Dealing nonlethal damage is easy enough for them. Just suffer a -4 penalty to the attack roll. Against commoners and low level NPCs they should still hit.

Why kill even more people?

Because the people who are still violent and willing to attack us and a group of survivors need to be put down because they're garbage.

Viserys expressed his disdain for such people in the latest update.

They're rioters and looters taking advantage of the chaos. Also, there's the element of natural selection with them being NPCs dumb enough to attack us. We should only have to deal with a few before the rest wise up and back off.

[X] Goldfish
Good thing we are not going after the meneads, there is a good chance they reverted to a .... Not sacrifice worthy state.
Is there a way to check if our turtles still have all their HD?

@Goldfish Garin and Vee are already with Dany, no need to have her use a sending.

Relevant winning vote:
[X] Have Azema give you a rundown of the most important officers and officials in town, and what they did to get sent here.
[X] Have her convince the fool to impress her by arranging a large dinner party (to begin in the late evening) in 4 days, calling in as many ships as he can (to have their captains attend).
-[X] Once everyone at the party is nice and tipsy, reveal yourself and convince them of all the benefits of joining you. (VotD+AoN, dismiss AoN if intimidation is needed. Be quite careful.)
[X] Arrange for our fleet to leave immediately for Westhaven, carrying several squads of Minotaurs and other men-at-arms, and our seagull constructs. After we capture Westhaven, the constructs are to report of any ship leaving the island, and have the fleet intercept.
-[X] Dany and the Pech, using Wall of Stone spells and Bulabar oversight, will close off the mouth of Westhaven's harbor during the dinner. Dany will set the underwater anchor walls, while the Pech link them together above and slightly below the waterline. Try to make it so that the stone can later be used to improve the harbor entrance, both from a defensive standpoint as well as to mitigate the effects of dangerous storms. They'll be guarded by Garin and Vee, all three buffed by Lya's Life Bubble spell, in case anyone comes investigating.

Ah, thanks. Plan updated.

[X] Make our way to the harbor to check on Dany and the Pech.
-[X] Viserys casts Air of Nobility (using two 2nd level spell slots rather than a 3rd level slot). As we travel toward the harbor, gather up survivors of the night's atrocities to keep them safe and instill into them the idea that we are their saviors. Any town guards or soldiers we encounter along the way who we don't need to kill will be ordered to accompany us and assist the survivors.
-[X] Richard and Waymar will kill anyone who tries to attack us or the group of survivors we are gathering. If attacked by another Maenad, they will instead subdue it; our relevant combat spells are seriously depleted.
-[X] Once we reach the harbor, have Vee begin teleporting the transformed Maenad back to SD. Tell her to have Lya Fabricate a metal cage for them, one for the tortoises and another for the fox, then keep them in the Tower's anti-Divination room.

Its not that... DP mentioned the possibility that they are actually transformed victims, they could have reverted to a fewer HD state. Lets call It humanoid not combatant fewer HD state.

That's quitter talk! Now repeat after me, "The Maenad are still Maenad! They are not helpless victims who we cannot sacrifice!"

We don't need to give Waymar any ideas about damsel saving.

The Maenad boss we fought likely wouldn't have been so adamant on freeing her sisters if there was a chance they could just leave the bodies.

My real concern is if they still have all their menead HD, It would be quite bad to sacrifice them to the old gods and find out we have a HD deficit.
Thus, poking the turtles to check their HD.

Before the sacrifice, if we want to double-check and be extra sure, we can drug them, have Tyene curse them, bind them (all of which are reversible, btw), and then undo our Baleful Polymorph on them just to check if they're still Maenads (along with divination to see if they're trying to fool us). If they're not then we heal them up, give them Heart's Ease for their trauma, and set them loose. I have no interest in sacrificing innocent NPCs, and double-checking to make sure the ritual doesn't backfire on us is prudent. If they are still Maenads, then to the tree they go. They not only took over the bodies of innocent dancers (most likely sending the souls as a sacrifice to dear old dad), but they made a lot more innocent people cannibals.

I say it again. The Old Gods don't take the souls of those sacrificed to them. Damphair went to his own god

[X] Try to restore order in the city.
-[X] Use VOTD and AON to control the crowds, emphasis solidarity in the face of atrocities etc.
-[X] Use non-lethal takedowns if necessary for pocket groups.
[X] Tyene uses her Major Image to paint a big "Dany come over" signal above us
-[X] Viserys casts AoN, keeps up the human disguise and makes his way to the harbor, keeping survivors save and bringing looters to heel
--[X] Priority is getting survivors of the townguard or garrisoned troops to help us restore order, familiar people will be invaluable for that task
-[X] Meanwhile Dany uses Divination to find out if hunting for the missing Maenads is likely to succede, then helps us with restoring order

Damn, too late to ask why VotD isn't included when the math checks out.

Is it to conserve spell slots?

Courtesy of @Duesal, here's our best guess for Viserys' current spell slots, before using two 2nd level spell slots to cast Air of Nobility.

Level 0: 6 Spells
Level 1: 8 Spells
Level 2: 6 Spells
Level 3: 2 Spells
Level 4: 0 Spells
Level 5: 0 Spells
Level 6: 3 Spells

Part MCCLXI: A Sweet Voice in Times of Woe
A Sweet Voice in Times of Woe

Thirtieth Day of the Eight Month 292 AC

Cheers have never rang more hollow in your ears, nor triumph tasted more bitter upon the tongue than in that bloody night over Westheaven as you call out with an ensorcelled tongue for peace and order against chaos you have yourself helped sow. You offer hope and salvation against the demons of man's worst nature let off their leash that night even as a demon of the Pit flies unseen at your side like some wicked sorcerer of tale ready to reap the souls of men to his fell purposes. Does it absolve you of fault that you mean what you say, that you struggle to give good lordship?

Four-and-twenty men: that is the toll in lives you claim with your own hands and by the weapons of those who heed your words ere the night is done. They were mad, beyond listening, you tell yourself, for how else could they resist the power of your voice? Somehow that does not make the sting of memory any less.

A single ship had tried to leave in the night, though they had warning enough to stop before running aground on the walls Dany and her fey helpers wrought. Alas that you had not considered shallower draft boats. Several of those had passed out of the harbor and your sister had not the heart to order them sunk. Still, such fragile craft cannot make the journey to Tyrosh all at once as a true ship might, so it will be weeks before word of what has passed here reaches the city... and like as not it will be garbled frightened rumor.

The morning finds you by the sea, surrounded by a crowd bearing torches and lanterns, freemen and slaves both, locals and foreigners caught in the tide of madness. In all their faces is reflected the same burning hope, the same fevered expectation that someone, anyone will explain the madness of the night of blood and madness. Had you possessed horns and tail they might have listened to you still.

What tale should you spin for them, you wonder. What mummer's tale to hide the harsh truth of conquest?

OOC: Again you rolled surprisingly low for super diplomacy, so no one has taken to worshiping you just yet, a fact for which Viserys IC is quite grateful.

[] Appearently some divine bastard has taken offense to you worshipping him on the wrong date. Don't worry too much, shit like that just happens, it's what gives adventurers work. I guess we can start rebuilding now, anyone against me being in charge?

Not serious, but might be what a physically and emotionally tired Viserys might say.

We are totally blaming Dionysus as an evil god of cannibals, and setting ourselves up as the benevolent saviors.
