Also, @DragonParadox please let it that Viserys has used the bedroll. He couldn't have just waited till midnight and teleported again without refreshing his spells.

Viserys did use the bedroll.

I don't think that DP will pull Wild Hunt targeting us because of us keeping to an agreement of protection, that'd be the droppest of drops in lake of bullshit encounters and cause lots and lots of salt.

Well, that and the full Wild Hunt would murder the fuck out of us.

It'd also mean a lot of XP

It's not like we can't take them. A full "Hunt", aka a Monarch that has used its horn, is a CR20 encounter, tho.

What's bullshit is how the CR18 Monarch has 70 more HP than a 3.5 Balor. Or how a CR15 Scout has the same HP and saves as a 3.5 Pit Fiend.

Or how an Archer + Horse pair are a 320 HP, Freedom or Movement'ed death machine. Add a Dog for 60ft blindsense, see Invisibility and greater Arcane sight.

Like I said, the people who wrote the Wild Hunt creatures have not an idea of what game balance means.

But we are a party of casters, we know what to expect, só we can prepare accordingly.

There's also the Monarch's ability to reincarnate one of its victims per day--unwillingly or no--as a new Wild Hunt member. I think that alone should add one more CR.

To be fair we had like two spellbooks just lying around. One even from before we met Garin I think...
Meh, I'm not that salty about it. Now Lya has a small guild of casters to copy spells from. And for Divine spells for Archivist she now has access to a Lawful cleric and Chaotic cleric. That more than makes up for a rough start.

Hell, eventually she'll even be able to learn from Ser Richard by studying his Spell Turning and Mindblank.

We need to push Leila to level 5 so she can take on apprentices. Maybe if we could arrange for her and Xor to visit Mantarys? (if she trusts Xor that is).

Our six NPC wizards could learn spells from the Qohori spellbook too.

I really want to offer the Limpad and Velen the Elysium fruit. The former to alleviate her whole sadness aspect, and hopefully a bit more oumph; The latter because PC Velen is a possibility, and Celestial Phoenix sounds kickass.

Also the calpinas, they're kinda meh minions, and if we do it before the hatch new youngs. We might solve the whole emotion feeding problem and get stronger 2nd gen Calpinas.

Here's Alysande's spell list. She casts like a wizard:

0th -- Acid Splash, Arcane Mark, Dancing Lights,Detect Magic,Disrupt Undead, Flare, Ghost Sound, Light, Mage Hand, Mending, Message, Open/Close, Prestidigitation, Resistance, Touch of Fatigue.
1st --Charm Person, Erase, Grease, Obscuring Mist, True Strike, Alarm, Cheat, Detect Undead, Hail of Stone
2nd -- Detect Thoughts, Invisibility, Knock, Mirror Image, Fox's Cunning, Scorching Ray, Web, Rebuke, Sun Bolt
3rd -- Hold Person, Magic Circle against Evil, Slow, Tongues, Blink, Dispel Magic
4th -- Black Tentacles, Fear

No one, just him.

Is she going to try and learn stuff like see invisiblity while she's with us?

Definitely a possibility, though I'd want to send one more person rather than just Xor and Leila. Leila's way too important and fragile.

They could, but I'd much rather have Lya decipher it first. She's our best researcher and her PrC makes her immune to the alignment effects of spells. :D Once she's done, if it's safe then we can absolutely teach our baby wizards.

Hmmm... This has potential. But @Fehu, Velen doesn't need the fruit to be a PC. He already has bard class levels.

They're still Chaotic Evil like their mom. We need to test the fruit on a quasit or something before I'm willing to risk it on fey. Either way, as is they're making themselves useful as tour guides and having fun with Moonsong.

She better. If she doesn't learn all the spells she can while she's here I'll be genuinely pissed. The entire point was so she gets stronger to better protect Braavos.

See Invisibility, Fireball, Dimension Door, Fly, etc.

I think its fair to add +1 CR when a Horse is present, and a Dog almost but not quote tips it due to its benefits being somewhat expected by then.

It does make the Wild Hunt a CR21 encounter tho. And the Monarch has even more obscene stats and abilities than the already retarded Wild Hunt. As in, "I can rape Balors".

PF is usually bad, but this is just silly. Its like someone maxed out every single statistic they could, and the added a bunch of SLAs and special abilities that would let a normal, fray Fey to be competitive at those high levels, and then slapped another load of complementary, self synergizing abilities.

Someone said something about making Witchers when we were talking giving the dogai's sword to Renplacement. How farsighted they were.

Still, besides the Monarch being very, very bad news, we can mostly take it.

At least they have no SR and arent immune to fire.

Hrm, Alysande is only hanging around for a week at most, so lets say she gets 4 spells out of that week (she isn't as smart or focused as Lya, after all). Which 4 spells would help her the most?

You know, a long while ago I talked about making an order specialized in hunting a certain kind of monster, using Rangers.

I was thinking aberrations and evil outsiders, but I suppose it's only right and proper for Witchers to hunt Fey.

Whatever she learns, it won't be from PCs. Their time is already spoken for, and is too valuable besides.

But between Leila, Teana, and Kyla, there are still a lot of spells available.

Custom class that focuses on ferreting out and fighting Abberations, Evil Outsiders, and Hostile Fey?

Part MDC: Hunter and Prey
Hunter and Prey

Twelfth Day of the Twelfth Month 292 AC

You give not a single thought to listening to the horned lord of the fey. Whatever his quarrel and whatever his purpose he had made himself a foe to those whom you promised protection and then those closest to your heart. You would not step aside and neither would you treat with such a one. Fire is your first recourse, though you do not plan it to be your last, merely to weaken not to slay... and then the foe surprises you, but not as it has to far.

The swiftness that had served him so well so far fails him and three embers of sorcerous flame bore through his strange green and gold armor, drawing a scream of torment from the fey lord as he topples forward at Bronn's feet. The sellsword throws you a wolfish grin and asks, "Would ye be wanting a new pair of antlers for your wall, your grace?"

For covered in blood with a hole two fingers wide bored though his helm he seems unaccountably cheerful, alas that you must deny him his fun. "Always better to snare a live beast, master Bronn," you call back as you lay a spell upon the fey lord to grant it the shape of a beast in truth.

You feel the magic catching hold, yet oddly he does not shrink into the small inoffensive turtle you would have wished for. Instead brown fur covers him as limbs twist painfully into the hoofed haunches and his face lengthens... a great stag, though bloodied and burned, looks up at you with rage and fear.

"How are we supposed to carry that?" Dany asks, as confused as you were.

"I didn't..." You never finish speaking for the air in the center of the room ripples and shines like a curtain, a gate into some other realm. The smell of rich loam, of blackberries, of autumn in the deep woods wafts into the ruined common room.

You tense for an attack while keeping an eye on your strangely transformed foe... but none comes. Instead a great booming voice calls out through it: "Such a marvelous trick you have played!" Then comes a laugh and it is as the howl of wolves, the roar of lions, and the shout of a giant all mixed together. "But a turtle... bah, who would want to hunt a turtle?"

"More fucking grumpkins?" Bronn asks, sounding resigned.

"Bigger grumpkins," Dany answers, as she settles in the rafters above the opening gate.

In the sight of the gate you can see a shadow half-man and half beast with curling horns rising from his temples, and so, not wishing another mighty foe, you shout, "Are you the lord of the Horned Ones and is this one of yours?"

Another great belly laugh is your only answer at first, then the one upon the threshold answers. "I am but one who feasts upon his table, but the one who you chained to beast's shape once hunted to my horn and so I am called. A favor he asked that I spare him the flames, and behold is he not spared?"

Indeed the stag no longer burns, but he is still indubitably a stag. "What would you do with him, then?" Lya asks, curious as ever.

"For three years times three he who has already been felled by mortal magics will wear this skin and be prey to the children of man. If by the end he is not slain I will give him back his true shape," comes the answer.

"And what of his trespass here?" you question sharply.

"What trespass?" the great spirit says, laughter still rumbling behind his words. "Blazh gave away a secret born of wine at feast-time, and for that he was hunted. Yet he hid well and sold his lore wisely, so now the hunter has become hunted in his stead."

What do you respond?

[] Demand recompense for his attack on you and yours

[] Let the fey stag pass

[] Write in

OOC: He was going to crit-fail a save eventually.

Seems settled. If we make demands, we'll raise it up the chain of command in the hunt. Three years is fine (though I hold no illusions that he'll perish). Time is our most valuable asset after all. I expect it to be three years exactly, so Viserys just needs to make sure 12/12/295 is free on his calendar.
