For the Norse, this makes complete and total sense. I would still like to advocate for some characters to be +10 ft, especially for those with especially strong Giant's/Monster blood. It's just a massive staple, one that I especially enjoy.

The +8-9 he mentions there is from cultivation. Add that on Abjorn and he'd be 16-17 feet tall. Which is around as tall as even a Giant-Blooded warrior with maxed out cultivation probably should be, IMO.

I would like to note that if we did less researches this turn (or paid for some of them with training dice), we could improve the level of our workshop, improving all crafting results.

By 1 success, yeah. We're also gonna be doing that next turn anyway (or will be able to without foregoing research, anyway). I don't think getting it a turn early is worth either 6xp or missing out on research. That only ups the odds of getting Wondrous from around 83% to around 87% or so. That's not a meaningless difference, but not worth spending 6 xp on either, not even with 4 items on the list.

True. 11-12 feet isn't too tall for that, though. That leaves normal people at waist height or so. Plus, of course, all the cultivator bullshit involved in this means that the size can probably be ignored for that reason.
Being 11-12 feet also means that you're a way bigger target for all incoming attacks. It's a lot harder to dodge when you're just an outright bigger. You need to exert more energy for movement, to attack... the only 'advantage' of being bigger is that you can output linearly more strength, but the squarecubed law works against you there too.

I feel like this argument would fit better in a place where size changing isn't practically commonplace, like most people who're that tall will most likely have shapeshifting slots to make it more managable in different situations.

Hrm, I'd like to do a research die to just do a quick once-over with our new state, and see what's obviously changed. Just running over what we already know how to do so we can determine if there's any obvious changes.

I feel like the soul well has changed, since it was the epicenter of the growth, maybe it's bigger, like a cavern in the mountain our soul farm sits on.

...

Also, I think I figured out why it was so important to have a House and a Field at the highest quality we can get.

@Imperial Fister , tell me. Was the creation of our Soulscape modeled off of the state our Farm was in when we pulled the trigger?

In other words, having Superior Fields likely means that there's more resources and greater value to be tapped in the Soulscape, having the Fence probably leads to the fact our Soulscape's border is protected even after it expanded, and presumably Superior House will ensure... Actually, I don't know what that'll do yet.

And this is why not having a Fence is likely to cripple you. The first thing that happens when the Breakthrough begins is that the Rime Walls come down and become floodwaters. Having a Fence means that it doesn't impact your Estate, but if you didn't, it'd effectively knock everything down to "Lol", level first, which means your Soulscape is presumably a wide open expanse of barely functioning landscape. It might be hypothetically possible to correct that later, but it'd be far more dangerous and far riskier to do that.

My opinion probably isn't worth much, but I did find the height charts really goofy. Like, Abjorn could have been a good half foot shorter and still be a giant, y'know? But okay, I guess when you said he was giant blooded, you really meant it and he's in the top percentile of size, so that's fine.
But now? Your explanations/additions are fine, and people do have a strange fixation on the size of things. Legends getting bigger makes some sense, but I think halving all potential height growth hits that note, while being more... sensible? Fitting? A six inch growth spurt is still very noticable, after all.

6 inches per time it happens rather than a full foot would also be fine with me, for the record. I think that's well within the expected heights one could imagine. Still caps out at over 10 feet tall for even normal height people at the start of the process.

On the topic of the height growth, as just my two cents, I'm just happy we ended up taller than Ms "I'm More Special Than Most of the Population" of the Red Scarf.

Though on that topic I wonder if she is also someone who's part of a Cultivator line, and that's where she gets this attitude from, or if it's just her takeaway from her being a Skald and seeing things through a story mindset.

Well, if you see people as a 'PC' or 'NPC' perspective.. yes, you can certainly develop such an attitude.

That's a good compromise, good idea. If folks are fine with it, then that's what we'll do going forward.

By the way, for anyone who happened to not realize it, the growth from Stage 0 to Stage 1 is just growing to reach your maximum height potential, regardless of circumstance.

Mayhap ;^)

Aw beans, I forgot to note this but cracking open and melting the rime wall costed you 81 odr to accomplish, with the odr then mixing with the water that flooded across your expanded soul.

Well on the plus side, we actually have the space to put a good number of animals in our Soulspace now. I suggest getting prey vermin and owls first because I'm biased towards liking owls and because our Fylgja.

[X] Plan Finishing Things Up

Can we add to the research trying to teach Bjorney Eyetalk so he can comunicate with us?

We should totaly start bringing more animals in our Soulscape. Until now we only have some insects and one chick. The prey vermin and the owls are a good start, we should also add more chicken and maybe find a way for something bigger. Maybe try with a goat?

Regarding the height discussion, this are the tallest man and woman in recorded human history.
