@Crake @Azel Can ya'll adress my concerns about the fate of the Valyrian Dragon? I don't want Zherys harvesting it for parts to increase his own dragonocity.

He's not exactly helpless personally speaking.

That's fine, I like my food spicy.

... historically speaking, the dragons lost their empire to the human slaves. I'd like not to repeat history.
We also promised our legionaires land. Intermix?

That could work. It'd sure as hell make any uprisings difficult to arrange because if there is one thing to be said of our soldiers is that those boys and girls are loyal. As well they should be, we broke their chains, armored them up better than any knight, and led them to glory.

Also we are, once again, a Dragon* so treachery is a stupid prospect to begin with, especially for some nebulous goal like future wealth or an increase in status.

*God I never get tired of saying that, I'm still giddy over the fact we managed to ditch the monkey suit

I'm inclined to accept it. Long-term this is to our advantage, not his: we will grow faster and more influential, and as ties deepen between Volantis and the rest of the Imperium his settled will be less inclined to tear it all down.

@Azel I'm guessing your plan is to settle our own former Legionnaires there, some as gentry and likely officers to form a similar counter balance?

The men we have will likely remain in the Legion for some time, so he'll have a significant headstart unless we make it explicit we'll be encouraging other colonists too. And again, I'd rather he not have so much influence over it that it might as well be his land.

@DragonParadox, by the way, this didn't come up during the turn plan, but we intended to send PCs with the Archons to Valyria whenever they decided to go. I'm guessing/hoping that the Archons decided to delay their expedition to next month? We wanted dibs on the dragon eggs and dragonstone.

We have a lot of non-Companion PCs we can send that are currently assigned to really minor stuff, like training Minotaurs.

Aradia, Mercy, Vaelana, Bronn, and Argo could go on the expedition. The only thing of any importance they are assigned is tagging along with the Dothraki which is currently scheduled to begin in the middle of the month. We can move that forward, if necessary, so long as the Archons aren't leaving for another week or so.

When would the expedition start @DragonParadox? Also, is it all right to move the Dothraki action forward so that it started at the beginning of the month?

@Crake, we will have early dropouts and I'm looking for Rhoynish settlers, who will have much less trouble with the Rhoynish fey then Zherys people. Ultimately, his ploy only works if he can keep up cultural and economic dominance of the region. That won't happen either way.

// when discussing the egg, we could drop a "want some pointers as to how to become a dragon". Benefit of not being our enemy and all that.

I was thinking Companions rather than Subordinates. The subordinates are behind in both level and gear, and this is Valyria we're talking about. As an example, look how easily Bronn was flattened Beyond the Wall. Multiply that by two and you have Valyria.

They aren't as geared as the main party, but they have all of the essentials. It would be a great place for them to get XP.

The problem here is, as an ally, he will ask. At least I would.

It's not something we can just give him tips on, though. It's a very specific PrC that took us years to finish. Zherys is a mage of some sort, most likely a Sorcerer, who is guaranteed to be past level 10. Probably 13th or 14th level, knowing how DP likes to advance NPCs despite them not often doing enough to justify that kind of level gain. Zherys simply wouldn't be able to follow our route to becoming a True Dragon, as he doesn't have the potential for growth left in him, unless he goes into Epic levels.

This is sending underleveled people, some of whom are level 5, into a high-to-epic-level Dungeon. This isn't Gerion and Lanna bullshitting a CR-appropriate encounter out of Valyria, they'll be facing what's actually in there.

I will strongly oppose attempts to send them without a Companion. I'm fond of them being alive. This is not just another place to get XP for baby adventurers, this is dangerous for the Companions.

I'm pretty sure the expedition is just to the edges of the former Freehold's territory? They certainly aren't going to their certain deaths, the Archons wouldn't throw the lives of their subjects away, or their own existences on Planetos should they be destroyed.
