"Hey, Yumi!" Shoji, one of your best friends, calls to you as you space out on your walk to school, "Wait up!"
You slow down for him, spinning on your heel with a smile, "Shoji! How's your end of the project goin'?"
"Oh, I'm done!" He replies, finally catching up, "I did it all last night!"
"All of it? Including my part?" You raise an eyebrow.
Shoji's eyes narrow as realization sets in. "...Guess I went a bit overboard."
"Did you sleep last night?" You adopt a more serious tone.
"...Ah, damn, I knew I forgot--!!"
"Dude!" You cut him off, "You can't keep doing this to yourself! A-And besides that, it's not fair to you that you're doing all of the project!"
"I just couldn't sleep last night, so I figured I'd do something productive!" Shoji defends his horrible sleeping habits, "I don't control when I go to sleep!"
"That's because you stay up all night reading Mana Horse fanfiction!" You poke him on the forehead, "Try practicing sit-ups instead! I know you have trouble with those!"
"That's a low blow, Yumi." Shoji suddenly seems deathly serious, "Almost as low as bringing up your fascination with the girls' volleyball team."
You stop dead in your tracks, and turn to face him. Silence falls over you both as you glare at each other.
...Until the tension is replaced with laughter from the both of you.
"Oh my gosh, you still remember that?!" You nudge Shoji with your elbow, "That was all the way back in the sixth grade!"
"And I don't ever read Mana Horse fanfics anymore!" Shoji shoots back with a proud smile, "I read Greater Fantasm fics now."
"Oh, those ones are good."
"I know, right? Like, this one I'm reading, your brother would like it, it's called..."
There's a slight shift in the air. You feel it deep in your bones. Something is wrong, and it's close, but you can't figure out what.
"...Yumi? You alright?" Shoji asks, finally snapping out of his rant/recommendation.
"Hey, do you feel that?" You ask him, looking off in the direction of the "disturbance".
"...Feel what?" He asks you right back, "H-Hey, you're not gonna noogie me like Yuki does and say "Feel that!", are you?"
"No, I'm serious, Shoji! Something's not--?!"
It all happens in a heartbeat.
You spot a little girl with pink hair running like a bat outta hell from the alley in front of you.
Hot on her heels is something you can only describe as a monster.
Shoji calls out to you as your feet move without your input.
You don't even think as you rush into the fray.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Before your paw can even move to call the Sailor Guardians, you see a red blur slam into the Droid chasing Chibiusa. What's even more surprising is the fact that this actually knocks the Droid off of its feet.
The second that the both of them hit the ground, the red haired girl is already upon the Droid with punch after punch straight to the Droid's face.
A boy runs up, leaping into the air. The red haired girl instantly rolls off of the Droid, giving the boy a clear shot to--
No.
No!
He's not gonna--!!
He's gonna--!!
The young man's elbow strikes center mass on the Droid's head.
If you remember correctly, what he just did is called the "people's elbow".
And he did it as soon as he saw his friend start the fight.
You'd expected ferocity from monsters, but not random people! What in the Moon Kingdom's name got them so mad?!
