You need special tools and expertise and it costs a lot more but it can be done.
And what if the Mindflayer in question just rips that portion of flesh right off of Tywin? Is he still protected from Mind Control?
I don't know if @DragonParadox is using it as a reference, but there was an official, GRRM endorsed d20 game game for Game of Thrones back in 2005. I'm not sure how far into the book setting its material is, but there are PC levels assigned that should be pretty useful to determine what named characters could reasonably reach.

Gregor Clegan, for example, is Man-At-Arms 6 / Knight 4. Drogo is Raider 10 / Commander 3. Jaime Lannister is Man-At-Arms 1 / Noble 3 / Knight 3 / Brother of the Kingsguard 7.

Given that we are several years pre-canon, actually closer to a decade, all of these I mentioned, plus most of the others in the book, should be at least a few levels lower.
@Goldfish, that book is kind of bullshit. I remember seeing somewhere that Tyrion of all people was given Fighter levels. If that's the same book then I would discount every word of it.

Nope, he's a Noble 7 / Spy 2.

The book is still bullshit because this is a different setting. But I'd accept Jaime being lower leveled than what I posited. It's not as if I'd be happy about him being more dangerous than he already is liable to be. The only I expect to be able to kick his ass six ways to Sunday with just pure swordplay who's still alive is Richard, and of the dead only Arthur Dayne.

Which reminds me, not that I necessarily even want to kill Jaime (because the guy really did the world a solid when he offed Aerys), I wouldn't mind seeing a sword-to-sword faceoff between him and our sworn shield.

I basically expect it to be an epic dance of blades if it ever happened, with plenty of weeaboo anime as fuck moves.

Yes and no you do not know the location.

Consensus on the vote?
Well, we're definitely asking the Tritons when we talk to them next. Any portals in Prime Material are something we should at least be peripherally aware of so we're not blind-sided.

Hell, maybe we could gain more favor with them by having Lya craft an aquatic construct to help them guard the place.

Love's Pain.

Even if you keep them perfectly divination-safe and surrounded by guards, safety is an illusion as long as you love them.
Not really, it hit's your most beloved one, so you just need to love your equally high leveled wife/husband, more than you love each of the children, and it will hit them instead.

The spell don't hit everyone you love, it hits your most beloved, so as long as the one deemed your most beloved is strong enough, it's not a big deal.

If Viserys and Lya have children, then I would still expect them to love each other most, with the children a close second, and I don't think a max of 10d6 damage, is that big a deal for either of them.

You can also protect your offspring from Love's pain, by giving them a few items that increase HP, or give temporary HP, a single casting can max do 60 damage, so if you spend the gold to buy items that put their HP at minimum 61, a single casting will merely hurt them, and if their nanny has access to healing, they can be healed back up before a second casting might happen.

And that's without going all out, and Anti-magic fielding your children's place, so the spell can't get to them.

  • [X] Plan Fire. Everywhere.
-[X] With the Rod of the Battlemage, Viserys casts a Quickened Agonizing Elemental Fire Darts spell at the malevolent entity, using the remaining +4 Competence bonus from Grand Destiny on his Ranged Attack roll. He then casts Celerity, followed by an Agonizing Firebrand to blanket every square inch of the chamber not occupied by Richard and Vee, or her summoned creatures, with flames.
-[X] Vee targets the entity with Pronouncement of Fate, using Alter Fortune to make it reroll its miss chance if it avoids the spell the first time.
[X] Let the scene play out
    [X] Intervene
-[X] Tell Richard to fight off the spirit.

Lets not forget about ser barristan, i suspect the old man might still beat jaime's ass on a good day.

Maybe we should use self-Mindrape to make sure children stay priority number two.

We could cast it in the Dreamworld, I think.
We can also just get them temporary hit points, by the time we are ready to have children, I suspect we shall be rich enough, that we can afford to outfit our children with magic items, that give them enough HP that they can survive a hit of that spell.

The Bold is pretty boss, from what I recall. When he made that claim of being able to 1v5 Joffrey's Kingsguard, I actually believed him. Not that Joffrey's Kingsguard was all that impressive beyond Jaime. And only Mandon Moore was truly scary with Balon Swann and Arys Oakheart barely being worth a mention for at least not being totally shit at their jobs but not being on par with Aerys' All-Star Kingsguard.

Mandon Moore would use all tools, tricks and levers against you in a fight. He will kill you or die trying. That's what makes him scary.

And I believe that excluding Jaime from the confrontation, he could take down Meryn Trant, Mandon Moore, Balon Swann, Boros Blount and Arys Oakheart without breaking a sweat.

You're underestimating how ridiculous a 15th level PC would be.

12 is in the realm of believable for someone who's widely regarded as "one of the best of all time". Not even "the best in this room", but someone who makes you think "this is about as close to the pinnacle of bladework you'll ever witness in your lifetime".

To put it into perspective, a level 15 Richard would be the dread of most extraplanar horrors that get their jollies off making common warriors, brave men one and all, feel like cosmic play things at their grasp.

A level 20 Richard is someone who could go toe to toe with an Evil Overlord's direct lieutenant, and make them feel inadequate.

Does anyone have any qoutes on flaws, besides those available through d20 site? Looking for something like disfigured or horribly scarred.

On a completely different note we should offer to teach Shireen magic. Favored Soul heir to topple the patriarchy.

Also, holy heck I weep seeing all the funky flaws and traits the thread didnt pick during character creation. Would have been so cool to have played as Tyrion, Shireen, Myrcella, ... HODOR! All of them already with canon flaws to make peace with or even overcome to some degree. :lol

Favored Souls are not tought, they are chosen.

I would have loved to try for Myrcella. A Fey-patron Warlock would have been less inclined towards Law than Viserys.

I would have loved to try for Myrcella. A Fey-patron Warlock would have been less inclined towards Law than Viserys.

Law is best alignment, though. It brings together disparate types like Azel and I and lets us work together, and a good framework leaves rooms for more chaotic types like Glyra and Dany to act.
