Edit: Though if Daemon ever found out he'd probably be happy. Though his opinion on keeping it secret would be different. Probably want everyone to know Lucien has the blood of the dragon in him if for nothing else to have Lucien be part of the "family" where he belongs. Like in canon Daemon was ready to give his future bastard kid a egg.

Gael may not have been deaf or mute, but I do not believe she was mentally retarded. I believe she was on the spectrum because of how... well it was described in the histories.

Yeah dad sleeping with Daemons aunt would be bad on its own. Add in the her killing herself, taking her kid from the Targaryen family and now wanting Lucien to not be part of the family would piss Daemon beyond off. Daemon the family man would very much think Lucien should of been raised part of Targaryen family where he "belongs" in Daemons mind. Oh Daemon actually liking Lucien and being reminded of Gael before even knowing would help that along.

Correct. However they are in a very incompatible relationship where they are utterly hate each other, and both refuse to talk.
That's the biggest problem. Get them to talk about said relationship, and in a sense, the lack of control both of them had in it...
You might make them thaw out a little.
Let me put it this way:
Considering Gael was about to drown the both of them after one of the twins was stillborn? Our father was very much in his right to save us from that potential death, even when he could not save Gael.
Now afterward?
That's where it gets murky.
The old king and his wife would not be thinking straight as they would be grief-stricken, and would only make things worse for you if they did. Mean our father would be executed immediately.
Now that would mean that we are now fatherless and motherless, and would be completely at the mercy of the Targaryen family.
Not something that would be... a good thing for us.
As for Daemon... Well Lets just say that he isn't going to kill our father... But he will make his mind and grief known.

Oh Lucien would of definitely be the odd family member out of the family if they killed our dad. Only ones I could see caring for Lucien would of been the Queen because wanting to remember Gael through him, Daemon also caring for Gael along with understanding being the odd family member out and maybe Rhaenyra because of being the same age. Still Lucien would definitely have issues.
Yeah Daemon would still be pissed. Probably try to convince his dad if he's alive, Jaehaerys or Viserys if king to recognize Lucien as a Targ bastard to join the family officially. Daemon would probably get if done earlier would be bad but family man Daemon would still think the world should know Lucien is a true dragon even if he doesn't have the Targaryen name.

I mean lets be honest here: we would not only be messed up in the head, but also resenting the Targ family.
Instead of being rather well adjusted (albeit a trauma mute) and a decent person with two awesome parents.
Here is something I shall tell you:
Daemon is about ready to adopt you and allow you to take the family name, something entirely unlike Westerosi nobility to do, and give us his name anyway.
They don't adopt kids. Nor do their adoptive kids get the family name.
But Daemon might break that tradition.
And raise all sorts of hell in Westeros.

Well probably resent Jaehaerys and his wife for killing dad at least. Which probably break the queens heart if she lived long enough. With maybe a few exceptions to liking certain targs.

As i said, messed up and not like we are now, a normal kid with a dragon, raised by two loving parents.
Our Parents have to agree to it.
And that is very possible that they wont. Even if Daemon threatened to kill them. They love Lucien that much that they would defy empires to protect their son.

Those guards were too busy trying to save Gael then to see if the kids were actually alive.
Question then becomes do we push for the adoption or not. I'm leaning towards accepting the adoption. Much as our parents don't want us involved it's kinda too late for that. In the Game now and the way to survive is get power and influence. Getting adopted and getting the Targaryen name does that. So sorry parents need to happen so we can protect you and ourselves.
Funny enough, Jaehaerys said the same thing in his youth. His targaryen exceptionalism was about how the laws of Westeros and the faith didn't apply to the royal family because they were dragonriding valyrians.
