develop enough grace to successfully keep it away from daily hazards. You know, things like candles, people's faces, food, the occasional door, things like that.

Unless you're in an anime. Then your hair and clothes stay perfectly in place no matter how much you run or jump around, unless plot demands it.

This is blatantly false.

If it never moved, how would it be swished by the dramatic gusts of wind, along with their cape or cloak?

Why are we voting for moderate? We utterly destroyed the last moderate sim we did without significant effort, and we have two more Valks now and Sandra leveled slightly. Unless you plan to have Anna and Shuri sleep through the first half this is going to be an incredibly boring and useless exercise.

Ugh, because if we do something harder then it's an escort mission dealing with our newbie flight mates.

Escort missions are WORSE than boring slaughter fests. Ughhhhhhhhh.
Escort missions.

Besides people want LORE info dumps. And they are interesting LORE info dumps.

Because having something possibly triggering Anna's PTSD when's it's only been 4 days in-game or having something where only two flight member's actually have any chance of doing something is so much better instead of them learning how to work like a team, amirite or wut gais?

Besides, History is cool. More lore for us.

Just be patient, like after the timeskip or when their's an actual attack from Antagonists to show off our skillz or whatever.

[X]Randomly generated scenario
-[X]Difficult

[X] Since there are two aces in the flight now, would you like Shuri and I to hold back further? Or should we stop for the next exercise and decide after that?

I'd prefer the chance for more world building but this is the only option that has a chance at beating out a boring Moderate difficulty mission.

Changing my vote. A bit late for a new vote, but I feel that it resolves most of my issues with the other votes.

-[X] If hold back: Single Sweep
-[X] If all-out: Uralsk Massacre

If we're told to hold back, a nice and simple challenge should be nice training for the newbs. If on the other hand we are told to go all-out and fight to the best of our higgs-less ability, then Single Sweep will be a complete and utter bore. The Massacre will be a good training scenario, one where we'll show just how much there is left to learn. It'll be hard, give us a nice infodump (hopefully) without being too horribly emotional for us. Yes, we might lose one or two of our allies- but we'll be doing our best, and it's important for us to learn to continue the mission even if something happens. If we break down the moment a friend gets hit we're fucked in real combat.

The point to freakout is now- not during combat, but during training. We need to get past the freakouts, and only going against pitifully easy enemies won't do that for us. A randomly generated scenario won't have the nice infodump and will have about the same emotional impact on us as any of the civilian-less historical scenarios.

[X]Historic Scenarios (Moderate)
-[X]Single Sweep (Objective. Fairbanks Breach has been subjugated and Saskatoon Breach has been destroyed by unknown means, the flank is secure, San Francisco Breach is vulnerable, sweep down the coast.)
[X]Hold back. Allow the others to do most of the work, see if Sandra can put her money where her mouth is. You're still going to intervene if you see one of them in danger though.

It's a training exercise. If we have to bail them out now, hopefully they'll learn for the real battles. There's no point in an exercise that doesn't challenge our flight, and there are enough historical scenarios we can get interesting lore and actual training.

*To get past the freakout*

Wat.

Our freakout is MurderMode. Our *ALLIES UNDER ATTACK / ALLIES KILLED* as suggested so far seems to be to kill anything that seems to be threatening. We have Valks performing friendly fire. We shoot our allied Valks. We have our supports in the town under fire. WE KILL THE OTHER TOWNSFOLK ATTACKING THEM.
ANTAGONISTS KILL ALLY. WE WIPE OUT THEIR BASE AND FEEL GUILTY FOR NOT SLAUGHTERING THEM FAST ENOUGH / SAVING OUR ALLIES.

Our freakout is 100% murder mode + more guilt. At least that's what I've gotten from the history / past updates. It seems to support my view.
*I don't expect us to hide in the inn for a week going NOOOO SACHI.*

TLDR we cry after we burn and salt the earth. When combat is over and it is ok to breakdown.

It's a training exercise. If we have to bail them out now, hopefully they'll learn for the real battles. There's no point in an exercise that doesn't challenge our flight, and there are enough historical scenarios we can get interesting lore and actual training.

FOUR. DAYS. That's how many days of training our newbs have. We didn't 'Hold Back' except for the fact we had no idea what sims did when we did it with Shuri + Sandra. A moderate one with Shuri + Anna holding back will test our rookies quite well.

They've been like grinding like crazy already. Learn what!? I mean c'mon guys it might seem like it's been months to us, but IC it's been four days.
HECK ANNA's like maybe we should take it easy on the training and stuff too. HECK IC we're trying to get people to take it mildly easy. They have time to get better. WE don't expect ACE quality in week one.

But yeah more lore is great. Which is why Moderate one seems nice.

In addition to the other benefits, Moderate also allows us to analyze the teamwork between our allies without the first mistake or two resulting in an instant fail-state (Those fail-states being 'people KOed' or 'Aces have to kill everything' instead of 'PTSD attack'), we want to do intense missions to push the limits after we have some idea of what those limits are.

It's a brand-new team with no real prior teamwork and figuring out 'how does everyone slot in to the new puzzle' is more important than pushing to a Difficult scenario and testing everyone's limits right now. Picking something where more than half the team is likely to be unable to do shit doesn't help us test teamwork, it just tests 'are Anna and Shuri the most stylish' and we already know that the answer to that is 'yes'.
