Magic?
We're done speaking publicly, but we certainly can speak to him in private and layer him with a few buffs before he goes to talk. And he should be getting diplomacy bonuses because of his sincerity and the validity of some of his points (in this quest's Diplo rules).

This would require Lucan and Danelle not to state that - oh. Right. I'm an idiot. Admitting that we were able to infiltrate the Conclave so easily would...not be likely to end well, would it.

-[] "It was not an experience I would wish to repeat, to be left little choice but to see him pass from the world into what I hope will be a more lasting peace." If this gets a reaction, explain how you did not rend Baelor's soul apart, nor damn him to a hell of the Old Gods' making. For his power, you asked him to be given mercy and peace, and you have little reason to doubt that this was honoured. "Enemy or no by circumstance, he was my kin, Danelle. And that was not the first, nor shall it be the last, time I have given power for such things." Stealth reference to Rina. She's going to be extremely relevant later on.

Just to be clear, and this is not an accusation, I don't think Viserys was thinking of giving him peace when he sent Baelor to the Old Gods.It was mostly a matter of wanting to stop him for good given the resiliancy given by the kingkiller template. The reason I need to make this clear is because it might need a bluff rather than a diplomacy roll.

I'm rating Snowfire's plan insightful just for thinking to use Rina again.

Exactly. Lucan and Dannelle will obviously be keeping our presence secret. And if they don't, we can spin it to implicate the Faith's leadership in treason with the Dragon (isn't owning half the small council wonderful?)

Do we know what happened to him in the Greendream, then? As in, is @Tomcost essentially correct, or not?

Both of our visits to White Harbour sum up very simply the reasons why Viserys does not trust the Faith to secure Westeros. Because if we hadn't been there...West Harbour would be a corpse city.

Rina, though, is especially damning. Because the Stranger is meant to protect the souls of the faithful. And he didn't.

We had to sacrifice items of power - the fact we didn't use blood here is extremely noteworthy - to do the Seven's fucking job for them.

The technical truth is that we didn't intend for him to suffer. We are not malicious, we just get to be ruthless when dealing with something as serious as a Kingkiller

Bloodraven told us that he was placed in an illusion world where his gods had forgiven what he had done and that he died in peace.

"Fool though he was, Baelor was kin and once a king. A lying dream I wove for him in death that he may think himself forgiven and laid to rest, and the Seven may never again make use of his soul's torch for their purposes." He pauses as though relishing the surprise his words have brought then adds, "I saw to it Aenys Blackfyre was buried as befit one of royal blood, too. Vengeance should not be lavished on tools."

He did not suffer (because his suffering would have given Bloodraven a worse headache), I just needed to be sure of the inflection, if you wanted to imply that mercy was a reason you sacrificed him.

I don't think that we need to go so far as to state that.

We are pragmatic, but not cruel. That is how we operate. Because it has worked for us so far, perhaps even better than the alternative.

I'll be changing the vote a bit in line with,

Well, this. We didn't want him to suffer, we just wanted what he'd become stopped. And that he was given peace in death is something we both know, and are...not happy, perhaps, but thankful for. Baelor, despite his ability to defy his summoner, was still a tool of the Seven in this. And you don't lavish vengeance on tools. Not that we're going to say any of the last two sentences to Danelle, of course.

*cough* White Harbor.

Not as fun as Crakehall. :V

Meddling with the minds of his mages or digging through their memories would likely sour any and all future interactions with Lucan if he notices. So it might cost you to do this.

Mind Spider whilst they're unconscious in the Mind Blank room. There is no effective way to track that back unless you can pierce Mind Blank, especially as the action itself took place in a divination proof space physically and temporally.

It's "White Harbor". Not crucial right now, but relevant when it's brought up to Lucan.

... And that's exactly what I meant?
Excellent!
Was just making sure.

I remeber quote a few people being vehemently against any kind of mercy towards him.

Hell, Bloodraven is the one who arranged a nice loving space for his soul apropos of nothing.

Edit:
*sigh*

Secondary benefit: soothe OG.

Being cruel wastes resources. Because that time and effort could be spent better.

If mindspider so much as nudges a thought out of place they are going to know.

Think about how danys dreamwalking works. Powerful magic like that leaves traces, even when deliberate steps are taken to hide it.

I would instead recommend using divination spells to pluck what important info we want from their minds.

To be fair, if Baelor had said he did not want to fight, and was merely acting in what he believed the best interests of the Realm, we probably would not have killed him outright, but if he had actually behaved as such, he would not have asked for the Stranger's blessing in the first place.
