That is some of Snowfire's proposed stuff, IIRC. As far as I know, all basic non-vehicle mounted Launchers inflict 3d8 damage based on the maximum size and weight of the projectile they can shoot. DP confirmed this shortly after I came up with Launchers.
Eh. Fine by me. That was a compromise to appease people who are no longer active in the thread.

It's also a ruling so old that we can just assume that the launcher design was refined in the meantime. The basic assumption had always been that handheld launchers would be awkward to use with such large projectiles, but some standardized cartridges and improved loading mechanisms could take care of that.

At this point I half expect the Eldritch Abomination under the Red Keep will go all "all hail the Imperator" when we get there and wish to join our side after witnessing the bozos squatting there this past decade.
I'd be down.

That said I'd also be happy with a nice sacrifice for the Imperial Deity.

IIRC the launchers do more damage than d20 system AK-47s at this point, even when they're not throwing alchemical munitions. What the fuck.

On top of explosive Launcher munitions, I see that we also included a large bomb in the Praetorian gear package. They couldn't use them willy-nilly in the throne room without getting caught in the large AoE, but they should still be an option. Praetorians are certainly strong enough to hurl one of these.
x1 Explosive Bomb: 20d6 Piercing & Bludgeoning damage in a 40 foot (12 m) blast radius (DC 20 Reflex save for half damage), 5d6 Piercing damage (DC 15 Reflex save for half damage) in an area between 40 (12 m) and 80 (24.25 m) feet from the blast, 1d6 Piercing damage (DC 12 Reflex save to avoid damage) in an area between 80 (24.25 m) and 120 feet (36.5 m) from the blast. Weight: 25 pounds / 11.25 kg
They would need to take cover behind some pretty sizeable stuff.

That's because the D20 modern system is shit. Honestly most RPGs have a deep seated hatred towards modern weapons, if they cross between comtenporary and fantasy settings.
Given thread discussion on firearm rules, for firearms we don't even have as we haven't done any research to create them, the fact that house rules basically were agreed upon regarding AC and Touch mechanics and how it interacts... this checks out.

Eh. They are not really balanced against d20 modern and they do have the disadvantage of only getting one shot per round, while the AK-47 can do iteratives. They are more comparable to the M72 LAW.

Praetori: "Your majesty! We secured the Iron Throne."
Viserys: "..."
Praetori: "Well... most of it is over there. Some is there. That over there, embedded in the pillar is one of the armrests and we are decently certain that a big chunk went upwards into the remnants of the Small Council chamber."
Viserys: "..."
Praetori: "... I'm sorry, your majesty ..."
Viserys: "Don't. *whipes away a tear* I'm so proud of you. Wantonly destroying everything your path for me. I... *wipes more tears* I need a moment."

Maelor: "He never said that to me..."

@Azel @DragonParadox

Lord Rosby: "Your Majesty, you are placing King's Landing in the keeping of this... boy? Not that I doubt his skill in magic, but surely the capital should be held directly by the King!"

Viserys: "Capital?"

Lord Rosby: "W-well why yes, the capital is where the Iron Throne resides."

Visersy: "You mean this thing?" *brandishes the shrink item'd pointy chair at Rosby* "Had to disenchant the fucker, and let me tell you, that was not worth the hassle."

Lord Rosby, paling: "You're taking away the throne?"

Viserys: "Don't worry, you'll see it in the form of multiple pillars around the Throne of Dawn... in the capital."

Lord Rosby, relaxing: "Here in King's Landing, then?"

Viserys: "In Sorcerer's Deep."

Rosby: "... oh."

Viserys: "And Maelor here will rule over King's Landing."

Rosby: "S-surely until you have some children to rule it in your stead, such as the way with Dragonstone!"

Viserys: "Uh, nope. In perpetuity. Forever. Because it's not like he intends to die."

Rosby: "... why would you trust him with this grand thing? Did he do some great service for you in the past? Save the Princess from vile durance?"

Viserys: "Ah--no. That's more Waymar's shtick. Maelor, well."

Viserys: "He fetches asses for me."

Rosby: "... ah. Well, very well then. Finding the King mistresses... that is a prestigious post."

Viserys: "...er- wait, you misunderstand--"

Rosby: "No, no, no need to explain, I will tell all the Crownlands how essential it is that we make young Lord Maelor comfortable here."

Viserys: "But--"

Rosby: "Not to worry, Your Majesty, I will make sure everyone knows about this."

Viserys: "... this backfired, severely."

Bronn: "Well, kid, it looks like you're about to be drowning in asses. Think you might be needing an assistant?"

Denys: "The rarest of asses..."

Maelor: "Er, what now?"

Tyene: "Perfumed noble asses, specifically those belonging to unwed daughters of houses looking to garner favor in whatever manner they can."

Maelor: "Oh. Ohhhhhhh."

To be honest 'he fetches asses' would be less offensive to the lords of Westeros than Maelor's actual past and heritage:
  1. Born a beggar and thief in one of the few cities on earth with enough magic to actually make tieflings in a time of low magic.
  2. Wields the literal power of the Pit
  3. Mostly gets sent out to do intrigue, which is to say shank people and steal things and lie his ass off.
  4. His best friend is the heir to the throne

@Goldfish, which size are the elemental we can summon from the gems?

I've took a bit to get back into the logic of the Praetori builds, but I'm pretty sure I can have them reliably kill the golems even without ranged attacks.

Not to mention his long assignment in the City of Brass, which is probably as close to Hell as most Westerosi folks can imagine.

I find the idea that some level 3-5 guys with fancy gear and template can stand up to several CR 15 creatures really weird.

Like, two to three hits bring down a Praetorian Initiate, the Golems have enough AB to hit for sure, that even without the Prismatic Surge adding a random chance to make a certain kill.

If these golems then then also have caster-support and someone with a reasonable skill in combat directing them this should be a totally one-sided slaughter in which barely a Praetorian even finds the chance to short his launcher at a Golem, nevermind at the mages standing back from the fight.

man remember when we send Mealor and Glyra into the swamp and they got us a hydra?

good times, we should assign them to more missions together

The important part ist hem abusing their own gear, abilities and teamwork to bring the golems down before they can bring their strengths to bear.

For example, there is zero reason for the Praetori not to keep firing Liquid Ice at the golems, so they are permanently staggered. That alone is a massive debuff.

That's what happens when you give every Praetorian 10,000 IM of gear, optimize their builds, stack CR +2 templates on them, and then give them protective wards that Heal them and give them Temporary HP when broken, respectively, along with a item that they can use to heal them, and an SLA that heals them, and a Ability that heals them whenever they suffer a critical wound or sneak attack.

These numbers are after a large amount of gems were assigned to the Inquisition, and does not count the gems being made during the 4th month.
Elemental Gems: When crushed, smashed, or broken as a Standard Action, a Large Elemental of a type matching the gem appears as if Summoned by a Summon Nature's Ally V spell at 11th caster level. The Elemental is under the control of whoever broke the gem for the next 11 rounds.
