That 80 foot radius burst is bigger than it sounds at first, especially once you see the number of squares affected.
Another really large battlefield-scale that isn't hard to access is Flashburst, capable of temporarily blinding everyone within a 140 foot radius.
Greater Black Tentacles could qualify, too, with its 120 foot radius and excellent effect, but I'm not sure if any spell with Medium or shorter range should qualify as a battlefield spell.
Come to think of it, Viserys using Shadow of the Doom would have ganked a lot of the undead. There shouldn't be any risk of friendly fire in the first rounds.

[X] Let there be light! -[X] Viserys will use a Miracle, while Dany and Lya use Inspired Spell and Wild Arcana respectively, to send a trio of Sunburst spells into the Storm Sorrows, overlapping the bursts where they can for maximum effect, but with priority placed on hitting as many as possible. -[X] The Moonchasers and Manticores will lend the weight of their Beetle Bombs to the effort against the Storm Sorrows, while firing on the Chained Spirits and Bone Wagons with their Steam Cannons. They will use their +1 Ghost Touch rounds to target the spirits and wagons. -[X] The Wyverns will harass any Storm Sorrows that break away from the larger flock and the Dragons will seek to engage any that get too close to our forces to safely bombard with explosives or spellfire.
For one brief dazzling instant it seems as though the sun itself had been conjured beneath the dark clouds, turning the black rain to silver fire and the souls of the damned burn with a wail that echoes across the field so loud it drowns out the drums of the dead and the trumpets of the Legion, war-cries and charging hooves, lesser chants and the creak of chariot wheels all are lost in the single terrible instant.
In the depths of his manticore Captain Dylar Hill of Fifth Squadron is briefly mesmerized, unable to even look away to glance at his instruments, until he hears the angry growl of his flight instructor through the vaults of memory ingrained through months of training. "Stop gawking and get your damn job done!"
So he would, beetle swarms would pour out over the enemy lines killing undead both lesser and greater by the hundreds. Steam canons fired a continuous stream of blessed steel that could pierce the ethereal. Lightning danced outside the skyship, some disgorged from the storm of bone and fury, some from the clouds above.
The metal of the hull did not turn hot with the blows, but like a smith's hammer under the anvil it turned cold, brittle. Frost ate away through the cracks and seeped into the cabin, it sank into the bones of the man behind the arcane mechanism. No weapon can be stronger than the hand that wields it.
Relent... Let go... You are but mortal under the sun...
The sky is not yours to rule...
A hand covered in ice reached for a communications dial. Where did the ice come from? Captain Dylar asked himself distantly. "Case Tarnished Silver. I repeat, Case Tarnished Silver."
Not all a pilot's training went into how to fly, some of it was hours of memorizing all manner of horrors they might be deployed against and how best to use the ship's weapons against it, and how to report perils more arcane that such foes might bring forth. Tarnished Silver meant 'mental and physical attack, possibly compromised', or in simper terms: 'You might have to blow me out of the sky soon lads.'
"Confirmed, confirmed," came the reply, made small and somehow sharp by the arcane transmitter... then "Echo, echo." The words were somehow scratchy, as though forced through parched throats. That too was a code and a simpler one at that, 'me too'.
Two other pilots were in the same straights. Somehow the knowledge that it was not just his life on the line, but that of two of his squadmates, gave Dylar the strength to turn the wheel sharply left. Back towards the lines where they had healers and curse-breakers. He was not sure if he had said that part aloud, trying to encourage he rest of his squad, or if he was stuck in his own head.
Cold... So cold...
The pilot shivered so hard it was only his harness that kept him in place. There was a dragon heading toward him, big, red, and there was something important about it, but he just couldn't remember.
Golden light poured through the cabin, washing away the clammy touch of death, and with the light came a voice in his ear, by sorcery carried that he had before heard only in speeches spoke into a crowd. "Good work there, Captain. We'll take it from here."
The King had just given him a verbal commendation, he would doubtless drink to that when the time came for drinking. For now he really needed to follow the order he'd been given. Dylar felt dead tired, which was admittedly a damn sight better than being dead or worse.
Overall Result: Enemy air presence destroyed, lines disrupted.
Losses:
Manticores temporarily out of service
The enemy is coming into bow range, how do you strike?

OOC: Well that was close to having some of your pilots turned into undead, but since the effect was so wide ranging the save DCs were actually pretty low, enough that they could make them, and once one of them caught on the others got a bonus.

Here's an edited version of the chapter, @DragonParadox.
Highlighted part of a sentence in red that doesn't make sense.
For some reason, it made me think of Captain America showing up, then helping a shell-shocked soldier back to his feet after fighting off a Nazi ambush.
Perhaps the questions I want to raise are no longer relevant, but they are important to me.
The first thing I would like to say is that I hate Lucan. I WANT him not only to die, my dream is to destroy the Seven to the ground, to demolish all their temples, to assault their dominion. And then, after a thousand years, resurrect Lucan and show him a world where no one even remembers such an insignificant teaching ... and after that, kill Lucan completely.
But I will not vote for this. Therefore, the question here is not what I want, but what I consider necessary. Seven is a faith that covers most of Westeros, and if we fight against them, then the small flow of souls "up" from this continent will practically disappear. We can't just take and abolish belief in the Seven and replace it with the divine triumvirate of the First Men or whatever. So as I did not want to, we will have to try on the Seven.
As for Lucan ... we should try to graduate him ... I didn't think I would say that. The bottom line is that he is strong and has his own party, which means he can be useful. But before the conversation, we need to be very well prepared in case of failure. Because if he refuses to bend the knee despite all our "concessions", then immediately after the negotiations, he dies along with all his followers. Augury on his minions, ordinary espionage with the help of ravens, or even the most trivial bribed people. All this taken together, the main thing is that after the failure of the negotiations, we were ready to immediately attack and kill.
About negotiations. Lucan knows about the state of the upper planes, but does he know everything? The main argument in our negotiations should be that Westeros, and therefore the Seven, simply will not survive the next decade without our help. A whole empire of rakshasas who are not known in Westeros (or rather, we simply do not know about their activities), but in the past they are already on the side of the Great Other, and I will certainly do so in the future. Fairies whose lords have almost godlike power, and plan, which does not suit any of us nor Lucan. Deep Ones in the past had enough strength to seize Nirvana, just think seriously about the faction that not only assault one of the outer planes, but also fought off the united forces of Heaven and Hell! Well, before the latter betrayed his "allies". And the tentacle lovers are clearly targeting Westeros. And most threat Others! They is not just the ice undead that is gaining strength behind the wall, it is the one who almost destroyed Heaven that awakens there, and they will certainly want to complete what they started. Lucan may not love us as much as he wants, but neither the Lannisters , nor the other Chosen, nor even the fairies, if by some miracle it is possible to smoke with them, will not be able to save Westeros ... and the Seven since he does not care about the rest.
The second question - this is what happens with the faithful after death. Now getting to the domain of his god , if he is not Asmodeus, is a great success. No matter how righteous you have lived, after death you will most likely go down, and this problem will not escape Seven. I am sure that Lucan is trying to solve it for his religion, calling more angels, trying to cover as large a territory as possible, but this is a fight with windmills, no matter how much he saved many hundreds, if not thousands of Petitioners who did not reach their kingdoms divine patrons. And we are preparing our own decision, but more on that below.
About the "concessions". Lucan's main fear, it seems to me, is the oppression of faith. No argument that we are not doing this now will work, after all, nothing will stop us from doing it in the future. I believe that our legislation could be expanded in terms of the temples of their rights and responsibilities and create something like a ministry of religions. In Imperial Russia there was such an institution as the Most Holy Synod, which was the supreme governing body of the church, and most importantly, it was headed by an ordinary secular functionary. I propose to do the same, but to bring together all the religions allowed in our Imperium.
What could this Synod do and why do we need it? The fact is that in our kingdom there are already many religions and the relationship between their adherents was complicated. The old gods hate Seven, Storm God does not like the old gods, the red priest for centuries fought against the Weeping Lady, well, Seven do not like any one but yourself (and the situation is much worse than the Reds, those centuries peacefully coexisted in other religions in the free citys). And here it is important not the fact that we can not suppress riots or jail all radical fanatics who decided to burn the temple of the "bad" of God, and to do to prevent such incidents. Yes, the Inquisition must fight the influence of devils or someone else from the outside, but what to do with simply overly religious fools or stupid priests? The ideal option is when faith itself regulates such issues. For example, Benerro (or Melisandre) simultaneously represents the Reds in the Synod and uses all his influence, which should only grow from this position, does not allow his priests to cross the line, and, as a last resort, requests the help of the Inquisition or companions. It is important that in this version, the confrontation between the state and religion is minimized, they must solve their internal problems themselves.
Second task for the Synod would be the organization of a dialogue and between our kingdoms religions. They must get used to admit the existence of each other, resolve conflict issues (for example, an overly zealous missionary who calls to burn other people's churches), negotiate in the end. The Synod will have to determine the quotas and directions of missionary activity, should prevent a religious war in our kingdom, and at the same time will help the integration of new territories. For example, if when we take Slaver's Bay, then we have to deal with the religions of the Divine Harpy and the Lady of Spears, and I would simply ban these beliefs in our empire, and then suggest that the Synod bring the correct religions to these atheist lands. Also, the envoys of the Synod could monitor the activities of religions so that they comply with the regulatory norms for temples (I will write about this below) , and there they could coordinate actions for religious expansion, give permits for new temples (according to the requirements below) and others. ...
tl dr Most important function of the Synod and of the new laws should be to prevent religious tension. We must create a system in which some permitted religions are not squeezed out by others, and the forbidden ones, on the contrary, are replaced by our religions.
As I see it, introduce legal terms: "chapel", "small temple", "temple" , "great temple".
Chapel - religious edifice of faith, whose followers th in the region of less than 500 people. On the area can be conducted ceremonies, and its walls priest has the right to preach, in his state can have only one priest, and no more than three assistants (cleaners, servant, etc.). The chapel is the only religious building, whose construction and status is not agreed by the Synod, for example, it can be built with donations or even simply by order of the local lord (Catelyn Stark chapel ). Officially, the size of chapels and temples is not regulated, but the limitation on helpers should limit the same Reds from building chapels the size of the Great Sept throughout Westeros.
The Small Temple - religious edifice of faith, the followers of which in the region are more than 500 people. In a small temple can be registered up to ten priests and 50 assistants, and in addition to carrying out religious activities of his ministers have the right to preach is not far from the temple (eg, in the city, where he stands).
Temple - religious edifice of faith, the followers of which in the region are more than 2 500 people. Up to a hundred priests can be assigned to the temple, who have the right to preach throughout the territory of the territorial unit where the temple is located, for example, the province of Draconis (such a number of priests is needed so that restless preachers, such as begging brothers, do not roam around our lands). Temple is responsible for assigned priests, and for any violations thereof, penalty corresponds temple. In an extreme case, with a systematic violation of the law by the priests, the temple can be downgraded in status, which means that all priests assigned to it will lose the opportunity to preach without breaking the law.
The Great Temple - religious edifice of faith, the followers of which in the region are more than 10 000 people. Up to a thousand priests can be assigned to the temple, who have the right to preach throughout the kingdom where the temple is located, for example, Disputed Lands. Also, a great temple has the right to have a ceremonial guard up to a 120 people. Another privilege of the great temple is the right to send missionaries throughout the territory of our empire, with the condition of full responsibility for their actions (the mechanism is the same as that of the assigned priests, and the punishment is up to the lowering of the status of the temple).
All numbers can be changed if needed.
Why do we need all this bureaucracy? This will strengthen the status quo for our religions and reduce tensions between them. I allow missionary activity, we do not allow it to be carried out thoughtlessly, because if after our conquest of Westeros a stream of Red Priests rushes into it, it will turn into a lot of blood, even without any malicious intent or secret conspiracy, ordinary human stupidity is enough. We also introduce measures of collective responsibility for clergymen. You urge "to burn trees - bloodsuckers"? And you yourself and many of your colleagues can no longer preach. You continue to preach (even without radical statements) without a postscript to the temple? And you break the law. The main goal is for fanatics and radicals to be silenced not by our repressive apparatus, but by their fellow priests.
I am convinced that we need our own Imperial counterpart to the Fugu Plane or Boneyard. I do not know how now, but on page 14000 where I am approximately, there is research about the Imperial Deity. A God who will not need worship and who, in theory, should receive strength from the work of our Imperium. The idea is to bind a separate plane or part of the Ethereal Plane, where all citizens of our Imperium will go after death, a protected place where petitioners can meet emissaries of their god and go to their realms. Again, I do not know exactly how to advance the study of the creation of God now, but from the fact that you need to explore to create that plan:
Deep, very deep dive and exploration of the Green Dream of the Old Gods. You need to understand how it was created, how the sacrifice of the rejection of the immortality of the Children of the Forest was carried out, how we donate another god to create our own plan (Fifteenth! I'm looking at you). And most importantly, how does work the mechanism of the transition Old God's follower into the Green Dream.
The only one who can do this is Uncle Blood Raven, so I'm afraid this research will have to be postponed until the conquest of Westeros.
Researching the process of death, what happens to the soul at the time of death, how to organize its delay and transition to the plan we need, and not in "laboratory" conditions, but throughout the empire, here I am thinking we need the help of an Tyangyl, angel who leads souls to their gods.
Exploration of the Etheric Plane is a natural stop for many souls after death, and we need to understand the principle by which it attracts and retains souls.
Enlist the support of all permitted religions so that emissaries can come for souls, and perhaps the gods will help us stabilize the imperial plan.
@DragonParadoxDid Viserys' Beacon of Will come into effect here, or did they all pass their saves before it would matter?
@Goldfish We should actually consider at least long-term some kind of way to boost or negate Mind-Affecting, will-centric abilities impacting our pilots. PfE is obviously cost-effective, but maybe we should go straight to Soulfire in addition.
Resistance items unfortunately cost a lot, but maybe there's a way to allow people to piggy back off the will save of the strongest leader they're in contact with?
A command variant would definitely be less hideously expensive. 5,000 IM a piece is a good cost for heroic PCs, but a bit much for each and every wyvern.
Perhaps the questions I want to raise are no longer relevant, but they are important to me.

Without going into specifics, you're touching on a lot of what we've planned and started to lay the groundwork for. You should start to see more discussion of it as you catch up to thr thread.
We haven't discussed any formal governing body for Imperial religions, though. That's something we'll have to decide on later.
A command variant would definitely be less hideously expensive. 5,000 IM a piece is a good cost for heroic PCs, but a bit much for each and every wyvern.
Yeah. But keeping the leadership in action should overall save lives.
There is also the option of making it modular. So if heavy use of mind magic/death effects is expected it gets issued while units assigned to Westeros can do without.
Not all Wyverns need all the bells and whistles. Mission packages should work too.
I like this plan you have suggested. I however will point out any plans of such sort would need to be implemented after the humbling of the Seven. It is a very good way to maintain peace (of the religious variety) but we do need to make sure that we keep our Pact with the Old Gods and not break that pact. Although I will say I really like the plan and it is something that I like. A lot.
The most cost effective items we can provide are PfE Rings for pilots. Soulfire items would be doable, but extremely expensive. We could set aside a certain number of them to assign to pilots on special missions, I guess?
Third Eyes of Clarity wouldn't be a bad addition to their standard kit, either. 300 IM each isn't too much for such a useful effect.
I was also thinking about supplying them with 1/Day Tyche's Touch charms. It's a long duration save bonus that decreases in effect after each successful save. 216 IM for each of those.
