The Great Council 4:
You were With Daemon: He wanted you by his side while he supported Viserys' Claim for the throne.
You stood by Daemon as the claimants were being read, and there was something interesting about the 9 that were there. You had been told that there were going to be claimants from the east, from Princess Saera's line.
But they didn't show up. In fact, they seem to have been adventuring in Old Valyria, so even if they had actually survived, the law prevented them from actually taking part in this council. They had broken a law that all of Westeros knew.
But that still left nine others.
There were two that claimed to be Jaeherys Bastards and they were damn near thrown out of the council chambers by the King himself. He claimed that the very notion that he had bastards was completely outrageous. He loved his wife more than anyone else in the world, save for Gael, his daughter. And to say that he had natural children, especially with women he never met, was outrageous.
The Two men then respectfully quieted but remained to press their claim.
Then there was the man you feared. The man who called himself Maelor, the Son of Maegor. He had claimed that his mother was raped by the Cruel Dragon during the many faith rebellions, and was with child. There were a few who believed the story, both because that was something that Maegor would do, and because the mother of the woman who was there. Several river lords seemed shocked to see the washerwoman alive. As there was a story about many women who were fed to his dragon when they failed to get pregnant, or worse, delivered stillborn deformities.
The Black Brides could attest to that. But this man looked like a child of Old Valyria, with silver-white hair that was tied back in a braid, and he was built like a monster. He was well over 7 feet tall, and shoulders like a dragon. You also saw one eye was blinded but was covered with… a human leather patch. The man also had armor that was built for him, steel, and a plate that was undeniable in its craftsmanship. And a Great Sword that was larger than most men. His left hand was flesh, but his right hand had two fingers made of steel. He may not have been Maegor's son, but he certainly looked like it… even though MAegor was not nearly as freakishly tall and large as this man.
You had heard several lords speak of him with fear and some would vote for him as to not awaken Maegor's ghost.
Then there was another man, an old man who talked with quite a list of names and descendants… about how he was from a line descended from the Gaelor the Golden, and through nine generations they have tracked his lineage, and bloodline, to where it was he, not Aegon's line, that was heirs to Dragonstone, and in that end, the Iron Throne, as the more senior branch.
Not mentioning the fact that Aegon was the man who founded the kingdom, and was in essence, the senior line, and his claim at most gave him Dragonstone.
Then there were the Big 4 claimants
Archmaester Vaegon stated plainly that he would not press his claim, and had been working hard to actually prevent such an event, as he was sworn and chained to the Citadel. And while he stated he would have been an excellent administrator, there was a problem, he had no living male Heir, nor any children of his own, and it would cause more chaos.
Lord Laenor was also considered, as he was the Male Heir of the Princess, Rhaenys, but he stunned everyone in the room when he told the lords of the Realm he would support his mother, saying "I will be King when the time comes, for mother still draws breath." It was a bold statement of both love and politics and swayed many lords to the Princess' banner.
Princess Rhaenys was the front runner, as the bold proclamation of her son saw it so. She was not doing much in the way of campaigning, and there was something that she left to the others, despite her own wish to be queen. When she did speak, it was to the ladies of the realm, the unmarried or the unwed ones, there were many who came looking for husbands, but now they had found power.
It was quite something that rallied many to her banner and support.
And then there was Viserys. He was jolly, charismatic, and active, despite not having a dragon. He was large and proud, and likable, though if a bit indecisive, and wishing for more of the lighter mentions and stresses of kingship. He was a family man who cared deeply for his wife and child, and Aemma Arryn arrived at Harrenhall with a child in her belly.
He had been campaigning vigorously for his throne, even more so than Rhaenys, as he went to seemingly every lord in Westeros, and listened to them, and their problems. He did not use Daemon to intimidate them, nor did he make promises for support. At least openly. He was playing it cool. Like a true politicking master. Or maybe he was just fumbling his way through the thing, and people were seeing they could benefit from a king who was not the brightest torch.
Though even with his great nature, he seemed plagued with doubts. And his brother was always looking for a way to not show it.
Despite that, things were perfectly in line with other things.
The Vote was called, and the Votes were counted by the Maesters.

Then the Old King spoke, and it shook the room. "Lucien the Silent, come forward." He ordered.
It was almost as if there was something ethereal about the Old King's voice as the entire room silenced. Everyone saw you walk forward, and knelt before him.
"You have served the Realm, and you have brought glory onto yourself, and to your family. And you know the Truth of your parentage, that you are my grandson, of Gael, my Winter Child."
The entire room was about to erupt, but Daemon was there, and his sheer presence silenced everyone. "I am offering you, now and forever, to be a member of my family, to be holding the Name Targaryen, and to allow you to wear my house name, for now, and forever."
Tears were streaming down his face. "Your mother would have loved you, were she still alive. And she would have wanted this."
