Question, is it +4 to creatures who are lawful or evil, and furthermore, is it not an issue of alignment but more metaphysical? Meaning it'd basically have to be an outsider of some variety to benefit from it, or something like Lya's arcanums?

The item could use a bit of clarification in general.
Subtype (Alignment) means Outsider.

Awww, and here I was hoping for a swift-action invisibility for seeker. Guess I shouldn't have slept for 11 hours, but whatever.
How good is this sneak attack he got, btw? I have too little experience with dnd rogues to know.

Booothersome. It's not like we've got a pet devil or Efreeti to hand the thing to.

Better with more HD, obviously. It's probably within expectations for something with its number of HD.

Huh...

It's funny how after I went to bed ya'll ended up changing the vote to not immediately stealing the inn and just harvesting the graft now. That's actually what I wanted from the beginning. Thanks! :)

Only reason I had changed my plan to the inn-napping was in-thread discussion about it.

We can use it for the +2, or we can sell it in Molten Skies, for creatures with those subtypes it should be worth the full price, so we can probably get a price, that allows us to buy or craft a similar item with other requirements.

Lawful and Evil subtypes, though you can fake it with UMD (DC 30).

Being able to apply death effects to all of Garin's successful assassination attempts seems pretty damn good on paper, honestly, even without the added intelligence. Not sure if it's good enough to hold onto it though?

I mean technically we could find another assassin devil and graft in what we did the Seeker into it?

Edit: :V

That mirrors my thoughts on the amulet. If we have Garin learn Vital Strike as his new spell, he can make two Sneak Attacks back-to-back in a single round, which would be much more likely to kill a target.

After he completes his upcoming level up, Garin's sneak attack will inflict 6d6+12 damage. Double that to 12d6+24 with a successful Vital Strike.

The issue is that his amulet slot is currently occupied by an essential piece of equipment. Before he gets this amulet, we would need to make him a new Enduring Item of Protection from Evil.

EDIT: Actually, Garin only has a basic Amulet of PfE, so he's due for an upgrade anyway. A new item with that effect and the +2 Constitution would only cost 600 IM. We should schedule that for crafting next turn, then have him start wearing the new amulet then. Just need to decide what type of item slot to fill. Bracers?

@Goldfish Add it to his healing belt and set aside the amulet after that for someone who could use it? Well, actually, we have Malarys on the docket for one already. This seems to resolve itself neatly.

Edit: Actually, that's a terrible idea. Make a new Ring of Protection Against Evil instead, so that gets targeted rather than a utility item.

Would rather put it in a new slot instead of stacking it on an existing one, but the Healing Belt would be a suitable base item. And if it's lost for some reason, we didn't lose a huge amount of money, since the belts are super cheap.

The old Amulet of PfE can be sold to Oberyn. We have the funds now to equip Garin and Malarys with Enduring Items of PfE. No need to be cheap with such important equipment.

@Goldfish Yeah, I just didn't really know what Garin had in terms of filled up equipment slots.

It seems he already has two rings, and his neck slot would be taken up by this thing. The healing belt isn't that expensive I guess, so that's an option.

The thing is the healing belt is mainly good in situations where a PC has been separated from one of our multiple healers, making them a modicum of self sufficient, and having it be an item that all enemies who use mind affecting spells and attacks target firsts seems bad.

But I mean... the situations in which it would happen to Garin are ones where he's in proximity to the party anyway. The ones where he's alone he'd be hidden and probably stalking those would be mind controllers.

Edit:

Anyway.

Eh, I'm find with an Enduring Healing Belt of Protection from Evil.

BTW, @DragonParadox, do we still have the unmodified amulet in the treasury, or did the OG teleport it to the altar and modify it, or did they create a duplicate that was then modified?

@Goldfish It was rather implicit in the text that Viserys noted how easily the Old Gods plucked the amulet which was in the treasury and modified it trivially all in the same breath.

The original amulet is the newly modified one.

[X] Give the amulet to Garin after a suitable Protection from Evil item has been crafted to replace his current amulet.
