I'd rather handle this once we own Volantis, and handling Amrelath for little gain will be a bother.

Yes, it is him.
We can trust the fact that Zherys wouldn't keep an absolute moron around, and he'd have to be one in order to think about betraying our trust.
Still, the point about "after Zherys is confirmed loyal" is still there just in case.
We'll be portioning information given to him too.
