Though she was not usually very good at reading the winged warrior, the incarnate could see clearly the moment when Mereth realized the word 'us' included her, too. She almost seemed to flinch away from it for a moment before relaxing back into her seat. Her next words were still a surprise: "If you need a warrior for the melee I would be willing to join.
Ahh~ There's the Dere Dere!

I can't very well let Leto get above herself."

Oop. No, right back to cold practicality.

Still, it is progress.

Ohhh so the Measters wanna get in on the broadsheet/political cartoon game?

Yeah definitely need to send out Azel's things next turn and "Steal a March" on them as the saying goes.
It's convenient that our five Arcane Printing Presses will be ready in just a few days.

Now we just need paper. A loooot of paper.

I remember reading most forms of early paper were made with rags and cloth. If that would help. Even today stuff like money is generally cotton/fiber based. Wood pulp is honestly the worst paper material. *glances at hemp*

We just don't have IC knowledge of easily reproduced paper. It's something we hope to learn in Yi-Ti.

Put it through a hardening chamber? Honestly we just need something better than parchment.

I think it's quantity of paper over quality we need.

Siigghh I think it'd be cool to get our political cartoons out ASAP. Anyone willing to just buy shittons of paper/parchment lying around or in extraplanar markets and not wait on learning to make paper ourselves despite the cost?

I'm going to have to look up historical prices for parchment. Probably quite a lot, but not a prohibitive cost.
the price of one sheep skin in Byzantine Empire in mid-10th century was 1 silver miliaresion. One folio of a manuscript was made from one skin, so for a manuscript consisting of 300 pages one would pay about 3 to 4 gold solidi - materials only. For reference, yearly wages of Byzantine regular soldier (comitatensis) was 3.5 solidi.

Does this help?

We can assume that 3.5 Solidi probably had... less buying power than our Legion's wages, actually, since they almost certainly earn more.

Probably we're looking at something like 10-15 IM per 100 pages, depending on market prices/scarcity of supply?

@Azel?

I think we should get away with 5 IM per 100 pages, as we encouraged a lot of sheep rearing in the Stepstones and own a few large agriculture companies.

Our animal products can also now all be cruelty free!

We can just grow beef, pork, chicken, and fish now!

Which means we never have to worry about those markets collapsing, or growing out of control!

We still need normal animals, how else are people going to get petty sacrifices, when they want to ask for a minor boon from Yss?

Parchment is better than paper in everything exept ressources and effort to make it.

Improving parchment further does not touch the core of the problem, that it takes a lot of valuable animal skins that have to be worked over.

Edit: Can we grow that skin in the Forge now?
