Looking up angels and by the look of it the offering the planetars take is...get this...a sworn oath to slay five evil outsiders in the coming year. I imagine that in this case the offering with the Seven would be to kill enemies of the Pantheon and guess who we are.

@Azel If he is, I think we should bring in Malarys as backup. He has all the necessary skills for the environment and he is powerful enough to hold his own. He just gained access to 8th level spells, one of which he currently has prepared that y'all might find interesting: Sacramental Seal – d20PFSRD

When I read that spell, capturing was of course my first thought, but my second one was that it provides a relatively cheap permanent immunity to death by old age that can be applied even to those who can't afford to take negative levels. Sure, it's a pretty shitty way to accomplish that for people who don't want to be a telepathic holy relic until the end of the world, but many people would consider it a lot better than nothing, especially if we can find an ethical way to make possession targets available. I don't think it's going to be possible to make this available to absolutely everyone any time soon, but this provides a viable mechanism to permanently cure death. Anyone with valuable knowledge or mental skills could probably even get a loan to cover it; they'd have no expenses and all the time in the world to pay it off. It might even be good for teaching physical skills; being possessed by someone who is walking you through the motions, building the mussel memory and explaining what they are doing and why probably isn't a bad way to learn. This also has the advantage of being temporary, so that is is possible to just get a reincarnation when you can afford it.

If we can find an at all cost effective way to apply this effect to willing subjects, this could be huge.

An 8th level ritual would take 80 minutes to cast. That said you should not take it as given that Lucan used a ritual. I was offering a general reminder

Anyway good night guys see you tomorrow with more Oldtown intrigue.

So the three possibilities:

1) Lucan used a ritual for an 8th Level ward. Implying a great amount of valuable, rare knowledge.
2) Lucan procured a Mindblank item. Whether this was through his Gods or theft from another faction (implying some flexibility on that whole MAGIC NOT OF MY GOD IS EVIL business).
3) Lucan is capable of casting 8th Level spells.

With the antimagic build DP told us he'd be having, he's going to be a fairly hard fight. I'd want extra protection on Lya. Like, multiple Erinyes guarding her. Possibly a Herald or two.

Lucan
Antimagic Cleric of the Father
Level: ???
Known Magic Items: Mind Blank???

@Duesal, remember that Lucan could just cast Lesser Planar Ally, and the Planar Ally could appear with a stupid amount of permanent gear taken from the Seven's stockpile on their home plane.

Even if he can cast 8th level spells, Mind Blank is fairly limited for Divine casters. There are only a couple Domains that make it available. I'm betting on the Protection Domain.

I really would prefer not to fight him until we are able to use 9th level spells, in order to have Spellbane available. Antimagic Field is a serious threat when Lucas is backed up by high level Outsiders.

I mean, if he uses Anti-Magic Field, we're still a dragon... you don't really want to fight a dragon without your own magic.

I would say Viserys is a pretty terrible opponent to get matched up to if the entire time you relied on smugly being able to deny your opponent access to their magic. You pretty much deserve to be ripped to shreds then.

I never said the Mind Blank item being gifted by the Seven depended on the strength of the summoned angel. Just that either it was gifted, or he's just flat-out strong enough to cast Mind Blank.
I would rather bring the Harbinger. A big stompy bag of regenerating HP sounds just like what that fight needs.
Sold.

If possible we should try to divide and conquer. There's no reason we have to fight all of them at the same time.
