War? Starfleet command hasn't said anything about a war, so I don't know why my fellow ship designers seem to think we're having one soon. :V

Until we can figure out how we're pulling industry out of alternate timelines, or however we're making the six-ship run work, I'm gonna stay conservative here.
 
I agree, but needs must when the devil drives and all that. Having more patrol ships that we can throw into wolfpack squadrons will be very important.
I'm skeptical that 11 Stingrays will be qualitatively different than 8.

8 is already enough for 2 to be attached to each of our Cruisers, if that's a thing.

Especially when the opportunity cost is +12.2 industry.

This doubles our ability to patrol, this is good!

So basically we can have 1 per colony and 2 floating 3 ship QRFs as needed

The distances and speeds we're still dealing with don't really lend to QRFs operating much further than Sol and its immediate backyard.
 
I'm completely lost on the industry numbers here, they seem to be saying a single Stingray costs 15 instead of 25.

We probably shouldn't bank on being able to spend a lot of time designing and beginning production of a new ship during a war, so I think we ought to build up a reserve to (optimistically) handle the job or (pessimistically) buy us time to make something more well equipped for warfare.

Okay, changed my mind. While six ships are probably the better choice from the perspective of somebody who knows we'll soon be at war, in-character, three ships makes more sense. No metagaming today.

With the updated mobility, this is a very serviceable ship and we'll get a lot of mileage out of it as a second line behind our big flagships.
