You need to be Magister or above. Regimand was our master. This is an extremely rare occurence, the result of a confluence of factors of Eike being a good student, resonating well with Ulgu, being bright and inquisitive and an ideal student, and the fact that she is set to inherit one of the biggest rising stars in the Imperial Trading Market. And there is her connection to Mathilde. Wilhelmine's interests directly align with Eike's so she's a given. Starke is a bit odd because it's a bit of a mystery why he would stake a claim on someone that other LMs would have an interest in. Perhaps he feels a Sigmarite bend would be beneficial to the EIC, and this is his best chance to do it. Or maybe he just thinks she's that exceptional.
My mind went to the idea that Starke wants her partially as a means of getting more of a handle on Mathilde, both in terms of understanding and of influence. Possibly paranoia on my part, I admit.

Porter Reiner Starke: Former youngest Lord Magister of the Grey Order before Mathilde. Duty as Porter means he is in charge of the Grey College's espionage commitments, including Internal Security.
Starke is most likely interested in the EIC for its potential as an espionage tool. His tutelage would probably help turn Eike into an extremely good spymistress.

The real reason for the work gang ploy is probably as a means of spot checking for people more than naturally shifty and stealthy in such a way that he crosses the path of as many as possible. So technically within the remit of the Dean if admissions are part of his responsibilities.

Also as an ear to the ground so that totally honest human-smuggler, yes-yes doesn't sneak suspicious green glowing barrels under the piers.
According to the Org chart, the Dean is in charge of recruitment as well, so yes admission is part of his responsibility. Having a static position might not seem like the best thing for wide Recruitment base, but he probably has people for that. I doubt the Dean himself is going around collecting recruits. Having influence with the Stevedores does give him strong info on the comings and goings within the largest dock area in one of the biggest port cities of the Empire though, so that's highly beneficial information wise.

On the other hand he could have also burned his persona because he knew he had he dean position lined up and wanted to take it
Not entirely, burned would imply the identity is unusable. You do not, for instance, burn a bridge you intend to use later and in this case he's using the identity in prison to curry favor which means the identity is still play and thus still usable for whatever shenanigans he has planned in the guild.

From the way its worded the Dean position was arranged after he stuck himself in prison to further his goals.

I was doing some re-reading and came across the section where Mathilde gave up all that Skaven stuff for the Gehenna's hounds favour and found out about the apparition binding.

Did that result in any further actions? I'd like to explore that option if not so we can get something out of that favour from the Golds. Perhaps we can start researching Apparitions to bind?

There's been a lot of interest in binding a Rider in Red or a Handmaiden.

Rider in Red would be a strong combatant and play into the whole Dammerlichtreiter thing. And people think having a Nazgul would be cool.

A Handmaiden would be good for assassinations and feel like they'd fit well with Ulgu.

You were trained as a Grey Wizard, after all. It's not paranoia if they really are out to get you.

There's something about Starke that has me on edge. Like, I can't get a handle on his personality or his ambitions. He's a worshipper of Sigmar, and in canon uses his faith as a tool to unify people, he's the future canon patriarch of the Grey Order, he currently handles interior security, and the only "big" thing that we know he's done was take out a Tzeentchian cult that targeted the Colleges. All the other LM's are crazy people who protected the empire one broken rule after another, but Starke doesn't fit that sterotype at all—he cleaves too closely to the rules, I feel.

And for the life of me I can't think why he wants Eike specifically as an apprentice. Sure, she's talented, but top pick for the internal security guy? Something's a bit odd there.

Not yet, we're hopefully going to start exploring it in the next few turns, waystones permitting, but the thread has been a bit hesitant over tracking down a totally-not-a-demon, binding it in a way that is not dark sorcery guys, no really trust me, and then laundering that knowledge without implicating the Golds.

Thankfully, we can pretend to have gotten the idea from the Spirits the Eonir have bound, as well as from Hag Witch magic, so we're in a good place to begin it as a research project at the moment, and the option to have attempted to bound Drycha appears to have invigorated the apparition faction.

Consider that the empire is quite heavily german coded, even in academics lots of our nouns are sumply (descriptor)stuff.

For example, a "airplane", translates to "Flugzeug", which literally translates to "fly-thing".
Or "Hydrogen", translates to "Wasserstoff", which literally translates to "water-stuff".
I'd say thing is best translated as Ding, and Zeug generally is generally used more like stuff.
Also, oxygen is Sauerstoff, literally Sour-stuff.
Naaaah, Cython expects that anyone who is gifted with the honor of their presence and wisdom would brag about it to all they meet (or perhaps to hoard all the knowledge to themselves) as a natural consequence of just how awesome they are. :V
He's totally right to.

For me, the current 'to do' list is:

Teaching classes:

finish Sword:

Finish spellbook: or at least Cloak Activity.

Bind Rider in Red.

For me, what I can think of off the top of my head:

- Teaching classes
- Swording
- AV & Orbs of Sorcery
- Apparitions(i think the handmaidens and the rider in red would both be rad so i dont mind which)
- The Nut
- Master 1 Arcane Mark(preferably the shadow)

I'd like to experiment with applying AV to enchantments—I theorise that soaking an enchanted item in AV will cause it to "weaken" reality the same way a powerstone does (although possibly to a lesser extent) making any enchantment upon it more efficient—which could be a massive improvement to our robes without having to remake them.

There's also windherding and spell codifying, but I'm happy to kick that down the road to an unspecified future date for the moment.

I am eagerly looking forward to having Eike assist in the creation of Orbs of Sorcery and maybe even Waystones. Raddest apprenticeship ever.

Learning alongside giant spider collectives, fetching books for Emperor Dragons... I hope she keeps friends from her student days better than Mathilde did... and not only for bragging purposes on her part.

Ok so I figure we have at least 2 -3 actions just on web may. Leaving is 2-3 actions. Very 2 actions on web map allows us to do something with someone from web may. So Max and Engrimm on waystone actions, and Johan helping Mathilde get some red riders. 1 action for apprentice classes. Leaving us 1-2 actions for other stuff. So maybe another web may action and maybe finish the sword. That way Mathilde can be a badass grand master swordsman for Eike.
