@DragonParadox Not sure if you're answering questions today.

Regarding tax codes, but also reincarnation and marriage, what are the Shaitan and the Djinn take on them in the general vein?

Minimizing the list of suspects is good anyway.

[X] Before moving on to the Chosen of Smith, attempt to find more about his mysterious "benefactor".
-[X] Move to the divined "dead drop" spots, and apply Stone Tell, Speak with Plants, Retrocognition, in an attempt to learn more of the Mindblanked person -what spells it used (if any), the appearance it took, any specifics and tells the spells can give.
-[X] Use the Gloves of Object Reading to find further information if anything is found on any of the drop sites.
--[X] Apply spells that would increase our chances of finding otherwise impossible-to-find objects.
--[X] Limited wish to restore/gather specs of skin, that could have reasonably fallen off the Mindblanked person when depositing the materials - and/or hair.
---[X] Cast perception-increasing spells in order to see those in the first place.
-[X] Make sure not to visit the latest "drop spots" from the start, they may be watched in one way or another, it would be better not to alert the Mindblanked being of us looking into it.

Kay, I'm at my limit here.
@Goldfish, @Crake, ye sure we can't at least try finding more about the (presumed) Stranger's Chosen before yet more politicking?
We have a non-zero chance.
Looking at this, skin, especially not recent skin, is not a good foci to conduct scrying and divination with. Bone and blood is best, recent hair and flesh is okay, reconstituted particulate cells are no good for anything but highly specific magic like DNA testing through that one Ancestral spell. @DragonParadox? Confirm or deny?

To be fair, we also have Miracle at our disposal, capable of restoring a completely destroyed body, let alone turning all the skin cells "fresh" (and gathering them, ofc) even if they been near-destroyed by time and effects.

And from some cells, our Fungal Pods probably can make a fair bit of flesh to further try scrying on.
@DragonParadox?

Both genie empires have the same take on marriage as Viserys has just put forth, though coming at it from radically different directions, the Djinn care about individual freedom to love as you will, the Shaitan do not care who you marry as long as it's all neat and tidy for tax purposes.

Both polities are fine with reincarnation and the person benefiting keeping all their wealth, these are states that are run by immortals so the accumulation of wealth over centuries is natural to them, though they do have a strong cultural pressure for heads of Houses to step down after that is called the Three Thousand Years of Wisdom. Retired Shaitans dedicate themselves to a craft or profession. Retired Djinn often become adventurers across the planes, most head into the plane of Fire, though the more daring even go the the lower planes.

Both empires have a progressive income tax system though no property tax and they have anti-trust laws.

Viserys thinks it's worth a shot to throw miracle at it, though he would not try with most lesser spells.

@egoo , hadn't noticed that you were wearing your christmas clothes. They suit your... tentacles, I guess?
It's especially impressive when you realize those aren't actually ornaments, lights, a hat, or a beard, but rather extruded pseudo-flesh and chromatophores.

Far Realm Christmas celebrants are not beholden to the Yuletide Industrial Complex!

So, a random encounter on the lower planes can be an overleveled Djinn noble ardventurer.

Those would be very unfortunate quasits.

This is a nice little world building blurb, DP.

I wish we had been keeping notes for all these tidbits on culture, law, and history you have dropped for the Genies and other peoples we have interacted with over the years.

Embra's dad might have gotten upset that his chosen heir was getting to go and play adventurer right when he's on the cusp of retirement following the conclusion of the Genie War and ready to saddle her with all of his responsibilities. :p

@DragonParadox Does it seem like Embra's father eventually wants her to go into the family business? I'm not actually quite sure on her noble status though we know he's the foster brother of the Caliph. So I'm less sure if involvement in spycraft is much of a family tradition as it being generally the circumstances they fell into... we need to spend more time with Embra. Djinn culture is just as interesting as Shaitan and less stuffy than elaborate three-day Court procedure for one meeting.

Being the Vizier of the Whispering Wind is not really a family tradition, it's and appointed position directly from the Sultan's hand. That said House Rebys has produced many noted Illusionists and just as many skilled diviners so it's not uncommon for them to move in those circles.

Abdication among rulers is practically unheard of in Westeros and less of a thing with a record to track in Essos (since differing traditions) but does that Three Thousand Years of Wisdom apply to the Sultans of either realm as well? I know for fact it doesn't with Fire, and I bet the Emirs of Water do something different just to be contradictory. :V

It applies to everyone yes, in many ways abdication ceremonies are more joyous and lavish occasions than coronations since they mean the departing sultan or sultana has had a long and peaceful reign.

So what you're saying is, we can throw the Sultana the most EPIC WILD PARTY in the history of the Spheres thousands of years from now?

You do not realize what you have unleashed.

My god, we need to start collecting the sacrifices now. We need to leave a mark on the city visible from the outer planes.

"This party is brought to you by Quasits; hundreds of millions of Quasits"

"I could have powered a Celestial Forge with this much mojo, dear, but when I heard you were retiring? I HAD TO LIGHT THAT MOTHERFUCKER UP!"

If miracle could make malicious and damaging rumors go away Viserys would not have invested as much as he has in hearts and minds actions
I mean if he was not a moral guy he could have just went with the Azor Ahai thing and converted everyone into seeing him as a literal messiah, I doubt the faith would survive, they are lucky dread dragon sorcerer is such a sweet guy.
