So we are getting the Varys info next update and then tommorow we are deciding to hunt the spider.

I haven't really been following the conversation and so I have to ask: What's the plan with the tourney? Is it to simply acquire some (individually) skilled heavy cavalry, or is there some other reason?

it is a PR move to celebrate our unification over the Triarchy and as side benefits: get more PCs and mock Robert Baratheon.

I can't attest for the entire reasoning, but I'm pretty sure we're using it for PR moves along with working on some of the politics. We're showing off the Empire basically.

Edit: Faceless'd :ninja:

And see also Azel's omake - make the participants sure they won't win a war if they make war against Viserys.

The only downside to Westeros emigration is that, when we conquered it, we have to cope with all the guys that stayed ...

Just woke up, but for those saying Varys should be high level because of job xp, I didn't think that was still a thing? We certainly haven't been getting any, even when we accomplish our goals.

@Azel, that dragonseed in your omake's an Inquisitor, isnt't he?
That was my assumption.
Not a full Inquisitor, just an Investigator, but yes. He's working for the nice chaps and ladies in the black uniforms.

The funny thing is that Samwell noticed full well that he was spying on them, because he really didn't put much effort into hiding that, but Randyll didn't want to listen. A good field commander he may be, but subtlety and intrigue isn't his strong suit.
He's possibly an Inquisitor, but i don't think he's a Dragonseed.
Valyrian looks and Essosi accent places him more likely on the other side of the sea.
Indeed. Former Tyroshi house-slave, who ditched the garish hair dyes.

@Azel
back to the airforce for a moment, do we have an option to deal with massed use of Control Winds?

How would multiple castings of the spell used against each other interact anyway?
Just using a casting from Viserys to keep the wind calm might be easier than dispelling everything the foe tries.

Edit: Even a level 9 Control Winds would be enough to break any plan for a battle we might have with flyers.

It's called "Divine it in advance thanks to the House of Mirrors, have a Companion on hand to cast Greater Dispel Magic"

Basically, the only option without high level spellcaster intervention would be to avoid the effect. The Darkenbeasts aren't nimble enough fliers to handle such high winds. Thankfully, it's a 5th level Druid spell and thus unavailable to the vast majority of casters (i.e. Lanna only). It is also largely indiscriminate in its effects; high winds that interfere with the Darkenbeasts are also going to hamper ground forces and could cause significant collateral damage if used in populated areas considering that there are no such thing as building codes on Planetos (well, before we instituted them).

Avoiding the effect isn't difficult, though. While the radius is pretty large, its height caps out at 40 feet. The Darkenbeasts can easily fly above that height, then bomb those protected by the spell; large boulders would be a decent enough payload, but Alchemical weapons could also be used if we're willing to be a bit loose in our targeting.

Fly above. At CL 9, the spell has only sightly more then 100m radius and 12m height. This is well below the height of a bombardment attack, even if DP ruled that radius overrides height. The worst they could do with this is scatter the munitions, though that ain't exactly improving their situation that much and they can't hit the Darkenbeasts themselves.

To actually pose a threat to an air engagement, they would need Control Weather and that means they hit their own forces too. Also, the AG-Fighters and especially the Moonchaser are a lot more resistant to these effects and the latter specifically designed to fight within a Control Weather effect. It could either cancel their casting or enhance it, then shell them from above as normal, since the targeting optics are enchanted to compensate.

Range is 40ft. per level though.
A Mage can just aim it above his own army, stirring up the sky without significantly hindering his ground troops.
