Voted best in category in the Users' Choice awards.
I just re read this chapter with Sherlock Holmes violin theme, with Mathilde and Papa-Regimand trying to analze the clues using the flashback method.

Edit : nice point about the paper material.

Woah the tally is a mess this time. Multiple plans exist under different names, two plans with the same name have different content and at least one person is voting for two same plans under different titles while also getting the title of one wrong.

The above two are the same. I'm voting for the one whose name I prefer

[x] Plan: Ritual Centre with Disguised Approach

@Jyn Ryvia, @Altom, @Lampshade Each of you made a plan that already exists under a different name.

I don't see it? There is a plan that is almost exactly like mine but has plunder instead of ransack sure, but i don't see an exact copy.

The other one with the same name as the leading plan. It has pretty much the same content as Plan: Alternative2 by Lampshade. Although I guess they clarify one action to happen first. I doubt that that will matter though.

Ah, see it now. In my defence my plan came up earlier. Nevertheless I'll adjust once I am on desktop and not phone

I think both of Lampshade's plans actually already existed, so maybe it does make more sense to let them change it.

That said, you should fix the part where your plan shares the name with another.

So... let's say we get rid of the deamon in the dark without Alric noticing or that Alric kills the deamon himself. Doesn't that means he'll be able to claim that he succeeded in stopping the murders.

And considering that we haven't reported to Mira yet, does that mean our agreement would be voided? After all, I'd guess that she would ask us to investigate Alric is so she could act accordingly. If we wait for the whole matter to be resolved we kind of are not fulfilling our part of the bargain.

We can make a report of our investigations that show that Alric did not, in fact, stop the murders, and provide evidence to back us up.

@Boney Just to be clear, Are the Unfahigers related to the current Elector of Talabecland? I thought the current elector was called Fuerbach or something.

Apparently it is more common for Electors to marry into the nobility of their province than to marry the children of other Electors. Or at least that's the feeling I got.

So, to make the poll *slightly* less of a mess re-voting

We can make a report of our investigations that show that Alric did not, in fact, stop the murders, and provide evidence to back us up.

That only work if we can prove it without reveling the Empress' secrets.

And even that only works if Alric himself doesn't stop the murders. Far from impossible that his own plan works without interferrence on our part.

Also "It's not illegal if you don't get caught" is a saying, it doesn't mean something isn't illegal it just means you wont face consequences if no-one catches you.
I'm familiar with the saying. But in this case, I'm reading a little more into it, especially taken in concert with the other points noted. Because what I'm getting from that is that the Grey Order could probably draw some reasonable inferences from a Grey Lady Magister (and also a Magister, now) poking around Talabheim at the same time as specifically Dieter IV's looted wealth mysteriously disappears from Daemonmurder Manor - which we have WoQM the local mundane thieves are too smart/justifiably wary to take a run at - even if there was no explicit evidence. But as long as we don't actually get caught, thus forcing them to actually *know* that we stole it, they won't get mad at us for violating the Vow of Poverty just based on those aforementioned inferences.

So far Alric seems not even be trying to stop the murders, so that is hardly a concern.
And being unable to show we stopped the murders without implicating Heidi just means bringing Alric in means we implicate Heidi to Alric.

[] Plan: Ritual Centre
-[] Surveil the spa Unfahigers
-[] Surveil the hunting lodge Unfahigers
-[] Research: Alberich's life

To make a narrative argument against the current vote leader, this plan has two solid weeks of squatting in the bushes outside a lodge and a spa respectively and squinting at them real hard. While I trust Boney enough to expect they can milk something out of that premise, it just doesn't strike me as the most interesting thing to read. Wouldn't reading about plundering a manor of its ill-gotten gains and breaking into hidden vaults that may contain more sinister secrets as well as better goodies be more fun? Or reading about scouring a city for a daemonic murderer?

Oh, and here's an argument for Plunder that I at least don't remember seeing made - while it's true our primary objective is to steer attention away from Heidi, if we did turn up something sinister in the Unfahiger vaults it would actually work quite well for our secondary objective just on its own. Because even if Alric were to still succeed in his own primary objective of taking credit for saving the Unfahigers, that would sure lose a lot of its luster if it played out like:

Alric: Behold, I have single-handedly saved the Unfahigers, a prominent noble family of the Empire, from a sinister daemonic plot!
Mathilde, or Mira with our info: Yes, a family of secret warpstone and dark artifact hoarders [or whatever]. And you didn't even know. ...Right? No, of course you didn't, a personage who's been a leader since before the Night of a Thousand Arcane Duels must surely be above suspicion. Surely.

We can't say with any degree of certainty what Alric is trying to do. Maybe the ritual is centered on the head of the family and his supporters, which is why he's focused on them. Maybe the hunting lodge group is bait for the murderer, and Alric actually has someone watching them without their knowledge. Maybe he wants to let one more murder happen so he can observe how the Unfahigers' aura reacts to it, as Mathilde says that's one way to get information about the nature of the ritual, but has no intention of letting the ritual reach its conclusion.

One of the reasons that I want to talk to the hunting lodge Unfahigers is that they might be able to give us some information about Alric's plan. Probably not as much as the spa group, but some of them must have talked to Alric or to the members of the family that Alric is protecting, and have at least some idea as to the nature of his plan. Just surveiling them just seems too passive, and I don't think we have time to waste.

Yeah sorry finding skeletons in the closet of random noble families falls under the heading of 'not my monkey not my business'. What we need to do here is to avoid undue attention of all sorts and I do not think tossing a metaphorical bomb in the form of a massive breach of the Vow of Poverty is a good idea all the more so if we do find something incriminating. We would struggle to show that off without placing Mathilde in the mansion... the very much plundered mansion. For all things other than plain looting take ransack.
