The question is would he be willing to swear on the no humans diet?

As far as the bear is concerned weak is synonymous with cheeseburger, nothing more nothing less.

Like Azel says, this requires that the bear spirit is more forward-thinking than, 'it won't survive the winter might as well eat it now for myself.'

Honestly, this thing is the worst kind of strategy player, everyone he kills and eats might have had something or known something or grown into someone that could have helped him in his fight.

He's fucking with his own argument when he goes on about 'culling the weak'. What is weak? How can you define it?

If a man is old and can no longer fight, does that not mean he has wisdom to share? Hell even having his opinion on a matter could be useful because who knows what he's seen or read or was told as a child beside himself?

What about the child too young to fight? Will they not grow into warriors if time permits? And what if the north is too dangerous for them to stay? Send them south, to the wall, let them be raised and trained there to fight against the winter that walks.

You don't throw away resources, you find where they are most useful and then use them there or in that way.

Everything has a use, and yes I'm including Aurane in that statement, even if his only use is a yardstick to measure sheer unadulterated stupidity.

Honestly, I just kinda wanna quote you verbatim back at this bear. Because it's just such potent truth that transcends mere burns and becomes an epic roast.

Hold up. Lemme modify my plan, @Azel.

I love how Aurane didn't have any screen time for so long except for a short mention of him doing something right and people still spontaneously rage about his stupidity.

When we win and our legacy is penned down for all to read I want this fucker mentioned in all his glory.

I want it highlighted in bold print how he fucked up so badly, from that point forward we used him as a measuring stick for how badly one can fuck up.

I want it known that even when he was successful it was in a way that it fucked up something else.

He is the grand puba of fucking up, the king of self inflicted failure, the sultan of incompetence.

The fuck up is dead, long live the fuck up.

Bronn fought a level 11 Ser Richard to a standstill while wielding no magical gear, and still would have killed Ser Richard if it weren't for that Valyrian Steel Armor. Later on he managed to wound an Archer of the Wild hunt again with no magical gear.

There is no way in hell he's only level 7. It's got to be 11 and beyond.

Not to sell Bronn short, but doing well in one or two rounds of combat do not equate to "fighting Richard to a standstill". Bronn very well could be level 11+, or he could have had a few lucky rolls, or Richard could have had some very bad rolls. All in all, we've seen too little of Bronn in combat to really make an accurate estimate of his level.

@Crake, why do you want to play nice with an unapologetic man-eater?

This guy has no point. Imagine how SD would look if we regularly "culled the weak". Even if nobody would riot over it, it would be a run-down shell with a thousand people in it.
Personally I want to play nice with him, because I believe he's a little like Xor was initially, it's just instead of Far Realm morality, he has Bear morality, it's not that he's intentionally cruel, it's that he don't yet understand the difference between man and bear, and amongst bears what he do is commonly accepted norm.

He's not evil he simply don't understand human morals, I believe we should give teaching him a try before we go to killing.

He don't know the values and norms of civilization, he don't know about the value of skills and knowledge, for all his intelligence he's still an animal in mind, and animals work mostly by instincts, we should give teaching him to find strenght and value in things that's not raw power a try before going to killing him.

If he refuse to change then we kill him, but I believe he deserves a chance to change, because he's not malicious just severely misguided.

Here, I am reading about bear facts.
- very curious
- 7 times better smell than blood hounds, ~twice the hearing of humans, bad long range vision
- strict social hierarchy enforced by posturing
- not territorial (but has a personal space depending on the individual)

I mean unless we're dealing with memetic-bear, that's probably a better mental chassis than our Minotaurs got.

@Crake, why do you want to play nice with an unapologetic man-eater?
Because he's more than that? He was pretty specifically cursed by the Cold Walkers, I don't think that's something they'd do to something not at least a little antithetical to them.

(entirely unrelated to me wanting armored rideable totemic druid warbears .. .. .. that are on fire!)

... I wonder if we can research the Were-antroph curse and make customized ones? Weredrake.

Speaking off Liset & Rivet will probably become valyrian druids. Aren't there a classbuild based shape changing druids - Because a PrC were they can turn into forest-y dragons would be so cool.

Ya'll are getting too verbose again. It's an anthropomorphized bear spirit possessed creature, not an enemy noble. Speak plainly and say what you mean.

You will also swear to rescind your gift of power from any who break this edict. Agree to these terms or know that you need not fear imprisonment ever again, as we will destroy you here and now."

A reminder that the Three-Eyed Crow fears the Others and even the great Dragons of old respected their strenght.
Why should we believe that a big magical bear is worth anything more than the men he eats against the coming cold?

I don't buy it.

The whole "too verbose!" counterpoint is so toothless, @Goldfish. @DragonParadox modifies all speeches to fit their audience but detracts nothing from their tone.

And on the off chance that a truly sweeping speech passes muster, all the better. You philistine. :p

Edit:

@Artemis1992 The current plan is basically just challenging the Bear to question his own crude philosophy. If he is incapable of doing so, then he is worth less than the men he would consume as he flails against civilization fruitlessly in hopes that nature might inherit the earth.

But if he's capable, trying costs us little.

We need a rating that somehow encompasses "there, there, you crazy person, don't fret, it will be all right". :p

Indubitably. *sagenods*

He's not worth more than the men he has eaten, if killing him would bring them back I would vote for that, but killing him wont bring them back, so as long as he promises not to kill more, keeping him alive is better than killing him.

Consensus?
