After having given it some thought I think we should bring Alric in. This is very plausible for our given excuse and can be seen by Mira as Mathilde yet again going beyond what was initially asked of her. The biggest reason however is that it means we are on hand to explain, coverup forewarn etc. anything r.e. Heidi that Alric uncovers as part of his research. If we leave Alric to his own devices we will have to beat Alric to stopping the ritual and he has already had time to prepare i.e. we are playing catchup.
Given that we now have two non-Alric-related reasons to look into it, it makes some sense. Both Heidi and Roswita would see a not actually dead Alberich as a huge problem, especially as he's murdering the family of an elector count. And Mathilde talks to both and has enough knowledge to get suspicious about the deaths.

Of course, Alric is not gonna buy that. Not with Ergrimm getting promoted and Elrisse seconded to the project. But polite fiction can be helpful.
Gotrek actually crying in his grave. Already forgotten.

No motive for Gotrek, no legitimacy, no motive, no guilt for Alric. Theory busted.
Nah, see, he actually planned on Gortrek not dying, because the worst slayer would kill plenty of his rivals in evil, and because Felix is wanted there, they stay out of Altdorf and aren't a problem for him. He was very cross Ergrimm failed him on this, and instead focused on some journeymanling just feeling the Truth. And he didn't even see the beauty of ABSOLUTE POWER when visiting the windfall. Good(/Evil) apprentices are so hard to find.

But rest assured, he is responsible for the most heinous of crimes: The delaying of silk sheet production in K8Ps. Solely because he thinks white linen is the only proper fabric.

You know, maybe we should have spent the moratorium building plans like in the plan turns. There are 3 minutes left until it's over and nobody suggested any plans. It would help if there was something to work off of. No I'm not making one my last plan flopped. I don't like the process.

Ranaldites protect against Chaos so well because they're usually the first ones to notice when Chaos starts happening to people. If someone isn't actually doing anything but slipping out once a month or so to murder someone in the noble district, nobody in the underworld will really notice them. All sorts of people skulk around sewers and low rent taverns, and most of them are only doing so because they're too poor to skulk somewhere where it gets called loitering instead.
Given the below would it be possible to have the local Ranaldites do a survey of anyone who makes them feel uncomfortable?
But if it is centered on the person doing the murders, it would be clearly visible. Even people without Magesight would be uncomfortable around them
I doubt it would be absolute or foolproof but if a dozen different thieves all notice feeling unusually uncomfortable around a person with the same description that would give Mathilde a place to start looking. You'd probably get a bunch of false positives but given Mathilde seems to think she could ID them at a glance she could then have a follow up action to check them all out. The main issue being if he isn't hiding out in the same places as Ranaldites all she'd get would be false positives.

People have proposed plans, I proposed two myself.

I think it might be wise to come up with a plan pushing for this. There's less than two minutes to the moratorium left, but I agree with your point - the entire space of possibilities are all serious enough that I think bringing at least Hedi into the loop and updating Mira is necessary at this point. The question is what the second/third move should be if we bring at least Heidi in.

Technically, we've already have enough to do what Mira asked for initially in our deal with her.

[] Plan: Ritual Centre with Mira
-[] Surveil the spa Unfahigers

I think finding the focus of the ritual is the most important next step, as that will narrow down potential rituals and lets us know where to be to stop the next murder. I'd prefer to do something useful over Mira but if we do want to get paid for this I think now is the time to speak with her hence my second plan.

Has Mira already been updated as to what Alric is doing right now at this stage? Would also approval vote a plan that brings Heidi into the loop on this.

You know what, sure.

[x] Plan: Interested Parties
-[x] Bring in the Empress
-[x] Renegotiate with Mira
-[x] Approach Alric directly

The idea is to bring everyone with a in this stake together. The renegotiate with Mira action is in part something like "Hey Mira, how about we turn this into a common College initiative, Alric can't claim it as a big thing if it's the cooperation of many people". We can't say it's happening as a WEBMAT thing, because fighting chaos is outside its remit, but we can sort of wave in the direction and say something like "look how great cooperation between colleges is! It's great in so many ways. Are you perhaps interested in other ways it's great? "

If we had more actions, I'd bring in Elrisse and Horstmann too, just so that there's way too many for any single individual to claim full credit. And maybe Roswita (who'd probably bring in the Witchhunters), because she's also got a stake in this.

You are seriously underestimating the number of off-putting weirdos there are to be found in a city the size of Talabheim.

Updating my Vote:

[X] Plan: Ritual Centre with Mira
[X] Plan: Interested Parties
[X] Plan: Narrow it Down

If Mathilde's analysis is correct, there is a serious possibility of Chaos destabilizing not just a province but the Imperial succession (and hence the Empire).

[X] Plan: Cooperation
-[X] Research: Alberich's form
-[X] Approach Alric directly
-[X] Approach the hunting lodge Unfahigers

Find out what Alberich might look like now, coordinate with Alric and get the other Unfahigers protection.

Way I see it, there are three potential options for the ritual-wind disturbance to be.
1) with the unfahiger boss and Alric
2) with the lodge unfahigers
3) with the perp

We don't know where 3 is, and spending two of three actions of which the only result might be "it's definitely with the perp" is not something I want to do.

So that way is a dud.

I am absolutely against any plan that wastes a week trying to squeeze more concessions out of Mira—best case scenario we randomly get the one piece of information that without which the waystone project can't work at the cost of adding "actually sabotage alric" to our list of objectives.

The way I see it if we know which group the disturbance is with we can act to protect them which is a win, if we know it is with the perp we can introduce Regimand to the empress and thus fulfill our actual goal here of eliminating her from suspicion. It also allows us to narrow down which rituals are possible either way, maybe even getting it down to only one possible ritual.

[] Plan: Narrow it Up
-[ ] Research: Alberich's life
-[ ] Research: Underworld Turbulence

Investigating only the lodge is the worst option here. If we watch the spa and fail then we narrow the options down a lot. If we observe the lodge and come out empty, we learn very little. Given that the spa is more likely to begin with, the value of only lodge is almost nothing.

While I'm a fan of alerting Mira before we do too much out in the open, there would still be plenty of time before ritual completion. The limiting factor here is actually the ordering here imo, so here goes:

[X] Plan Info
-[X] Plunder Krieglitz Manor
--[X] Focus on information rather than wealth. Take documents and books, leave any gold or jewels.
--[X] Secure anything dark that needs to be destroyed.
--[X] Judge items of historical relevance and artifacts with a specific use case-by-case, based on the benefit to the Empire if they are back in the open rather than locked away.
-[X] Research: Underworld Turbulence
-[X] Surveil the spa Unfahigers

[x] Plan: Ritual Centre with Mira
-[x] Surveil the spa Unfahigers
-[x] Surveil the hunting lodge Unfahigers

[X] Plan: Survey & Surcharge
-[X] Surveil the spa Unfahigers
-[X] Surveil the hunting lodge Unfahigers
-[X] Plunder Krieglitz Manor

[x] Play to our Strengths.
As a sidenote: He's also responsible for the death of Hexensohn and Abelhelm.
Hmm . . . Could we social Elspeth to find out what was under Drakenhof or is that too plot-relevant?

[X] Plan: Ritual Centre with Approach

The fifth Haupt-Anderssen had 'tripped' while going down stairs, while the fifth Unfähiger had made that same fatal journey an amount of time that varied in the telling but was universally too large.

The Haupt-Anderssen who'd died during the night of a weak heart had his ripped out in bed, and the bed was stripped to the frame and still smelled of blood. The Haupt-Anderssen who'd fallen from a balcony was matched by an impact crater of considerable size below one of the Krieglitz balconies. The Haupt-Anderssen who'd simply keeled over dead misstep must have posed a tricky question for the reenactor, who had done their best to escalate the seemingly rootless death with a stiletto to every organ that left quite a set of stains in a corridor rug. And the Haupt-Anderssen who had seemingly accidentally shot himself while cleaning a gun was matched by the armoury on the grounds, which was emptied of its usual contents as half-hearted attempts to repair the many, many bullet-holes took place and were eventually abandoned
Wonder if the extraordinary violence of the murders was ritually significant or trying to disguise that its replicating whats essentially a Series Of Unfortunate Events..
Except for the final death.
