The infernal healing is chump change compared to the lesser globe of invrunability

[X] Power of Sanctity (+Holy Aura)

@DragonParadox Can you give us an idea of how the choices will affect the armor's other powers, and how many charges the new abilities will cost?

I definitely prefer VIserys' play-style of kingdom scale. And I don't feel like I'm the minority in that, either.

I prefer Viserys over the other initial choices for a couple reasons; It's fun redeeming one of the most reviled characters from canon, and I've always preferred to play Sorcerers in D&D settings, since they are, of all D&D magic users, the least beholden to the Vancian magic system, which I really don't like at all.

By the way, what is the Deva's problem?
Even if it is bound to protect this village by faith and sacrifice, that's not so bad for a Deva. Sure, protect some backwater village is not an appropriate task, but far from the worst.

And with time and effort it's easy to change details about a faith, especially one as small as a single village, giving it more freedom to act outside current constraints.

@DragonParadox
If we had killed the Deva, could we have used the blood/essence to empower the armor too?

Also, is it's current situation fixable by changing the believes of the villagers about their guardian angel?

The faith and prayers of generations of people might have "rewritten the Deva's story" so to speak, or imposed behaviors on it that are contrary to its actual wants and goals, like a particularly powerful, insidious Geas effect. The protection it is forced to provide might not be in the manner it would normally choose, which could have some serious implications for a Celestial being.

Could we please not turn Richard into a Paladin with armor that enforces it's morality on him? This is exactly what I was worried about.

[X] Power of Warding (+Remove Fear, Mirror Image)

The charges will go up to 12 and Holy Aura (which most people seem to prefer) would spend 9. So that plus and a globe would spend all the charges per day.

Ah, cool. I don't suppose, as a cosmetic side-effect, the red accents of the armor could change to either silver or gold? If no one minded?

I'm aware, but we are also talking about a relativly small group of people while having epic diplo and mass-charm.
Changing their faith to something the Deva can work with would be trivial, especially if Dany is willing to take her Ghaele form and give out some commandments, in the name of ending its slavery.

I don't think that will happen. Some random due who puts the armor on? Maybe. Richard, on the other hand, is Lawful Neutral and protected by an inherent Mind Blank effect which cannot be suppressed or Dispelled. It really shouldn't be able to force anything on him. If there is a severe enough alignment conflict, there are spells we can use to fool the armor into accepting Richard as he is. Holy Aura is a really nice outcome and frankly more powerful than I was expecting.

Much more powerful.
Which is why I expect an "Explodes on un-Paladinish behaviour"-trap.

Even if it was possible, and that is a big IF, I don't care enough to invest that much time and effort.

This thing wasn't bound by just those living in the town now, but by centuries of residents who lived and died here, and what appears to be a massive self-sacrifice early on in the Century of Blood. We couldn't possibly undo that in a short amount of time.

From what Viserys knows of Ser Richard he would prefer common steel to an armor that tries to force a code of conduct upon him outside the one he chooses for his own. so whatever may happen Ser Richard is not going to be compelled to be good simply because he would not stand for it.

@Azel I understand your reasoning for not taking the Holy Aura option, even if I disagree, but why go with the Remove Fear and Mirror Image option? Aid and Cure Serious Wounds would both be much more useful. Remove Fear is virtually useless for Richard, and we could make him an item that provided Mirror Image for cheap, if we wanted. Or are you deliberately going for the weakest option?

Then I'm gonna risk it, but if this goes the wrong way we'll get some good, old Adamant and forge our own armor while Holy can go in the vendor trash.

At least the armor would be fully identified and we would know how much to sell it for; about a ton of gold, considering its powers.

EDIT: Literally a ton of gold, BTW, since there are typically 50 D&D gold coins to a pound, a ton of gold would be 100,000 coins.

Hmm, maybe two tons of gold? This is some tricked out armor, after all.

Then we get to the problem that Celestials don't want hellforged armor (also don't pay well) and Devils don't want Holy Aura.

We'd have to be careful about finding the correct buyer.

Sounds like a good excuse to explore the Plane of Air to find the Djinn's city. We could hunt some White Dragons for sport while we're there.
