Oh wow a *lot* of people switched over to heart attack huh? Man, that was a wild swing.
The vote had opened early on my workday, when I only had so much attention to spare, so I just voted for NV and NVvS as the closest fitting options at the time (I did not like the public Matrix option). My heart was always with the NHA tho, so I changed my vote the moment I noticed that someone wrote an option for it xD

One benefit of making this a magical assassination is that it gives Boris all the political justification he needs to court favor from the ice Witches as obviously he'd be justified getting protection against someone trying the same to him.

I don't think he needs political justification to do that. The Ice Witches are well regarded, by and large. If anything, there's probably a political cost to shunning them.

An *actual* lahmian would just manipulate/dominate someone into poisoning him right?

At this point in time they're fairly politically isolated I believe, as much feared as respected. It wouldn't normally be until this guy's daughter that they start getting a lock on political power.

The Ice Witches power waxes and wanes. It's not unusual that there's a Tsarina who is an Ice Witch, at which point they obviously have a ton of power. But it's also not unusual for them to get pushed out of power. I suspect it's a cycle. If they're not in power, they use their influence (and that is anchored deep, you're not getting rid of that) to make the case that they should have more power. If they are in power, they're going to try and drive their agendas, while any opposition argues they shouldn't be in power. Similar to how you see the cycles in a two-party system, though that is stretched analogy.

So, an idea that probably doesn't work but I figure I'll mention it anyway and maybe someone can salvage something usable out of it: use the Mockery of Substance mastery to make the Tzar intangible, drop something in his chest cavity, then make him tangible again. I think this could, maybe, achieve something similar to the matrix shadow knives idea without taking an hour to set up, but it's probably a bad idea because IIRC solid things overlapping don't act in predictable ways and he could violently blow up or something.

That, or Marienburg.
"Alright buddy, here's the deal. Laurelorn's thinking of building a new port with access to the Sea of Claws, but they're not committed. I want you to rustle up some ships from Erengrad to go there for their elven goods to help incentivize them. They'll probably be cheaper than the current route anyways. Win-win for everybody!"

"Except Marienburg?"

"Except Marienburg." :V

I like the dart attack varient of the night heart attack better than the shadow dagger one, because it's just as lethal (a sling stone to the skull can easily kill someone, so I don't want to imagine what it would do if applied directly to the heart) and lacks the failure state of 'a knife goes flying out of Vlad's body'.

They know what they have to do if they want us to stop fucking with them.

The failure state would have basically the same effect as the Nighttime Visit with style. So could I persuade you to at least put a vote on the knife variant.

I can actually accept the Magic Dart version, I think - less likely to actually break the skin, which makes the juice more worth the squeeze, and Magic Dart is both a much simpler spell to begin with (which means that we're more likely to pull off the Matrix intact) and isn't directly Ulgu-aspected (which helps keep people off our trail).

Why would A knife shooting out of the body be a failure state? It still creates a magical trace by leaving internal injuries that do not match a single exit wound. I feel like all the alternative plans is just splitting hairs and diluting votes when the key point is using the Matrix to set off a spell internally. Very frustrating and almost feels like deliberate fudging

[X] Plan: Nighttime Heart Attack

Approval voting, amd will switch to the below option if it reaches 2nd place

There's too much vote competition going on for me, but if a matrix method that kills him then and there, it might be worthwhile for Mathilde to muddle up the matrix's residule Ulgu structure/pattern in the corpse before she leave.

-[X] Use Mockery of Death so there is no sign of struggle, then stab him in the heart with a Shadow Knife. Leave the room by Substance of Shadows or Smoke and Mirrors, leaving behind an unnaturally quiet death.

I think this one fits what Boris wants the most, it's simple, quick and just about has enough of the mysticity that it can lead to an investigation leading back to his political enemies.

I changed my mind, this seems more in line with what Boris wants. Respectfully changing my vote to this. Thanks!
