What do ya'll think of a Blood Wished Control Winds spell? Viserys' caster level would be enough to blow away anything but the very largest of the spiders, at least anything Large-sized or smaller, maybe even Huge-sized, and it would neatly remove webbing as a concern.

Couldn't a fire shield protect us just fine as we do strafing runs with Irony?

Not even close. All the Fire Shield would do is cause burn damage after we have been attacked. That might deter smaller spiders, but the big boys are too beefy to expect that to be effective.

What about staying high in the air and sending down Searing Merciful Fireballs? Firebrand is nice, but Fireball gets you the area-of-effect, and it has a ridiculous range.

10d6 nonlethal damage for everything that's hit. No need to even risk the webs.

The potential problem here is the wild magic.DP alluded to it being more severe close to ground (right?), which could mean funny effects also for spells already in place, like our persisted spells. Possibly for items, too.

D&D webbing is highly flammable and even if that doesn't work, Merciful, Searing, Agonising Fireshield would greatly reduce the danger from the legions of minor spiders while preserving the Old Gods lunch.

...if this Wild magic bullshit suddenly decides to take out Merciful component out of our spells...
I'm gonna be pissed }:<

Each target marker of Firebrand covers 4 squares. Two castings fill a football field sized area.

Fireballs AoE is pretty tame in comparison.

Quick way to burn through a lot of spell slots. It could be effective, but it's hard to judge without knowing the density of the spider coverage on the ground.

This is why I hate wild magic stuff.
Can we blood wish Freedom of Movement?
Dany has it prepared and Viserys has Heart of Water active, which he can cancel to gain Freedom of Movement for 16 rounds.

The best thing to reduce the danger from all of the spiders is the Repel Vermin spells Dany and Malarys already cast. The wild magic, however, makes the spells untrustworthy.

If only we had built our magical prison, we could Baleful Teleport the spiders there for processing.

BUT WE KEEP PROCASTINATING ON OUR AZKABAN PROJECT

Just because - can a severe Wild Magic zone play havoc with the target of a teleport (as in, if we had teleported at ground level, using one of our teleports)?

I regret not bringing Lya with us. She would be perfect for this; Greater Black Tentacles, Control Winds, and Flashburst spells would all be so effective here.

Well, we've got to start somewhere.

EDIT: Updated version now posted.

[X] Plan "When in doubt...FIRE!"
-[X] While the others wait, Viserys descends close enough to ground level so that he can target the monstrous spiders with Firebrand (normally 270 feet maximum range, now varies between 250 and 300 feet due to Wild Magic).
--[X] He first targets the larger spiders with a Searing, Agonizing, Merciful Firebrand as a Swift Action, then follows with a Searing, Merciful Firebrand, targeting those same spiders, if necessary, or smaller stragglers if not.
