Damn it. :(

Anyway, @Goldfish, gaze attacks are free. Assay SR lasts rounds/level, so we are good there.

Let's go with Quickened Dispel, Freezing Glance (free), Baleful Polymorph, Celerity, Baleful Polymorph again.

Done. BTW, if Viserys needs to use all the casting from the plan, he'll heal 17 points of damage from casting a 3rd, 5th, 4th, and 5th level spell...

[X] Plan "Turtle power, bitch!"
-[X] Viserys uses a Swift Action to cast a Quickened targeted Dispel Magic spell at the Maenad, targets her with a Gaze attack from the Freezing Glance spell (which is still active from the previous round), then casts Baleful Polymorph to turn her into a tortoise. If the Freezing Glance and first Baleful Polymorph are not successful, he casts Celerity, then targets her with another Baleful Polymorph spell.
-[X] Waymar Quick Casts True Strike, then targets the Maenad with Lightning Lance (his 1/day Ex version, not the spell), aiming both strikes at her.
-[X] Richard attacks, using Lightning Recovery to re-roll fails with added bonus.
-[X] Tyene heals Viserys with a Cure Critical Wounds spell.

She hit us twice. Once for 37, other for 32.

Still, that's too high for a Maread. A normal one, with a CL of 12, deals 6d6. With two castings, the average of 12d6 is 42 I think.

69 Just happens to be almost the average of 20d6, which is 70. That implies that she did some empowering or maxmizing metamagic, or that she casts at CL 20. Because it is really unlikely to be so unlucky with so many rolls involved.

@Goldfish

Tyene is 5 ft from Viserys. That means we are all in range for a WoC and for her to use the pouch for empower/maximize. Even if we're going turtles all the way, Tyene cas still boost from the pouch. wanna add it?

Edit: Bloody faceless spider fish.

Where's your face spider-fish!? WHERE'S YOUR FACE!!!?

SLA boosts get's metamagic and CL boosts cuz of mini-boss status. That explanation can fit the situation handily enough.

Also, @Goldfish, this should be noted:

Freezing Glance gets the free proc every round. Some gazes are standard, other swifts, others free.

But the spell doesn't explicitly give a Gaze, it merely says we can target a new creature every round. ;)

God, I love this spell.

EDIT: Faceless'd but the point still stands.

Here's the relevant part of the spell description:
Each round you may target a single living creature.

I'm sure her Cl is higher than standard. 2 times 7 or 8 d6 could easily have that result, just needs some luck.

Need some clarification from DP for this plan and for any future uses of Freezing Glance.

I mean, it says right here in the spell description:
Each round you may target a single living creature.
The only limitation is how many rounds we have it for and that we can only use it on one creature at a time.
It's a free action, all you have to do is look in her direction.
I love this spell. :D

Quicken spell-like ability and increased CL?

I agree with the metamagic, I was just pointing it out that this crazy bitch has an even stronger attack than normal.

And that we just survived diving face-first into the Earth while dropping from a plane.

@DragonParadox Last question, I promise! At least as pertains to this chapter...

Since Celerity gives us another Standard Action, and using Freezing Glance is a free once per round after we cast it, would that mean Viserys could make yet another attempt on the Maenad in addition to casting another spell at her?

I just woke and would need to sleep again but we're now at less than half life.
Sigh!

[X] Goldfish

It's not that bad;

102 HP (+ 26 Temp HP) - 69 HP + 6 HP = 39 HP + 26 Temp HP

65 HP ain't exactly critically wounded.

In just the next round, Tyene will heal Viserys for 4d8+10 HP and his own casting will heal up to another 17 HP, though hopefully he will only need to cast a single Dispel Magic and the crazy bitch will fail against Freezing Glance.
