Which makes me sad. This would also require a connection to the Old Gods, which isn't present.

Mmmm. You know. This would also require a connection to the Old Gods, which isn't present.
That's something I'm going to be making sure we do in the future. You never know when you might need some immediate gardening.Mmmm. You know.
I guess the Old God's would have a hard time getting rooted, what with them all supposed to be being connected.
I mean there's a BUNCH of other problems with it.
But now I can't stop imagining Viserys carrying around potting soil for on the spot Weirwoods.

Wait, Weirwoods have seeds? That's good to know. We'll start doing that, alongside carrying enough of the Larder with us to make it happen. You could do it easily enough by simply carrying weirwood seeds around in stasis.

I am now very, very happy we exploited the ritual growth of the Tree of the Dawn Age to the fullest extent.Well yes, they are after all trees. They are very slow to blood or give fruit so if you did not have a small forest of them it would be quite hard to get seeds.

@DragonParadox
1. Can we assume our Leshys and Treants patrol and nurture all copses of rare trees for us so we can harvest them without fear of sabotage?
2. Is there an extraplanar market for said rare wood that we can begin to exploit? Waterwood in particular.
"Nice speach so far, but you might work on your allegories. 'A fire blown out by the passing winds of fate' just doesn't cut it in the major league.""You're going to have to be a lot scarier than a Lord of the Nine Hells before you'll have me pay attention to even a third of this villainous monologue."
We could sell via Relath.
We've robbed an Elder Evil of his lunch money just the other day, and that was after he jumped us in a soul fight.Something slams against your soul in that moment, too possessed of intent to just be the spell, and you feel the Conqueror's Crown burn cold against your scalp
I will be honest, I haven't liked Viserys' portrayal these last chapters. He seems on a hair-trigger.
Still a good precaution.Whilst a good idea, this isn't going to be needed. The ritual going off here is draining people all over the planet, yes. But it's not causing drain to those around the ritual itself. That would, well, defeat the point of being able to defend it. Thank you, though!
Things like gods of X can probably ignore simple immunity to X.Could it really bypass his +1 Soulfire Mithral Bracers? He walks around with a constant Death Ward at all times.
I'm doubtful, because he can take some random animal and petrify and de-petrify it in front of him. Perhaps even lay a contingency on, say, Karin, so that if she hugs the statue it casts Stone to Flesh. As for Maggie? Stasis won't really work, she's still alive in there. The only response likely to function is Flesh to Stone, and good luck convincing Harry to do that until it's last resort time given, um, Aurora.
Isn't it obvious? He even could have watered one with the blood in that cup (grail?).
Even though it wasn't filled with sacrifices we would consider acceptable, it's still filled with lots of lifeblood, that shouldn't just go to waste.
Just like the Listener's gathered power.
If Viserys does manage to interrupt that ritual he could really do something FUN with all that energy.
Poisonous enough that we could weaponize it? Perhaps the OG would like to help us in the anti-Others chemical warfare department?
*cough* scholarum report *cough*

I doubt it would be that hard, I'm sure the Old gods would be happy to pay us in Weirwood seeds for a sacrifice, if we ever needed a huge amount of them.Well yes, they are after all trees. They are very slow to bloom or give fruit so if you did not have a small forest of them it would be quite hard to get seeds.
That's fair, but he arrived with roiling anger in his gut just from hearing Maggie was unwell. To be honest, the end of the last chapter was playing with things I probably shouldn't have. This one, however, as the scale became clear? Viserys has a hot button for the harming of children. It is perhaps the most powerful one he has, just below harm to his friends and family, in large part because (as I see it) it's grounded in that particular occasion that a Red Priest tried to take Dany and it's just steadily gotten worse from there. He also likes Harry and his family.
Thinking about it, this could be a very neat way or restoring what it has taken from Maggie, while he shows Dresden petrification can be undone by Karin, who should for obvious reasons stay back as this is so beyond her league it isn't even funny. And the need for Karrin to stay back and hug Maggie back from stone-ness should fall easily with Harry, as it's a ready and reasonable excuse for her to stay back. However, Veil of Undeath is a smart move in that you don't get simple immunity, you heal from it.

While he is the type to take swift action, he is a bit more composed than teleporting mid-sentence without at least a "say no more".
For the petrification, he could readily allow them to test it. So the rational side should win out, as he assures himself that, yes, it works.
Veil of Undead has personal range, or I would have suggested that already.Thinking about it, this could be a very neat way or restoring what it has taken from Maggie, while he shows Dresden petrification can be undone by Karin, who should for obvious reasons stay back as this is so beyond her league it isn't even funny. So Veil of Undeath -> stop or reverse the damage -> dispel it just because wonky metaphysics are wonky -> petrify her at full health.
Or do a Greater Restoration and petrify her in the same instant through Celerity, either way, she should wake up without complications.
