Polymorph any object gives you the intelligence score of your new form, it's cruel to temporarily give a creature sapience, only to take it away again.

And it would be temporary, one of the things that determine if it's permanent, is how close to the new form your old form was, human to CotF is close enough to be permanent, Dugong to CotF would only get us about 2 weeks.

All in all using animals isn't a good idea.

Ah casual conversation of not only building our own dimension of endless beach parties, but also the morality of crafting abominations against god and man.

I knew I picked the right quest to follow all those months ago.

Put an item of Curse on it then, it will never gain sentinence, and Dugongs are mistaken for Mermaids all the time but a touch up casting once every two weeks is hardly difficult.

The problems of using animals are far outweighed by the problems of using Humans.

Could we just transform some horny bastard into a CoTF for a hot minute, have him and a willing female do the horizontal tango, and then let the Natural CoTF raise the result?

Keep in mind I'm rather late to the conversation so I don't know exactly why Humans aren't viable.

Being a wage slave. As you can see on my avatar, the flesh is already picked clean. We are in the 'beat the dead horse harder' phase.

Been there, stopped that to move, am going to do it again even harder to get my own place. I feel your pain.

As I've been telling @Everyone for days now.

It's going to happen. It's already happening. By acting now, we can try to at least direct the flow of the information and profit from it in some minor way, rather than waiting and finding out from a rumor post in six months that Dorne is suddenly playing home to a mercenary company of oddly helpful spirits of air.

Imagine the in we would have had if we had bothered to talk to Velen about PoF and the cursed feather we have rather than spend 3 bloody days riding to see Tyene's family.

Construct raven carrying an arcane mark would have been much better than effing horses.

So, including having Lya & Leila learn druid spells, and getting all the extra lore Bloodraven promised us, top priority is going to be brainstorming ways to save the CotF as a race? We could run all of our ideas by him. If anyone's going to know if they'll work, it's Bloodraven.

Thus far, we've had quite a few myriad and varied suggestions.

1) Proposition some... well... hookers. Not for sex. Well, that is, not for sex with them, but... see, we brought a chart.
2) No? Well... fine, then. Moving on. Artificial Wombs. Mad science hasn't failed us yet. Don't let those stories about a man's creation turning upon him scare you away. One made without purpose can only lash out at a world upon which they do not fit! We only make LIFE for REASON!
3) Ow! Jesus. I thought hubris was a coward's word?! Fine. No mad science. We can go... on a quest. Surely no one fucking objects to that around here, right? It is dungeons and dragons, right? Then let's go! Over the seas and the high hills and the open plains, to the Forest of the Ifequevron we go!
4) I don't know why I even bothered. Fine! How about using Blood Wish to make them super virile? Surely a race that only has a couple babies at best will produce better results if given supernatural fertility?

...

5) Outsource this shit. No one can agree on anything it appears.

Not when we have to cast from scrolls, Polymorph any Object is a 8th circle spell, getting a single scroll cost us 600 IM, it's far cheaper to hire a human prostitute to have the child, than it is to have to do multiple castings.

I'm a little offended that Dugong didn't even make the list.

When the transformed sperm leaves the man's (temp CotF) body, it will revert back to human sperm.

By having the female be CotF via PAO, then only one cell in the baby will be half CotF-half human and the rest will be CotF.

This obviously requires the female carrying the child to term... Oh! Can we transfer the fetous from a polymorphed human to a CotF after about a month or two maybe?

We have Vee, Lya and Blood Wish.

Also, a combination of 1, 2, and 3. Find some Ifequevron for genetic diversity if we can manage it, get the hookers and pay them to participate, and then extract the successful embryos to be grown in an artificial womb. At an accelerated pace if that's safe, but normal pace is fine if we can do it en mass.

Unlikely we're going to do this from scrolls, I know you're keen but they've waited literally thousands of years, pretty sure 6 months will be fine.

It is also only cheaper in coin, it is more expensive in every other way, socially, magically, emotionally, biologically or do you think DP will just let it slide that a human had a different brain for 9 months.

I'm fine with a quirky Dugong, not so much a hooker who now has schizophrenia from the exposure to ancestral network.

Well, @Duesal, we can only make a limited number of babies at any one time, anyway.

Given a guess, they mature more slowly, and the Children have a different concept of what revival entails, or what to even hope for. They can't raise hundreds, let alone thousands, of babies at the same time.

They might be able to manage a few dozen at best, and it would probably be taxing, but fulfilling, for them. And we don't know how long it takes for them to be raised to maturity.

And we don't want to involve ourselves too heavily in raising them either. If we discover essentially intact enclaves of Ifequevron in Essos, we can leave entire nurseries of babies with them, too, but our local SD population probably won't exceed 50 for a century.

When exactly did we turn into the Kaminoans of Planetos?

Not arguing mind you, just getting some clarification.

You know when I started following this quest I didn't expect discussion about how using hookers, Eight Circle magic and literal reality bending to save a race from extinction...

I love this quest :p

What if said hookers get druid powers? ;)

I'm not going to support putting any resources or party member time into trying to solve the CotF's population decline. They aren't worth the effort right now. That might change later, though.

I still believe finding isolated populations of the CotF in other places would be our best bet for easily solving, or at the very least staving off the decline. Seems like a great mission for baby adventurers.

If we could mass-produce babies there's little reason not to, especially if we figure out how to safely extract and fertilize eggs (or whatever the equivalent is for the Children) and have Lya infuse a bit of positive energy to make the future generations less reclusive. Raising them can be handled by the adult Children and maybe the Ifequevron if we manage to find them. Hell, even whatever druids we get can pitch in. Bottomline, I see little reason to place limits on ourselves before we've even gotten the scope of this project.

Right after Bloodraven when we found out the Children didn't actually look forward to dying off. Everyone got excited. :p

Don't worry, this is something for after most of our conquests.

Something that @Crake forgot is that the Artificial Womb plan scales a lot better then the other options.

We can use it to mass-produce Minotaurs, Gorgotauers, hideous fish/spider hybrids, humans and a whole bunch of designer species.

We want them to culturally revive the Children, not just racially.

There's no point in doing this if we don't have enough CotF to raise the resulting as CotF.
