My guess is the busiest mortals are probably Stannis, Zherys, Ferrego... honestly there is not a lot of really dedicated people willing to paper push 24/7 in this setting. Most of them are corrupt or licentious shits.

The busiest mortal is probably a slave somewhere. She'll die from overwork soon though. Only fourth thousand of her fellows to go before some rich bastard can be the busiest man alive!

Even slaves collapse from overwork and waste many hours being whipped and/or sleeping.

Viserys just drops for two begrudgingly. Or maybe even uses Keep Watch to do paperwork... I honestly don't know if Keep watch can interact with a Ring of Sustenance that way. That would kind of circumvent the ring's one weakness to a degree. Going to guess not, doesn't keep with the intent of the item.

It is known that Rhaella has been making some limited headway on this matter, in terms of getting Viserys to eat and sleep and take breaks in somewhat more human patterns.

I give it good odds that she's covertly roped in Dany and Lya by now.

Dany sends Viserys cakes randomly.

This is the best thing.

This is indeed the best thing.

So a question for the thread. Is there anything super awesome we haven't copied from 40k yet?

Viserys: "Amrelath, what are you planning for next month?"
Amrelath: "I was thinking a raid. And, of course, a nice nap. The plane of fire is really nice for that."
Viserys: "o_Oo_Oo_O"

Part MMDCCXXVI: Strange Winds and Odd Tidings
Strange Winds and Odd Tidings

Twenty-Ninth Day of the Eighth Month 293 AC

Though she is not one to wear her heart upon her sleeve, you can see that Siduri is relieved to be told to return to the Golden Wind and do more of what she has already been doing. Abandoning Yrten would have weighed upon her, and little wonder given how long they have sailed together upon the perilous waves of the Sea of Fire where trust is far more precious than any common treasure. At her suggestion you let her go ahead to prepare Yrten for your offer. You might have heard the words 'stubborn old mule' muttered fondly at the end, but no ears less sharp than yours could have.

Somewhat to your surprise the captain of the Golden Wind invites you to a formal meal with the rest of his officers. They strike you as a colorful and obviously battle-hardened lot, from the half-giant quartermaster whose attempts at singing are more endured than applauded by the rest of the crew, the purser with a golden artifice-arm hissing and spinning with every motion, to the harssaf sail master who even at the table carries enough blades for half-a-dozen warriors. Though the ship's healer is by far the quietest of the lot, the ornate brass mask he hides behind and soft dusty voice hints that he may be trying to hide something more than old scars.

Dany's eye is drawn to the same thing, and she is less discrete about her curiosity than you: "He's not actually undead, just playing at it, likely for the fear it gains him in and out of battle," she says upon a spell-wrought whisper.

You nod, though the matter is of no great concern to you. Even if he were you would have no objection to his presence so long as he abides by your rules. Setting aside your silver knife and fork, likely the spoils of some long ago raid that caught Yrten's fancy, you turn to the captain and the room at large, and make your offer: gold and men, even aid of a more direct sort like the Herald in exchange for his fealty and loyalty. You pledge to make him more than a captain, an admiral of his own fleet with a port of his own, though of course once the current hostilities are done.

"Corsairs you would make of us, whipped dogs to a would-be tyrant," Vadyr the half-giant scoffs.

You are about to answer sharply when you realize that he is probably using 'king' and 'tyrant' as one and the same, not seeing how any could reign save by the whip.

"I would make you rich and strong in my service," you reply, speaking plainly. "What do you imagine I would be using you for, nursemaids? I dare say most of you are a might bit ugly for the task."

A low rumble of laughter passes through the cabin at the jesting insult. You had obviously read the room aright.

"I ask only that you keep to my laws and harry my foes, foes like the hell-wrought ship we boarded together," you remind them, forbearing from mentioning that few of their number had actually made it onto the accursed vessel of Dis. "Could you have taken it without my aid? Perhaps, for you are bold and battle-wise with strong magic and a steady hand on the wheel, but how many of you would have lain dead by the end?"

"Dead men need not pay," the sailing master says, his burning gaze vanishing a moment later behind goblet of fireplum wine, likely bought for the name alone.

"The dice have no memory," Dany interjects. "Roll them enough times and it is you who will die, not just one or two, but the whole ship could fall to some misfortune. Beasts there are lurking in the depths, foes over the horizon, even in ports waiting to sneak aboard and slit your throats if they think they can manage it. There is strength in numbers... and in having a dragon to call on."

"Finely said, little lady. The bargain seems fair to me, and anyone who thinks otherwise is free to go ashore," Yrten speaks at last. From his tone you guess he had made up his mind before you had even set foot aboard his ship. All of this was just mummery for the crew, so they would have the chance to argue the point with you rather than with him.

No one moves, not even the giant-kin who takes solace in eating a leg of boar.

Before parting, you ask Yrten and Siduri to keep an eye on the court mage's ship in the hopes that it can be ambushed on its way back to the City of Brass, while also gathering any more news they can on the strength of its crew, the manner of its weapons, or most importantly its purpose. The Sultan's personal mage would not be searching out of idle curiosity in the middle of a war.

What do you do next?

[] Speak with the two fey who were part of the most recently eliminated team—though they may not have won on the sands, you could still find use for their talents

[] Mors Umber mentioned seeing another Northern group only recently arrived from Bear Island, one of them a full-fledged Green Man—perhaps you might introduce yourself, or at least send an envoy

[] Do an interview

OOC: This is shorter than I like. It's a decision point nonetheless since I need to know how you plan to approach as well as to whom.

Let's see:
-God Emperor: check
-Super soldiers: check
-Inquisition: check
-Sanctioned Psykers: check (we make people register their magic)

I guess not. We have even surpassed 40K by virtue of being able to recruit extraplanar evil beings into our service.

I bet that masked fellow is a Rogue mindflayer. That or any other of the hundreds of beings that would be killed on sight.

Do they recruit warp beings?

I admit that I don't know much about 40k, but that seems a bit unlikely

Warp beings, no. Not without being declared a heretic if caught, anyway.

Though technically Astartes and Primarchs are partially warp-based, partially hyper-advanced genetic projects.

A few of the more radical Inquisitors do so in a "fight fire with fire" approach. It has a tendency to end in fire.
-Rampant xenophobia: nope
The update says it quite well:
you would have no objection to his presence so long as he abides by your rules.
