Reposting this since I was asked about it.

Given the tine we've had the tools, we should be done with the Tyrosh bridge, thus connecting it to the Disputed Lands and the Bypass Canal should be 50% done. (It's necessary to not block ship travel from the east too badly when we get started on the Stepstones bridges.)
Ah, so beautiful.

And now that we have three sets of the tools, we should be able to dramatically increase our daily progress.

Should we have three separate construction crews? Or leave one working on roads and double up two working on bridges to get them completed that much faster?

Oh, what a cool monster.

How about we say something like "strife is coming regardless" and "we're sworn to try, but you can of course warn your people to refuse".

"We have little interest in the gods who abandoned our forefathers and whose return signals strife and death where there was peace for centuries uncounted," the mage finishes.

Well, this is awkward. Still, I think he only speaks for the Necropolis dwellers. However there should be plenty of snakes interested in Yss among the ones on the surface (assuming they're not all dead or joined Tor). They listened to the Dreamer after all.

I'm pretty sure that Tor wasn't the "Great Reckoning" however, so these guys are still in danger. We might get a second opportunity to recruit them later, similarly how the Golden Company fucking up Mantarys made the Little Valyrians willing to leave.

You could always try an convince them to come with you on other grounds than religious revival.

I think this snake-guy's got his history a bit wrong. Yss didn't abandon them so much as he was dying, and the return of magic in general is what's causing strife and bloodshed, not just the awakening of the gods. I'm more than a little tempted to bring Yss here directly to see if he can shed some light on the truth for this guy.

It might be factually wrong, but from a very callous standpoint he's not entirely incorrect. As far as he's concerned his people have been getting on just fine without Yss for generations, and while Yss might not have voluntarily left them, he did leave.

What's the point of signing on with a God that disappeared on you, voluntarily or no? If he left on his own that means he's a bastard, if he didn't that means that he wasn't strong enough to weather whatever storm displaced him.

Why hitch your cart to a God like that, especially when you can guess that shit's about to hit the fan again and the reason he's come back is to look for mortal agents to do his will during said shitstorm?

While I get your point, it is still very annoying, especially since each one of those arguments can be disarmed with the truth if this guy is willing to listen. I really hope he's reasonable.

Anyway:
I think that we should better start with getting to know each other first.

@Duesal , a list of questions for these sneks?
1. Greet the magelord politely, introducing himself as the king of a distant land across the sea
2. Ask if there are any more enemies or traps to be wary of
3. Ask if any of the surface dwellers were known to have survived Tor's bloodshed
4. Ask why he believes that the gods abandoned them, and why he blames them for the coming of strife. This is not a rhetorical question meant to evoke doubt, this is to learn his point of view and see what can be done to address it.
5. See if you can get a meeting with all the survivors together.

@DragonParadox, regarding the eggs:
1) Has Lya left to Sorcerer's Deep with them yet?
2) Were they the Surface Dweller eggs?

[X] Plan Hello Heretic
-[X] "Strife has come over all lands of this world, be it from the work of gods, people coming learning the arts of magic, or beings from other worlds intruding into them. Rest assured we mean not to bring strife to your lands and Yss has sent us to aid, not to subjugate, but know that there are other gods in this world. They do not care if you shun or glorify them, but only to bring cold and darkness to all who live. I have come in peace and friendship, for quarrel among the people of the world serves only our enemies."
-[X] Ask if there are any more enemies or traps to be wary of, explaining that we don't trust the turnskin not to have had contingency plans in place in the event of his fall to spite all other survivors
-[X] Ask if any of the surface dwellers were known to have survived Tor's bloodshed
-[X] See if you can get a meeting with all the survivors together.

Suggestions are welcome. I'm very nervous about messing this up.

What was Yss' mission specifically? Just to go and save the sneks? If so, we already succeeded. If he wants something else he's gotta pay for it.

Remember that Yss holds no gratitude towards us

Yss promised us clerics, and it's been heavily hinted that we'll actually get clerics once we get him his children. No children, then presumably a longer delay in Yss clerics.

As a side note, I wanted serpentfolk in our kingdom as its own reward.

The cultural differences are a big... strong in my opinion

The whole point of our capital is to throw as many cultures as possible in there.
We are making a cross-planar capital there, don't we?

Snekpeople are not as different as many outsiders will be :/

As long as we get at least a few serpentfolk I see no reason not to let this guy lead those who'd follow him.

After all wouldn't we be pissed if a foreign sorcerer came and tried to take away our population on orders of The Steven or Burny?

Stick to the facts and we should get a few anyway.
