An Audacious Offer
Tenth Day of the Twelfth Month 292 AC
To accept such an open ended oath would be folly, a promise even a god might fail to keep when faced with clever foes. And yet the fey are in their very nature makers of deals as much as they are mummers upon the grandest of stages. A more limited deal might be called for to see to the safety of this place as much as one can for something that lies in the heart of your foe's power. "I can not in good conscience promise to protect someone in lands hostile to me and respect your desire to remain..."
Before you can complete the phrase another thought comes to mind, a memory of grand deeds done in far eastern lands, a tower wrapped in its own shadow. Unbidden you feel a smile upon your slips, though you suspect it would better fit a dragon than a man: "What if I were to say you need not leave this inn to come to my realm."
Ser Richard, Tyene, and Garin react with a moment's surprise, followed by what looks to be a sort of wry resignation to your ways and deeds, perhaps keeping back sighs beneath the smiles. As to the fey, where a man might be incredulous at such an offer his eyes gleam with interest, though caution does not leave his strange features altogether. "That would be a grand deed to work in safety. How might you do it?" comes the question.
You explain the notion of sheering the Golden Hearth foundations and settling it upon entirely new ones on the hills of the coast in sorcerer's Deep. "The pech will surely be able to copy, nay improve upon the work of mortal hands, and the tinker fey will make good on any harm brought to the inn in the act of transposition," you finish with flattery and reassurance both.
"That will be enough surety, yes." Blazh nods so vigorously he almost sweeps aside the 'cup' before him with his beard. "But..." he raises an oddly long and delicate finger in caution. "The guests will have to be safely seen to, the rooms emptied that none can say good service was not given."
You readily agree, for it had been in your mind also that the false lord of Storm's End
might notice the most prosperous inn in the shadow of the keep. Unfortunately the hearth fey proves rather single-minded in assuring the protection of his home in the time before it can be carried to your lands. "I ask only that one of your vassals remain here as a guest to help guard the Golden Hearth from any foes that may come upon it. Upon my honor I pledge that I will not ask of them to fight any foes that are mine alone and were not stirred by the lore I will share as part of our agreement."
