@Mormont, typo in your plan. I'm assuming you were going for "Waymar of House Royce, Scion of... etc." You dropped a word(s).

  • [X] Plan Knight TNE
-[X] As is proper, you start by recognizing his deeds and valor.
--[X] For outstanding bravery in battle, for rising above and beyond the call of duty. For slaying a Cambion Demon with its own blade while at the tender age of thirteen, for putting to rest a specter with your own hands, for your participation in the assault of an underwater fortress filled with unholy creatures, for your participation in the defense of Cracklaw Point, for your aid in battling a mighty Mallor when but a neophyte, for your slaying of a Fire Giant, and last but certainly not least, for the outright smiting of the Dark Genie known as the Nameless One, Terror of the Inner Planes, and freeing Princess Embra from its curse.
--[X] For through it all, acting with honor and dignity, holding fast to noble principles. For that and more, you've earned the right to be a Knight.
-[X] So answer me, Waymar of House Royce, do you swear before the eyes of gods and men to defend those who cannot defend themselves, to protect all who need protecting, to obey your captains, your liege lord, and your king, to fight bravely when needed and do such other tasks as are laid upon you, however hard or humble or dangerous they may be?
-[X] And so, I hereby dub thee Ser Waymar Royce.
-[X] *Viserys proffers him the Ring, which activates as he rises* Rise now, a Knight of the Realm.
-[X] After the congratulations are done, do mention how a Knight requires a noble steed, and whistle for Cloud, whom you have waiting nearby, wearing resplendent mithral plate barding.
    [X] Plan Mormont
    [X] Nope
[X] Under the bows of a gods wood if available. If not then a suitably dramatic clearing or glade. Perhaps using the lay of the land staff to find a suitable location.
-[X] Waymar will kneel before you. Then say as such.
-[X] "Waymar Royce. You have served me faithfully for many years. Defending my family, my kingdom, and my person from man and horror alike. You have proven your skill, your bravery, and your honor time and time again. In the face of fiends, the walking dead, monstrous creatures, and the subtler evils of men you have been steadfast. You have never shyed from duty or obedience however onerous. Nor have you abused your skill, power, and authority. Thou hast upheld every ideal and tenement of knighthood since you came into my service. It is my honor to give it to you in truth."
-[X] "Waymar of house Royce, do you swear before the eyes of gods and men to defend those who cannot defend themselves? To protect all without prejudice? To obey your captains, your liege lord, and your king? To fight bravely against the Darkness and do such other tasks as are needful? However hard, or humble, or dangerous they may be?"
-[X] "I, -Insert name-, Swear by my name and power to honor my king, by my magic i will guard the realm against those that would destroy it, by my honor I would protect the innocent and judge the guilty, with my strength I will pursue my foes and chase my goal, by my wisdom I will heed the orders of those above me, by this oath I am now and until I am released from it a Knight, and my life is the realm's."
    -[X] "Rise Ser Waymar Royce."
-[X] Gather under a Godswood if such can be found
--[X] Fetch Cloud from SD to join Waymar and meet his family
-[X] As is proper, you start by recognizing his deeds and valor recounting particularly harrowing and impressive feats.
--[X] "Through it all you have acted with honor and dignity, holding fast to noble principles. For that and more, you've earned this."
-[X] "So answer me, Waymar of House Royce, do you swear before the eyes of gods and men to defend those who cannot defend themselves, to protect the helpless, to obey your captains, your liege lord, and your king, to fight bravely when needed and do such other tasks as are laid upon you, however hard or humble or dangerous they may be?"
-[X] Upon his answer in the affirmative, respond "Be without fear in the face of your enemies. Be brave and upright that the gods may love thee. Speak the truth always, even if it leads to your death. Safeguard the helpless and do no wrong – that is your oath."
-[X] *Viserys proffers him the Ring, which activates as he rises* "Arise a Knight, Ser Waymar Royce."

Yeah, I think "of House Royce" is better. Just the fact that we're investing Waymar with Knighthood despite not being a Knight ourselves is political enough; Doing so means we're using our right as a King to invest the title.

Juuust one change. I think we already have this family on the line. Arryn is really poorly positioned to defend their claim. If anything I expect more troubles from Waynwood.

All in all, I'm happy with my own plan.

I'd want to dazzle the Royces with Cloud in the best way possible, too. Works best as he comes swooping in, majestic as fuck.

I'd keep it to "Waymar of House Royce."

BTW, Mormont, I agree with everyone else about the "scion of Bronze Kings" bit. It would be better with just "of House Royce", IMO.

Eh, I wasn't that tied to it. I still think the idea is sound though I will admit it didn't flow well. Anyway editted it to "Waymar of House Royce".

This is a stupid oath.

I agree with TNE on that point, @Mormont, @Crake. Waymar isn't signing up to be a Paladin.

It would be if it were taken literally and he actually gave it as an oath, but notice he doesn't. In fact it's our response to his oath, and speaks to the ideals of knighthood not a literal code to follow or die trying. My vote actually has him agree with and give an oath to the accepted Westrosi knighthood vow that is common to both my vote and TNE's. It's effectively V: "Do you swear to A, B, & C?" W: "Yes" V: "Then do A, B, X, & Y." Just because we say it doesn't actually mean he gave it as a vow, it just sounds good all together.

Now all that said I do think it could be better if instead of "speak the truth always" it said "speak no lies". With the rest unchanged because then even interpreted literally it allows the option to not answer, misdirect, etc. Thoughts?

Does getting a body for the Smith we killed also count?

I'd rather leave out women and children because some of our subjects are neither men, women nor children.
Just swap 'women and children' with 'the innocent' or something like that. Nicely gender neutral and keeps in mind the women and children who do not need any protecting, be it because they can protect themselves plenty or because they are trying to stab you.

Oooh! And as a 3rd level spell with a 500 gp original material component cost. Viserys can spam it with Blood Wish all day long! Though the time duration for the spell will cause some trouble at 1 day per level.

But i guess if it's something we can't risk capturing or can't turtle or use smoky confinement on its something we'd make feeding to Yss a priority anyway. Should be good enough for fiends and Rakahasas anyway...if we get to the body quick enough anyway.

I've come to the realization that we can totally make kobolds for ourselves if we want to. Directed reincarnation is all kinds of awesome. Kobolds, elves, gnomes, etc.

Maybe we can do a bit of research and figure out how to reward some loyal Dothraki by turning them into centaurs.

I can't wait for some kobold minions... that will be glorious. The little egomaniacs are a vital part of any draconic empire.

Soon. :D

By the way, does anyone else want to visit that bard and take the artifact of the Crone from him? I want to sacrifice that thing for some awesome deific curse against the Seven. Especially the Warrior. :rage:

Probably best to use a focused curse against the Crone, she's not our worst enemy but thematically it's the most powerful.

If they hear about the idea they would probably love it.

But you're still telling him to do that even if he isn't swearing an oath which it seems like he is (or at least we're defining our expectations) seeing as it literally says "that is your oath".... I'm not exactly sure why we would want Waymar to be even worse in social interactions than he already is and I for one do not want Waymar to not lie in any situation?

Personally, I'd prefer "if it may potentially lead to your death then lie all you want, just make it believable".

Very true. Not sure how we'd go about making a curse on a god, but if we can pull it off I'd love to do it. Maybe we could make a curse upon any and all future clerics of the Crone?
