(Our kids will be tattooed with mindblank, and then be tragically lost on a horrible accident. Only to grow up on a farm where they then set out to stop the Dragonlord from conquering the world.)

Only Azel and Sqweaktoy did the capitulation vote.
The only thing that is missing, is the lone obstinacy vote. xD

[X] Power of Warding (+Remove Fear, Mirror Image)

Normal people will love it unless they're enemies or damned, so that leaves... the undead and the more literally damned falling under the aegis of "everyone who doesn't like that." All of whom have been consistently enemies that Viserys has killed and killed and killed since the beginning of this quest, with rare exceptions like Azema, who is kept at arm's length at best anyway.
And that pretty much sums up my problem.

The last likeable Evil character we've met is Zherys.
We somehow got attached to Azema, who is physically repulsed by the new shiny you want.
Wylla was fun to be around too. Same problem.

Let's just kill the last few dredges of hope that we meet someone like them ever again, shall we?

Realistically, there aren't that many beings that can automatically detect alignment, or possess the Detect Alignment spell. It's just not that common outside of specific Good or Evil Outsiders. Most other beings won't have any clue about the armor's conflicting alignments.

Adequately prepared spellcasters might be an issue, but Detect Alignment is kind of a sub-optimal spell to be lugging around if you want to be combat effective.

Betting you 50 IM that the thing radiates Goodness to a physically noticeable degree even when off.

I mean Azema tried to flirt with the archons. Shinny plate is unlikely to drive her away.

Because we don't actively try to broadcast said Evil to every passer by.

We where trying to hide the hellforged property in Whiteharbor.
But Holy Aura? Obviously we should just murder everyone who doesn't likes that.

Well... yes actually maybe we should. Because if the Evil encounter is stuck-up enough to attack us on that point then they deserve death?

Or atleast being overmanned and asked to yield.

It is not like the thread would have spared the Archons had they attacked us on sight. Pretty sure they'd have let kept the sword if it werent literally a corrupting ego blade from demonland. They'd just frown at the human made hellforged armor.

I'm pretty sure Wylla left of her own accord to do some nation building, did she not?
Zherys, and basically most non-outsider Evil characters would be pragmatic enough to not give a shit about a Good aura.
Azema and Richard already don't get along, so I don't see a Holy Aura deterring her much, if at all.

Basically any Evil person worth being likable would easily overlook a Good Aura, especially if Viserys is the one attempting to negotiate with them and such.
Also, what happened to not caring about Good and Evil and just wanting to do our own thing? I would have thought you would prefer Neutral characters, such as Richard or Vee, over anything else.

Edit:
Also, forgot about Bronn.
He's Neutral Evil if I recall correctly, and he's perfectly fine so long as we continue to pay him the most money. About the best I would expect out of an Evil character, in terms of loyalty.

But nothing in holy aura says it does that just through proximity according to the spell description? Just that creatures of your choice get a defense and retaliation buff, and other creatures get penalized when you cast the spell, but only if they're attacked.

Is there some other spell or effect known as Holy Aura that works like an offensive AoE effect?

The more often we vote to kill people we meet rather than talk the less likely it is we'll get to know more people like this.

Your behaviour is as hindering to getting evil friends as that of the Good faction.
It's not like we ever had the chance.

The Devils in Whiteharbor attacked us pre-emptively.
Same for the Lys Lich. Who then took great care to make himself look even worse by bragging about the plague.

Where should I have tried to talk to someone?

Where should I have tried to talk to someone?
Other-Cleric and Khal Rango are all that comes to mind.

I really thought there was more, but now I realise that was mostly thread-talk about various people we don't or barely know IC.
Thanks for helping to clear that up, thread-voice and IC-Viserys are sometimes blurring together a bit.

Hate to break it to you, but affably evil is rare, and even affably evil is still evil. Evil folk, devils especially, are not well-meaning by any measure even when they act like it, and it would just mean Viserys having to sleep with even more of an eye open than he already does.

I thought the biggest source of salt in this thread was Viserys not getting to enjoy any of the good things in life because of stuff cropping up? Diplomancing devils into becoming long-term threats to our plans, position and life instead of just killing them for loot would rather exacerbate that issue, don't you think? Because you can't really think they would ever become anything besides spies, duplicitous 'allies' or 'servants' or what-have-you, of which there are plenty already.

Regardless, this is all rather strange to be complaining about, considering that Viserys is fully qualified to draw up a summoning circle and call a devil to make the proverbial deal whenever he wants.

I mean I'd say call it DP, Majority is clear without Azel and I, and my misgivings are more nebulous than his, hence my 'capitulation' vote, if he can deal, so can I.

Appearantly that would still take 8 days of Dany's time to prepare.
If there's anything I'm actually salty about it's that option popping up every turn with no improvement. We should just Call something harmless with no circle or preparation at all.

To be fair, the other people we've met are not any better...

Azema is going nicely. All I want is some kind of evil chancellor who recognises that playing ball for Viserys is more useful to his ambitions then duplicity and treason. Like Azema, just Lawful.

A good (not Good!) competent Lawful Evil minion would be refreshing. The question is where to find such a rare creature?

@Azel the Volantene necromancer would be neat. I want to see what we can do with animal soul gems and fabricated bodies eventually. (Seeker research ho'!)

Hm...

  • Bronn is evil. (EN?)
  • Azema...
  • Scholarium students???
    • We should scan their alignment anyway.
  • We had CE Glyra.
    • But CG Glyra is comfort prize for loosing CG Dany.
  • That ambitious Silvereye dude seemed LE.
We should just build a Evil and honorful person. Much easier.
