And What a Dance it Was (NO SV, War is Coming, Prepare)

I would actually prefer if weadvanced in the way to become her friend and confidant...

We are a great listener after all, and unlikely to tell much to anyone...
Well that can occur.

However Later: for now she wants to know why we don't really talk. Especially when she wants us to talk.

Because really that I totally what would occupy a mind of a child.

Well if Rhaenyra is curious enough she could try learning sign language. Lucien did show it a bit. Not a lot of people can do signs right? So could be played off as a secret way to talk between each other.

[X] Plan Riding with Mom

I should have put dragon riding instead of lying. This is going to suck.

Actually sign language especially high Valyrian and Westerosi common is common enough that Maesters can learn it at the citidel and teach it to the deaf and mute of Westeros and the Silent sisters use Westerosi common to get around not being able to talk.

So it's actually very common, just not universal.

Cause every city south of the neck has a Septon and a few silent sisters.

And silent sisters know sign.

But then we may have failed and got hurt or greyghost not liking that.
Well, at least it would be significantly less incestuous than the usual Targaryen marriage, and we would take some new blood to the mix...
And then I am reminded of how much icky the Targs are.

Huh. That's pretty interesting thing to hear. So there is usually someone to translate then? Well if someone has a Maester who can translate or a Septon who works with the Silent Sisters?

Most Maesters don't learn Westerosi sign, besides the absolute basics.

Most Maesters won't be able to translate.
Well if someone has a Maester who can translate or a Septon who works with the Silent Sisters?
The Most common way for us to find a translator is find a septon who works with the silent sisters. They will have fluency of Westerosi sign.
Huh. That's pretty interesting thing to hear.
Deafness, muteness, and other vocal-related problems have been around since antiquity. I find it better that, especially in a society as regimented as Westeros'es, I want there to be a little bit more.

Also, in the middle ages, there was rudimentary sign languages all over the known world. so it makes sense that such a system would develop in Westeros. Esspecially with an entire order of women who take vows of silence

Ah most don't care to learn it huh. Besides a few who learn basics. Makes sense. Want to look at stuff like science, medical and history. Stuff like that.

Hmmm can kinda see a Septon companion who can speak to Lucien who basically follows/teaches him. Or it possible for a servant to learn how to translate? Lucien gonna be a big hit with the Silent Sisters huh? :V

Pretty much. Lingustics has always been a secondary status at the Maesters Citidel.

However, most do know another language, mostly the Ironborn Old tongue, or an eastern language.

Well that is possible.

in fact I created one because of this... interesting conundrum.
Or it possible for a servant to learn how to translate?
Of course.

Let me put it to you this way:

A handsome man who knows sign to the silent sisters will make the panties drop faster then a Dragon's Roar to a Targaryen Princess.

Linguistic Maester: You all laughed at me!! Well who is laughing now!! Ha!!

Well that is possible.

Cool. Lucien does need to know about the Seven Pointed Star. Nice bonus if that Septon becomes loyal. Or that possible future servant.

Let me put it to you this way:

"Oh the ever pious Ser Lucien the Silent Dragon. Can talk but doesn't. Such a kind and gentle soul he is. Probably made a vow of silence. So honorable." The Silent Sisters probably once they see him sign to them.

In fact, Corlys has two on his payroll, writing letters daily casually warning the free cities not to fuck with him, otherwise he will fuck them up.

Got to keep the game going, if you know what I mean, and keep the competition down.

Lucien will actually have a choice to choose his religion coming soon, once he starts his education. (keeping up with the theme of you guys should be making the choices)

Mostly because I feel like it should be a choice.

Also, Valyrian Religion is a thing, and yes, it is something that is a minority on Dragonstone.
"Oh the ever pious Ser Lucien the Silent Dragon. Can talk but doesn't. Such a kind and gentle soul he is. Probably made a vow of silence. So honorable." The Silent Sisters probably once they see him sign to them.
And then the veils drop and Lucien finds himself with plenty of maids that want to ride a dragon since he can actually ask for consent. The Ladies love it when they get consent for that sort of stuff:V

REally though, considering the fear they can possibly go through, having someone else they can talk to, that they can talk to, is something that they will love.

The fact Lucien is a Dragon rider he can use his influence to make sure the Silent Sisters are treated well and ironically have their voice be heard if needed. That's a pretty big deal for them probably.

I don´t know... I mean celibacy vows are one of the most commonly broken vows in human history, but since there are actually other positions opened for women in the Faith of the Seven like being a regular Septa or another kind of Holy Sister, which are significantly less grim than the ways fo the Silent Sisters... Well I would guess that most of the Silent Siters are actually relly faithful volunteers, and they are likely to take their vows pretty seriously.

i'll still vote for the Seven, because fighting them for the rest of the quest sounds like a major chore. Not that I think we'll end up particularly pious, just enough to make the septons stop complaining.
Westeros does have religious tolerance, especially since one of the major regions is a religious minority, that being the Old Gods.

And for the last one hundred years, the faith hasn't been calling for conversions or crusades against the north.

So a dragon rider being a different faith, especially one that is known on the continent, is something that won't raise to many eyebrows.

It's the eastern faiths you need to worry about that.

Not denying it. in fact most would just love to converse with you.

Just saying that they would love that sort of stuff and that such an event can happen.

Yes, but that doesn't mean the septons cannot be a major pain in the ass when they want to be. Plus, the court is like 80% Seven so I think its better to go with the flow.
Well, those Septons can eat a bag of potatoes, because Maegor broke the fucking Faith, and there isn't much they can do about it.

Speaking of court:

I have rolled for how fractured and how united it is...

Well on some issues, they are very united, like trade, infrastructure policy, taxation, dragon handling, and domestic law and justice policy.

They are also extremely disunited by, low-borns entering the court just because they have a dragon, current situations in the east and how to deal with them, Old Man Jaeheryes slowly losing his marbles (though they do not know to what extent, they just think he's getting forgetful in his old age.) the prominence of Rhynes and Corlys, The wealth disparity among minor noble houses (who are taxed more) and the lords paramount (who are taxed less), so many wandering knights and not enough tournaments to make a living...

Oh and did I mention that there is a small piracy problem in the stepstones, oh I must have forgotten.

Honestly I'm picking The Seven Faith to just be extra close with the Silent Sisters. The Silent got to stick together.

Pretty united on certain things that make sense while people seem to question on if Lucien should be part of court. Curious how divided they are on Lucien. Certain people worried about Rhaenys and Corlys gaining influence. Well the taxes on nobles I can easily get. Especially on the lower nobles paying too much. Hmmm Lucien could get pretty close with the minor nobles and knights.

I am sure that, just like IRL, there are plenty of people which enter the Faith of the Seven without having any kind of real vocation simply because it is a relatively safe and comfortable way of earning a living and/or because it is the easiest way of getting a proper education... I am only saying that if you enter a religious organization simply for those "selfish" reasons, it is really unlikely that you to choose to join the order who does the nastiest job and has the harshest vows of the whole Faith...

So I think that most of the Silent Sisters would actually be really devout women which are the less likely to break their vows in the whole faith.

But it would be really interesting befriending a Silent Sister, since both of them are kind of freaks that put nervous to people and we are barely tolerated in the "normal" society and thank kinds of makes a good starting point for a friendship, and because the Silent Sisters would have access to lots of secrets going around the noble houses of the realm (they handle the funerals of basically all noble and rich people in Westeros, lots of secrets going around)...

Well nice to know that there are factions already forming regarding our existence. What does the hand of the king think about it?
Baelon is the hand of the king at the moment, and right now, he's our in at court. In addition to other things like possibly being our greatest ally after our parents.

Well lets just say that there is a sort of romanticism going on right now at court.

Both good and bad. Mostly bad however, because lowborns shocking the court and Westeros usually mean there is a start of something very big and bad.

Of the War variety.
. Certain people worried about Rhaenys and Corlys gaining influence
I mean, they are the power couple of the West right now, richer then almost every other noble family, including the Lannisters and Hightowers.

That tends to ruffle feathers and cause issues.

INb4 we lead a tax revolt (A real thing that happened more often then you think in the Medieval era.

Indeed, like i said, there could be a few bad apples.

But i'm going to focus on their vows, and their duties, and the friends we make along the way.

Because the Silent Sisters are very underrepresented, and I think to change that shit.

How deliciously devious of you. Using faith and friends to gain a spy network.
Also, what would be our end goal for that? Because you don't dive into a political scrum match without something to win from it.
I mean, there is a very uncomfortable chair that needs an ass to sit on?

Who's to say that there might need to be a crown available to us at the end of the day?

I mean, there is a very uncomfortable chair that needs an ass to sit on?
Yeah, no. The true winner in that game is the one that doesn't play. We don't have any support at all and actually trying to gather allies at this point would be more dangerous than just sitting on the side and accepting the result of the Great Council.

I'd not start with politics until we are at least over 10 years old.
