Even though Mathilde would wait for the appropriate time to explode the enemy, we've been rolling fairly well recently. The dice gods could decide we roll poorly and our fire might cause the collateral damage we are trying to avoid. So I'm cautious to use it.
My rational side: That's not how probability works.

My gamer side: Iä! Iä! Dice gods fhtagn!

[X] Kill: Branulhune

So here's my worry.

My personal theory behind how Heidi managed to fool several incredibly skilled and highly funded organisations (Emperor's Eyes, Witch Hunters, Colleges, Cult of Sigmar etc.) is not that she had a foolproof story. Personally I think it would be utterly ridiculous to expect her to have conjured one out of thin air within such a short time that resulted in all these organisations somehow missing that she never existed.

My theory behind how she managed to fool all of them is simple. Ranald spending the majority of the juice he got from Gork and Mork on this one gambit. If Ranald, one of the Old World's Major Gods, expends all the energy he stole, he could make any number of coincidences and lucky breaks occur to make it so that all the different organisations never come across the exact leads they need or come to false conclusions, creating an effective comedy of errors.

The problem here is that I don't think Ranald can do that again on a whim, not without another Gork (or possibly Mork) incident. Which isn't exactly a common occurence. This isn't to say that her story is full of holes and easily discoverable or anything, but that I wouldn't want to risk the Empire's organisations checking again.

Thankfully, it seems like Ranald is still exerting influence to arrange useful coincidences. Why, in the case of Alberich, he's even somehow managed to to get a Ranaldite Lady Magister of the Grey Order on the hunt!

Quite the achievement for the old boy, really.

I do wonder what our former master thinks of our disappear into crowds trick. Does he think that we have a mastery of "take no heed"?
He thinks we've just got really good at spying:
"Your tradecraft has improved," Regimand says from the rooftop beside you. "Didn't even see you until you popped up."
I think he realizes that it's not just some Ulgu trick, because he has Windsight and he would notice that. Some uses of the coin are obviously supernatural, like if Mathilde talked to Regimand and then suddenly vanished it would be obvious there's something weird going on, but I imagine Mathilde isn't flaunting her secret artifact in that way.

[X] Capture: Mockery of Death

Only 79 80 81 more votes needed, we can turn this one around!

Also:

[JK] Bury him with invincible unending undead army that we've been building for the last decade in secret. Our Dark Reign Begins Now.

I'd say that that was in honor of the auto corrupt trying to insert Vlad into my above delusional optimism, but I actually typed the fake vote first. Apparently Ranald isn't the only one who can reach beyond the fourth wall.:o

Much as I would love it if we used the dragonflask, going for the Slash kill is also a perfectly fine and cool way to start/end a fight.

[X] Capture: Mockery of Death

I'd prefer to capture and squirrel him away then attempt to purify his soul via ranald to keep any info leaks small maybe in the sunken palace shrine.

[X] Kill: Branulhune- Attack here and now, bisecting both sedan and Magus with a single swing. And then another to cut him in forth. Followed by stabbing the mutated arm with shadow knives if it moves.

Short, sweet, and cuts the dastard in half. And then in forth. Followed by stabbing if he can still move. Can never be too sure with chaos-tainted.

Everything being said, I think I now can be convinced to focus on getting the sword style up on line.

Because if an everchosion candidate is rolling 37 in there favourite(or at least one of) skills…

I don't want to be getting into a scrap with one of the more combative picks as mathy currently is.

Especially when you consider that Alberich is doing this ritual in order to give him the strength to become a viable contender for the Everchosen contest. He's not there yet, but it's likely that other candidates have already completed their power up/training montage and have moved into the next weight category.

If we were confronting Alberich after his dedication ritual, this whole thing would have gone very differently.

At that point, it'd be a case of 'call in our Lights and Johann, approach Alric, throw every witch hunter order we can contact at the problem, and report a panic situation to Algard to see if he can get Dragomas to show up in person to help'. An Everchosen candidate who has the strength to make a serious play for the title isn't somebody you take half-measures with.

Er... 37 is the dice value, they are rolling +32 intrigue. On that note being able to take martial Champions of the Dark Goods in a cage fight is really not what her character is about. In fact if we are doing anything close to a fair fight with any of them something is deeply, deeply wrong.

I think it needs to be said again 30 is legendary, we are not in a position to be legendary with a sword, we can kind of fake it with a bit of luck but at the end of the day that is not what our day job is and it is not where we would do the most good.
