I'm sad that Aki missed the elephant fight. Though dying and being brought back will certainly be worth a couple of Muna. Have we seen him use hugareida? Also I have found a way to look forward to dying. Just if we save Aki and die in the process I can take solace in Aki being a great cool uncle figure for the murderkittens. They have a lot of options for cool uncle figures.

We haven't seen Aki use any Hugareida, I don't think. Seersight, yes, and we know he has a Fylgja stat of 7+, but no Hugareida.

Well, if you die as Halla it doesn't matter anyways.

We can't suffer bodily death? It seems like we could.

I think it's more that dying with an Heir triggers Charred Soul immediately instead of rolling the Bodily/True Death Gacha.

Power Requires Sacrifice, in exchange for the ability to pass down information, that information must be passed down when we die, and that triggers True Death since the Memory leaves the body and soul.

This is one way it would make sense, but not the only one by any means. I was hoping for some confirmation on how that worked and whether we even could experience a 'mere' bodily death.

I hope Blackhand and/or the Seeress can share any tips and tricks for retrieving a soul from Ginnungagap.

Blackhand:
If you come across a ferryman charging two coins for passage down the river, you need to turn around; you've gone too far.

Man though, how much preparation can we even do in less than a week?
Listen to both mandatory and critical info dump by others....
Crash course for around 2 tricks, i think, if we have full reward dice is a guaranteed thing....
Rune up some things or modify the arm ring for the trip...
Set up a contingency, or something... Like, get a hook to stick on Aki's soul so the Seeress can yoink him back and we can focus on getting out...
Oh! Put a meat keeping stick in Aki's Body. (Damn, why are they so handy?)
that's just from the top of my head.

I'm very dubious of this one. We've never gotten a Training roll that took that little time and I'm skeptical we'll start now. Most of the rest are potentially possible, but training new Tricks is probably right out.
depends how many dice can we pour into it imo.... but we will see if that happens. if no tricks though, tips and advices for the trip should still work.

Halla find a ferryman dosing by the river, his ferry long ago rotten beyond all repair.

Charon: fuck off, I'm in retirement, try Anubis just down the road.

Halla carry on down the road, the air feel warmer here, the river change into a desert. until she stumble on a strange shapeshifter with a head of a jackal petting a strange malnourished chimera with a crocodile head.

Anubis: Sorry traveler, but we don't accept new souls at this time, however much it starve poor Ammit. go back a little more and maybe Saint Peter will take pity on your 'heathen' soul.

So Halla travel a little more only to find a strange priestly man in front of a golden gate and ask him to pass.

Saint Peter: I am sorry, but your soul has not accepted God, I cannot let you enter heaven. I can only sent you to Purgatory.

Halla: what is that?

Saint Peter: it is a place where lost souls are sent before they can be purified and accepted into god's grace.

Halla: so it is where lost souls go if they are killed and wait around until they go to the realms of the gods?

Saint Peter: God, as in singular but yes, it is a terrible thing that I will have to sent you there, but if you repent and...

Halla: No, all is fine. I accept, sent me there right now.

Saint Peter:...As you wish then.

Halla get sent away.

Saint Peter: what a strange girl.

any mishap of mythology and Christian doctrine is solely blamed on a sleep addled mind.

The Last Breath of Horra Hasvisson Final
(Haleikr's death save.... 1. Really, dude, really?)
The funeral for Haleikr was a short one, all things considered. You didn't know him well but, as his body is entombed in his ancestral burial grounds, you can't keep your eyes off his family. He's leaving behind a wife and three kids.

The kids don't fully understand what's going on, but the wife... she's stony faced. She was prepared for this and, as horrible a thought as that is... It's a dangerous world out there and it pays to be prepared.

One day, you or Abjorn might leave the house and never return. That... that's just a fact of life. One day, it will be your death — the Nornir will have it no other way.

You turn, lay a hand on Stigmar's silent shoulder, and make your way to Asvir.

To Asvir and the next step of your life.

"She's called the Wavedancer," Dorri says as he leads you to your price. "A snekkja, sixty feet long and twenty-two benches. She's a lively thing, a fine ship, fit for a hero."

The Wavedancer rests on Asvir's pebble beach, her spirit fierce and proud. The freeboard wood is painted a fine red while the draft is left bare — save for a coating of sealant, of course.

As this is a ship of Norwegian make, it has more draft — the amount of hull beneath the waves — then a ship of Danish, Geat, or Swede make. That means that while it has a bit more trouble with shallower waters, it handles the heavy seas with comparative ease.

Which makes it great for over-seas raiding!

Twenty-two benches means that there's room for forty-four oarsmen, plus one navigator. Forty-five vikingar on a raid, that's a lot of firepower! Unfortunately, you don't have forty-four people to crew the ship, so you're a bit out of luck there.

That's a problem you're going to have to solve, somehow. Course, you don't need to have forty-four people on hand, you could crew it with just a fraction of that number. However, you won't be going all that quickly if there's a lack of wind.

"You'll have to pay taxes on this, of course. Twenty ounces of silver a year," Dorri continues as you run your hand across the dragon-headed prow — the soul of the ship humming at her new master's touch, "but, other than that, the Wavedancer is yours now."

"So... what can she do?"

There's a twinkle in his eye as he laughs. "I'll let you discover that one on your own, but she's got a few tricks up her sleeve."

"Horra is dead," the Seeress has a smile on her face as she stirs her tea, "but... that's not the main reason you're here, is it."

It's not a question, it's an observation and not a very difficult one to make, at that.

You retrieve Aki from your fylgja and lay him and his fylgja on the table. The smile falls from the Seeress' face as she sighs, the cup tinkling as she sets it down. "You'll be looking to rescue him, I presume?"

You set your jaw, a fire in your eye. "He's my friend."

"I see." She purses her lips as her eyes narrow. She folds her fingers as she hums to herself, thinking of all the things you'll need. "The most important thing you'll need is a way to find him in Ginnungagap, which, fortunately, is the easiest thing to acquire as we have his body here." She plucks a feather from his body as she keeps humming. "I will require a day to prepare the tracker."

"What else do I need to survive Ginnungagap?" You frown, thoughts racing as the Seeress taps her chin.

"Truthfully? Not much. You'll need a way to retrace your steps, but that isn't required as long as you have a good memory. You'll need some way to avoid the Abysslings, but that's also not needed if you're confident in your strength of arm. The last thing that you'll need is a way to traverse Ginnungagap, however, with your wings, I imagine that such things won't be absolutely necessary."

"And how do I get there?"

"It's relatively easy, all things considered." She frowns and you wince. "However, I'll need a day to gather the necessary components to open the portal."

You grimace, heart fearing for your friend and for the future. That's two days at least that you won't be able to get right to it. Damn.

You have 7 days left to rescue Aki.

AN: Man, I had trouble writing this one. But, after the high octane last several updates, I suppose it only makes sense that I had trouble shifting gears. Sorry if this one isn't up to snuff.

No moratorium, I'm willing to try for a second update.

[x] Research Ginnungagap

Shades of Pact here. I have some thoughts on what might reside in the Abyss, why, and a relationship with the Enemy, but one word is far too much to go on.

The Norns really wanted him to die... đź’€

3% chance. Wow.

[X] Research Ginnungagap
-[X] The Abysslings
-[X] The 'terrain'

I'm thinking the terrain and the Abysslings. From what the Seeress says, I'm pretty sure we'll have no trouble travelling there, since we can fuckin' fly. So it's mainly the gribblies there that want to eat us that pose a problem, and what the terrain is actually like in Ginnungagap.

So uh... Who was Haleikr again?

[X] Research Ginnungagap
-[X] The Abysslings
-[X] The 'terrain'

How old are Haleikr's kids? and what is his wife planning to do? we could theoretically take then as farmhands to expand the farm and have more playmates and caretaker to our children. aside from the frankly ridiculous playmates our previous roll had accrued.

@Imperial Fister Would it take an action to learn the elephant guy's name? I feel like we'd have to have heard someone say it by now. Or maybe no one knows his name? And we're all just waiting for someone else to find out cuz it'd be too awkward to just ask after fighting with him.

3% failed...

You know, I would be so salty right now if it were a character more close to Halla. As it is, I am just sad and slightly in disbelief.

Wow, I mean, we tried, but the Norns really sort of made their displeasure at that guy's existence clear.

Sometimes, it's just your Time to Go.

Just out of curiosity, is it possible to spend Training Dice on Seidr right now?

EDIT: Actually, probably not, the Seeress is busy.
