Given that we now have two non-Alric-related reasons to look into it, it makes some sense. Both Heidi and Roswita would see a not actually dead Alberich as a huge problem, especially as he's murdering the family of an elector count. And Mathilde talks to both and has enough knowledge to get suspicious about the deaths. After having given it some thought I think we should bring Alric in. This is very plausible for our given excuse and can be seen by Mira as Mathilde yet again going beyond what was initially asked of her. The biggest reason however is that it means we are on hand to explain, coverup forewarn etc. anything r.e. Heidi that Alric uncovers as part of his research. If we leave Alric to his own devices we will have to beat Alric to stopping the ritual and he has already had time to prepare i.e. we are playing catchup.
Of course, Alric is not gonna buy that. Not with Ergrimm getting promoted and Elrisse seconded to the project. But polite fiction can be helpful.
Nah, see, he actually planned on Gortrek not dying, because the worst slayer would kill plenty of his rivals in evil, and because Felix is wanted there, they stay out of Altdorf and aren't a problem for him. He was very cross Ergrimm failed him on this, and instead focused on some journeymanling just feeling the Truth. And he didn't even see the beauty of ABSOLUTE POWER when visiting the windfall. Good(/Evil) apprentices are so hard to find.Gotrek actually crying in his grave. Already forgotten.
No motive for Gotrek, no legitimacy, no motive, no guilt for Alric. Theory busted.
But rest assured, he is responsible for the most heinous of crimes: The delaying of silk sheet production in K8Ps. Solely because he thinks white linen is the only proper fabric.
