It was a joking post, but to take it seriously... Mathilde doesn't really need a retinue, is the thing. She's not even well-suited to having one.

She's plenty self-sufficient, doesn't really need any more minions than she already has, occasionally goes on solo adventures that we couldn't bring many people on, and our method of transportation, the gyrocarriage, doesn't really allow for a very large amount of people to come along to other places with us.
Also, as demonstrated by her latest adventures in Kislev, Mathilde can always just go poke the nearest appropriate local lord to muster their forces and then chivvy said forces into the appropriate position with RoW if she does turn out to need a retinue/army for something or another.

there is something to be said for knightbringer retinue being a force that can be summoned anywhere, doesnt need to be supplied with food/water/ect, doesnt have moral to break, and that cant really be prepared for because an enemy assassins infiltrating your castle and summoning an army is the sort of thing people dont plan for. i think it would fit our playstyle very well.

dropping Middenland, would prefer it over Nordland, but I really, really want to get a few interactions with the Dark Elves in before the High elves get into the game.

we will lose a lot of 'free space' to make deals and have interactions when they are there to get upset at it and throw political weight around to block it. (and the other way around a bit.)
Are you familiar with the term 'bidding war'? Anything we lose in freedom we more than gain in leverage by openly pitting the two rivals against each other.

Assuming you think the Druchii could ever be trusted. And could be worked with even assuming they can be trusted. I remain unconvinced on either point.

I believe we have more to gain from an azur-druchii bidding war than a nordland-middenland bidding war. mostly because we are operating as the head of the waystone project, not as the empire's spymaster and the dark and high elves both operate waystone networks and possess knowledge we could learn from. while the nordland disputes are someone else's problem. but that's just my assessment

Mathilde gives it somewhere from one in six to one in two odds of tearing a hole straight into the Warp.

Once it's been there long enough, the liminal barrier between it and reality will be as thick as it is anywhere else. That means that using Vitae in that spot will just create a new realm between her and the existing one, and pulling it with her soul wouldn't be strong enough to reopen it - the liminal barrier is very tough, which is why reality is still a thing that exists.
...Put together these two statements seem to imply that we have between an 18% and 50% chance of ripping our way back into closed liminal spaces, assuming we can:

1 learn a very dangerous battle magic
2 learn to aim it in a plane that we don't even have words to describe
3 put a second liminal realm in between the old one and reality
4 actually find old liminal realms to aim at
5 make sure that pit of shades doesn't just kill you anyways even when it leads to a place that has three spatial dimensions
6 overcome whatever defenses or countermeasures the person who originally made the liminal space we're breaking into may have left behind

I see no possible ways that this could go wrong.

The eonir are already working to play the druchii and the azur against each other. We don't need to do it for them unless we're looking to personally profit, and I can't think of anything I'd want out of that more than elf dad headpats so I'd pass tbh

If we want personal profit, we can just sell ilithmar.

Caught up!

As much as I'm interested in how Boris is doing, showing up to his coronation when he had Mathilde murder his father to inherit seems like it would make an already bad day worse for him.

It's kinda expected though, by absolutely everyone else who has no clue. We're personally close after the battle against drycha, and we're involved in Kislev in general pretty heavily what with the expedition and the Waystone project outreach.

Wait. If liminal realms close up and are essentially permanently unreachable, are they the perfect way of disposing of vampiric remains?

I like this. Especially because no winds will ever get in, so they might just stay skulls forever, their own personal afterlife.

The vampire probably regenerates faster than the liminal barrier closes to the point it's unbreachable from the inside. Flesh has to be regularly scraped off of the skulls we have.

True, but if you wait till a rift heals just enough to fit a skull through it, I don't think they can escape.

It's just that if you can explain a mechanical solution to the problem in a two to four sentences It's not worth calling computer work.

I've read german-translated sentences that ran on for three pages, so I'm saying an asterisk in my head.

- This is a bad idea. Sure it'd be fun and maybe we'd improve, but it risks breaking the secret of our new sword style to the Druchii.

Agreed. We should do it AFTER elfcation, after we develop a huge reputation with the druchii. Then we can show it if to the Eonir and maybe have some of the druchii sword masters come to fight us- in a place where they can't kill us. We'll get better, it'll grind their gears, win-win.

No future plans are certain, but there has been a fairly notable push for the Elfcation to happen on the turn after next. If that happens, it'd be the one opportunity for the EIC to get anything set up in Lothern if we ever want it to.

I want elfcation next turn! Gigaflex and BOUNCE! Same turn works best on that, I think.

We did not but i imagine that since its not runesmith secret, Thorek might´ve glimpsed it. And he is sorta oriented towards this, remember when he made the vitae separator?

I hope so. But if we didn't make an effort he'd have to deliberately seek to spend time around Kragg to find out about it, so...

Yes. Eike's form of Windsight would let her use that to take advantage of the material properties of the world around her on the fly. Even if Mathilde acquires that same level of theoretical knowledge, it won't be wired into her Windsight in the same way.
Good to know, but it still might be worth our time to do more enchantment lessons to get the learning bonuses.

We are a busy important person, nobody is going to blink if we fail to appear at a coronation of a foreign head of state when we have not been specifically invited.

I kinda want the Gambler on the Orb construction action, given that it involves smooshing together twenty gallons of daemonblood and eight full powerstones in an enclosed space.

And we can't switch the Coin mid-vacay, so that would mean missing out on the Protector if we start it the same turn.

I think for Gigaflex and BOUNCE, the Elfcation is still better to take on the following turn. Rather, you'd make the Orbs on the upcoming turn and hold off on handing them in for a few months until the book is written and the ship to Ulthuan is chartered and then do all of that at once.
