Guys I messed up the pacing in my own estimation I explained why I feel that way and what I intend to do to fix it, please do not pick over it too deeply though especially not arguing about the narrative merits of certain IC choices. I am genuinely concerned the discussion is going to turn sour and it is really late which makes me even more concerned over what might be said overnight.
I'm going to make my earlier point clearer: None of this is your fault, and you aren't responsible for the conduct of your players.

Well. Being woefully underprepared for this isn't even beginning to cover it.
Most Devout Septon Kyle (Tyrell loyalist): Wishes to make trading and alliances with the Fey theologically acceptable, some suspect he will go so far as to push for marriage with the Fey to be acceptable, likely to use exceptionalism as a starting point for his arguments.
1. What is his connection to the Fey?
2. Is he aware of the plans to marry Margeary to the Fey?
3. Are there Fey in his entourage?
4. How many supporters does he have?
Most Devout Ollidor (Traditionalist/Lannister loyalist): One of the few Most Devout of dubious piety the current High Septon has not been able to deal with because of his ties to the Lannisters and thus the Crown, he is for all intents and purposes the voice of Tywin Lannister at the Conclave.
5. What has Tywin and the Faith been doing with each other the last few years?
6. Was Lucan in Crakehall on Tywins orders, against those orders or what's going on there?
7. How is the relationship between the Golden Shields and the Faith?
8. What are Tywins goals for this?
9. How many supporters does he have?
Most Devout Septa Aglantine (High Septon's Loyalist): A stern and pious woman Aglantine is nonetheless known for championing the cause of the poor and dispossessed and a reluctant admirer of Danelle called by some the Maiden's Chosen for her good works, if not her choice in companions.
10. Why is she the de facto representative of the High Septon?
11. Why isn't the High Septon attending?
12. What's her desired outcome for the conclave?
13. Are there any specific policies she would like to see enacted, both in the Faith and the realm?
14. Is she genuinely a kind person or merely sees it as her duty?
15. How many supporters does she have?
Elder Septa Maer (Elder of the Riverlands): Known for her unflinching piety and disdain for magic, Maer was once made common cause with her brothers and sisters in the Vale, though the constant uncheked compromises with magic by the Hand have left her ever more bitter and isolated. Many see her presence here as mere 'heckling,' though wiser heads conclude that should the supporters of reform push too hard her fiery rhetoric is likely to gain her a great deal of support.
16. What are her own policies?
17. To what degree is she ready for compromise?
18. Are there any powerful backers behind her?
19. What are her connections to the political landscape of the Riverlands?
20. How many supporters does she have?
Brother Lucan: Speaking with the voice of the Father himself, Lucan is for many of the Septons present a man of paradoxes, gathering mages to train yet preaching against magic. Lucan's sheer presence and obvious blessings are nonetheless all but certain to gather support at the Conclave and perhaps most worryingly for the rest of the participants on the streets of Oldtown.
21. How is his general demeanor when among other faithful?
22. Does he have Archons with him?
23. What policies will he push for?
24. How many supporters does he have?

General
25. What are the relationships of these people with each other?
26. How many of Bloodravens agents are present and who are they?
27. What is Bloodravens angle for this event?
28. Do we know any of the less important Septons in attendance?
29. Can we easily insert agents into the Conclave and if so, how many?
30. How will the event proceed?
- 30.1. When will the first discussions be held?
- 30.2. Will the discussions be held with all in attendance or by design in smaller groups?
- 30.3. Will there be voting and if so what method is chosen?
- 30.4. Who officiates the event in the absence of the High Septon?
- 30.5. Is there a fixed schedule or will the conclave last as long as people are willing to keep it going or until a conclusion is reached?
- 30.6. Is there any protocol to deal with disagreements that can't be resolved by discussion or voting?
31. How is the event protected?
- 31.1. Who is sending troops, how many and what kind?
- 31.2. How is the identity of attendants verified?
- 31.3. Are there any threats anticipated by the attendants?
- 31.4. What is the protocol in case of attacks or civil unrest?
32. How is the mood among the population?
33. Is the conclave public or private and if private, are there rules against preaching to the public about topics of the conclave while it's in session?
34. Are any lords in attendance and if so who?
35. What is the Citadel doing during all of this?

[X] Do not meddle with the cults until you have a clearer picture of the conclave.

I have some ideas, but I think we need more information before jumping in, especially now that @Azel has pointed out the lack we're still operating under. We aren't on a timer here, like we usually are, so we should use that for all it's worth. We're the ones with an industrialised divination system, after all, which means we can get answers to all the questions we want and still have plenty of time to put a proper response to the GC Cult and the Deep Ones in place before the Conclave kicks off.

Some of this is stuff that you guys piked up listening to rumors though others will take effort to discover IC.

Would you guys like asnwers to the first category just in a post tonight or another informational post in the morning?

I'd be down for a full informational post on the matter, like the one you did for the GC/Deep Ones. That was a really well done update for what basically amounted to divination spam.

I was going to respond to this with rather more... Spice, but I want to engage with it honestly. Is this actually what you think of the people who have a different opinions to you about this? Are you truly this derisive of people with different tastes? I'd be happy to explain why I both like that set up and am happy to see us avert disaster (or not), but I'm not going to waste my time if it's going to result in more mean spirited sniping.
Ok, then I will spell it out cleanly. My question is:

If the cults are not directly relevant to the conclave and can be eliminated before it even starts, thus having no impact at all on the conclave, why have these cults in the first place?

They are in my eyes meaningless padding to the main event, which is in dire need of screen-time to deal with the plethora of open questions. See my above 45 questions concerning just the conclave itself. I can add probably another 20 or so if I start looking for interactions between the cults, their potential goals, and the different factions.

And lastly, I had high hopes that this event would actually deal with a Planetosi faith in a meaningful way and for once not have Illithids, Tiamat, Devils and whatever else crawled in from the planes being the main attraction.

Making contact with the LBs seems like a pretty obvious step that we'd take regardless of how we go about this, but sure.
No, it isn't. If we actually want to utilize that game piece instead of throwing it aside immediately, we need to evaluate all potential moves, which includes various disguises and stories, or even not tipping off the Lantern Bearers at all.

We should use our time in Old Town to conduct some serious social engineering, y'all.

What rumors done wish to sow?

Whose reputation do we wish to besmirch? Or enrich?

We have the time to really make an impact without lifting a finger or casting a spell.

Well the Tiamat cult is relevant to the Conclave in that they want to sabotage us there. As for the Deep One cult well I guess they are just more world building? Or maybe they have something planned for the cult that we don't know about....Which is why you want to wait and get more information rather than going in now I am guessing.

Mind you, my original impression was that the GC was operating only a temporary forward base somewhere in the Reach from which they wanted to do a bandit-style attack on a travelling group.

Which would fulfill the narrative function of "people wanting to smear Viserys Targaryen" just fine.
