I wonder how the war started between the Fairy Home Realms and Dark Star in the first place. Their territories aren't even near each other.

So this isn't even close to an adequate representation, then.
I'm not sure even a 3D map would work that well either, really, with the cross-dimensional nature of the setting.

Make a spherical representation, then realize that the vast majority of that sphere is empty space, and take advantage of that empty space by squishing the sphere down into a circle. Then take advantage of the fact that major changes in battle lines are a rare event to allow you to just do a few cross sections of the time axis.
